The resignation letter was short and direct. “I can no longer be under an oath to uphold the New Constitution of Ohio,” wrote Sabrina Warner in her letter announcing she was stepping down from the state’s Republican central committee. It was just days after Ohio voters resoundingly approved an amendment last November to the state constitution ensuring access to abortion and other forms of reproductive health care. For many, the vote was a victory after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a constitutional right to abortion in 2022.

It's the way the SCOTUS intended, each state can decide how it wants to address murdering defenseless unborn humans.

#1, Not just SCOTUS, but the constitution leaves it to the states by not assigning it to the national government.

I stopped reading at " after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a constitutional right to abortion in 2022." The college graduates who wrote that are really ignorant. The SCOTUS does not grant or overturn our constitutional rights. The decision found that the US Constitution does not grant any power to the federal government to regulate abortion, therefore it is a matter for each state to decide. I don't live in Ohio, but I would point out that the voters in Ohio have the ability to amend their constitution regarding abortion in the future.

The GOP Is Changing, And That’s Good 0 replies

Do you remember your stupid high school government teacher, that insipid left-leaning strange-o in the bad sport jacket who taught you that conservatives don’t want to change and liberals want change and blah blah blah? Good gosh, there’s nothing worse than the unionized hacks infesting our schools and filling empty skulls with nonsense. But enough about public education. The truth is that today’s conservatives do want change, and change is coming to our party. The new Republican Party is, as that desiccated old pervert masquerading as our president likes to say, not your father’s Republican Party.

President Biden was inaugurated Jan. 20, 2021. Weeks later, Feb. 2, he issued the executive order that began the unraveling at the border in earnest. The border crisis isn’t something that happened to Biden. It’s not a product of circumstances or understandable policy mistakes made under duress. No, he sought it and created it, on principle and as a matter of urgency. It wasn’t a second-year priority or even a second-quarter-of-the-first-year priority. The new president set out in his initial days and weeks in office to destroy what President Donald Trump had built, most consequentially in the Feb. 2 executive order. By then, mind you,

Remember that guy Hunter Biden referred to as "the f**king spy chief of China" on a recording in 2018? That guy was Dr. Patrick Ho, although it's not clear exactly what his role with China was. According to Ho, CEFC paid Hunter Biden a million dollars to act as his attorney back in 2017. But now according to a new report, Ho just sent a legal letter to Hunter threatening to sue him if he doesn't give the money back, because Ho says he didn't get any legal work for the money.
New York Opens a Back Door to Communism 0 replies

Our founders saw our various states as places to experiment with governance. Each can test ideas to see what works and what doesn’t. Citizens can provide feedback by migrating to those places where things work the best. I doubt that our founders expected an experiment to see if a communist state can coexist in a capitalist country. But New York has decided to conduct that experiment, seizing the means of production via lawsuits. During her campaign, New York attorney general Letitia James made the Lavrentiy Beria pledge to find a crime and “get Donald Trump.” It turns out she’s a woman of her word.

Commentary's John Podhoretz has a fascinating and worthwhile essay bringing up a few points that aren't being considered much, in an essay titled "How Can Biden Stay in Now."He begins this way ... A Michigan GOP convention in Grand Rapids on Saturday will allocate 39 of the state’s 55 GOP presidential delegates, but a significant portion of the party’s grassroots force won’t be attending due to the lingering aftereffects of a months-long dispute over who is leading the party. Still amid the division, chaos and legal disputes, the party is expected to unite behind one candidate Saturday: former President Donald Trump. Trump won Michigan’s Feb. 27 Republican primary handily, receiving 68% of the vote compared to rival Nikki Haley’s 27%.

The House majority ran through New York in 2022. The red wave that pundits predicted never made its way ashore nationally, but it definitely washed over the landscape here in New York. Running as one team, we campaigned hard and flipped many House seats from Democrat to Republican in purple, suburban districts. New Yorkers were able to cast their votes in some of the most competitive races in the country, and we ultimately decided control of the House of Representatives.

It is not my habit to read Paul Krugman’s screeds, much less recommend them, but every dog has its day. And Krugman’s latest piece commands attention because of what he inadvertently reveals about elite ignorance. Under the headline “The Mystery of White Rural Rage,” the New York Times columnist approvingly cites a book that details the decline of rural America. Spoiler alert: Technology gets the blame. But Krugman, an economist, quickly adds, “I still don’t get the politics” of rural Americans, and later writes, “I still find it hard to understand” recent voting patterns.

On March 5, 1946, Winston Churchill made his famous post-World War II speech in which he observed how “an iron curtain has descended across the Continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe… this is certainly not the Liberated Europe we fought to build up.” That “iron curtain” would become literal with the construction of the Berlin Wall which would not come down until November 9, 1989. Events would then snowball. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics would formally dissolve on December 26, 1991,

This week all eyes were on the Willis-Wade fiasco in Fulton County, Georgia, but three less smuttily scintillating cases seem at last to be limiting the overreach of the Department of Justice respecting the J6 defendants and Jack Smith’s persecution of President Donald Trump. In interpreting criminal statutes, it seems to me that Courts should not be creative and expansively read into them things that the legislature which writes the laws did not clearly proscribe as illegal, and it appears that finally, courts higher than the highly partisan D.C. Circuit judges understand that.

Thus far, 2024 has not been a banner year if you want to be employed as a journalist in the mainstream media. January featured layoffs at the Los Angeles Times, Sports Illustrated, Time, National Geographic, and Business Insider. Downsizing at cable news networks, usually unheard of in an election year, continues, and even National Public Radio has cut staff. Many longtime reporters at places such as the Washington Post have taken buyouts as the newspaper struggles to restructure its business model. Jack Shafer of Politico captured the current mood well: “Journalists across the country burst into flames of panic this week, as bad news for the news business crested

Vice President Kamala Harris has broken with President Joe Biden to call for 'an immediate ceasefire' in Gaza. Her comments, made during a speech in Selma, Alabama, on Sunday, are the strongest condemnation of Israel's conduct since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack by a senior member of the Biden administration. They came just a day before she is due to meet with a top Israeli official to discuss a potential ceasefire deal and a day after the US began air-dropping aid to the war-torn country, 'Before I begin I must address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza,' Harris said. 'What we are seeing every day in Gaza is devastating.'

Up to 10 feet of snow was expected to slam high-elevation areas, creating a “life-threatening concern” for Lake Tahoe residents, National Weather Service meteorologist William Churchill said.

A new study bucks recent trends in health research that say people who eat a lot of red or processed meat face an increased risk of heart disease. A research team looked at UK Biobank data from over 1.8 million people: roughly 460,000 who ate processed meat, pork, beef, and mutton, respectively. Anyone with a history of cardiovascular disease was omitted from the study. The team found that eating red or processed meat was not linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. All odds ratios (ORs) of a person developing cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, or atrial fibrillation were insignificant.
