A federal court has made a critical ruling related to the Second Amendment and the concept of self-defense. The decision strikes at the heart of California laws intended to limit one’s ability to protect themselves against violent criminals. Judge Roger Benitez handed down a ruling in the case of Fouts v. Bonta on Friday, striking down a ban on citizens possessing or carrying billy clubs and other forms of less lethal weaponry. In his decision, Benitez questioned the legality of the statute, which criminalized Californians simply for owning a billy club, a tool that is commonly used by members of law enforcement, but is also

Officials are desperately making plans ahead of the expected wave of illegal aliens likely to begin being dropped off at the end of March by Biden’s U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, according to AZMirror.

Inflation has changed the way many Americans shop. Now, those changes in consumer habits are helping bring down inflation.
Fed up with prices that remain about 19%, on average, above where they were before the pandemic, consumers are fighting back. In grocery stores, they're shifting away from name brands to store-brand items, switching to discount stores or simply buying fewer items like snacks or gourmet foods. More Americans are buying used cars, too, rather than new, forcing some dealers to provide discounts on new cars again.

Three multimillion-dollar homes teetering on the edge of a cliff in Southern California have been deemed safe to live in — despite a landslide taking out a large part of the cliff from underneath them.
Historic storms that inundated the Golden State earlier this month left the Dana Point mansions in precarious positions and at risk of falling into the Pacific Ocean.
According to records, the priciest home in the coastline complex is a $15.9 million, four-bedroom property registered to a local radiologist, 82-year-old Lewis Bruggeman.

Burning coal to make electricity generates significantly more carbon pollution than using natural gas for the same purpose.
But a new bill drafted by Sutton Republican Rep. George Rauscher still seeks to define coal-generated electricity as “clean energy” — putting it on the same footing as wind, solar, tidal and hydroelectric power.
The proposed legislation, House Bill 368, is Rauscher’s bid to advance an energy policy debate that has otherwise stalled at the Alaska Capitol.
“There’s a reality to keeping the lights on and keeping everybody warm today,” Rauscher said. “As opposed to the vision of what we’re going to have in the future.”

Bloomberg reported the Southeast now accounts for over two-thirds of U.S. job growth since 2020. Wages grew at a higher rate in red states than blue states from 2022-23. Companies earned more in these states.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, just six states in the Southeast, including Tennessee,

If I could impart one bit of wisdom to you today, I hope that people who tell you they are anything – good, smart, honest, not selling you something, conservative, etc. – are the opposite. Truly smart people don’t have to tell anyone they’re smart, people just know. The same goes for funny people. The more someone insists they are something, the less likely they are to be that thing. Do you know how I know Democrats are the party of compassion and caring? By now they insist they are all the time. It’s the same way I know they’re uncaring opportunists who’d dance on your grave

John Kerry: “Agriculture contributes about 33% of all the emissions of the world. And we can’t get to Net Zero—we don’t get the job done—unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution. You just can’t continue to both warm the planet while also expecting to feed it. It doesn’t work. So, we have to reduce emissions from the food system.” What a dilemma. If we feed people, we will continue to warm the planet. If we continue to warm the planet, billions will die in 100 years from global warming because of the food we are eating now.

Just days ago, on February 14 to be precise, Vladimir Putin said he prefers Biden in the 2024 presidential race. Nevertheless, the media, often with the intelligence community’s aid, seems to be trying again in the indictment of Vladimir Smirnov to hint that Donald Trump is somehow being aided by Russia. Thin gruel, indeed. A quick review of the FBI’s consistent election meddling and gaslighting of voters is the necessary background for this week’s account. In case, like me, you’re finding it hard to keep track of all the gaslighting on Russia in recent years, Adam Mill kindly documents 14 recent Russian hoaxes:

To the chorus of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' raucous '80s pop hit, "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley reached the podium on the 2024 Republican primary night in the state she calls home. The still-strong crowd of supporters began to chant her first name, to which Haley said with a note of affection on what must be a difficult night to remain upbeat, "Y'all are a rowdy bunch, but I love that about you." As we reported earlier, Haley lost the primary, in the state where she served as governor, to former President Donald Trump: Haley began her speech by thanking her family,

An Israeli delegation of top security officials returned from talks in Paris on Saturday as reports spread of growing hope in Jerusalem that a new hostage release deal with Hamas could be within reach.
Israel’s war cabinet was conferring by telephone on Saturday evening to discuss the emerging “outline of an agreement,” described by an Israeli official cited widely in media as a “basis on which to build a plan and the principles for negotiations.”
“There’s significant progress and a solid basis for discussions,” the official said. At the same time, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel that while there was optimism in Israeli media

A small Texas county has declared a state of emergency as its population of 400,000 is set to double, and even triple, ahead of the total solar eclipse in April.
Bell County officials in central Texas are gearing up for challenges like traffic congestion, fuel shortages, and strains on first responders, hospitals, and food supplies, as thousands of tourists are expected to flood the town.
County Judge David Blackburn said the emergency declaration will help the county plan for the eclipse and protect both residents and visitors, as reported by the Dallas Morning News.

Donald Trump touted the unprecedented unity of the Republican Party Saturday night in a gracious speech after that state’s primary was called.
The Associated Press officially projected Trump as the victor at 7:00 p.m. EST – the minute polls closed. “There’s never been a spirit like this, and I just want to say, I have never seen the Republican Party so unified as it is right now,” Trump said in a fifteen minute speech after his projected victory. He used most of his speech to thank his supporters, singling out many officials on the stage, and touting the latest in his historic run in this year’s primary.
In a sign of unity,
