Migrant encounters at the open southern border hit their highest ever single day total on Tuesday, as an astounding 12,000 people flooded across the border into the US.
Fox News reported that Customs and Border Protection agents said that more than 10,000 of the encounters were Border Patrol agents coming into contact with illegal crossers at various ports of entry.
On Wednesday morning, CBP had more than 22,000 migrants in custody as several of the agency's sectors overflowed with people outpacing their capacities.
The crowd at the fourth Republican debate booed former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie after the presidential hopeful stated that former President Donald Trump will not be able to vote on Election Day because “he will be convicted of felonies before then.”
In his closing statement, Christie, who is polling nationally with an average of 2.5 percent, urged the crowed to imagine Election Day next year, using the opportunity to attack Trump.

Three people are dead and one critically injured after a gunman opened fire at the University of Nevada's campus, with the attacker being shot dead by police.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” Aspen Public Radio Reporter Halle Zander reported on the town of Carbondale, Colorado, where a surge of migrants has overwhelmed local resources and forced migrants to sleep outside as temperatures drop.
Zander reported on a migrant from Venezuela who went to Carbondale and “joined a group of about 125 migrants, mostly from Venezuela, who were living under a bridge at the entrance to the small town. She’s hopeful she can find stable housing nearby with her girlfriend and her girlfriend’s kids.” But “Carbondale doesn’t have many services to support unhoused people.
The United Nations (UN) climate summit, known as COP28, featured a Tuesday discussion on sustainable yachting.
The discussion centered on finding “a variety of technical solutions developed to make the yachting experience more responsible and sustainable,” according to its official COP28 website. (snip) “It’s absolutely classic… they tell everyone else to sacrifice while they host discussions on ‘sustainable yachting’ among themselves.” Representatives for the UN did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

This year’s United Nations (UN) climate confab has numerous upscale food options available for attendees to enjoy on-site, including several that serve meat, even as a UN agency is set to issue a report calling for reduced meat consumption. Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan’s probe into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ indictment against former President Donald Trump has seen an interesting turn of events. Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, has been looking into the indictment over suspicions that it is motivated more by politics than by a pursuit of justice.
On Tuesday, Jordan sent another letter to Willis highlighting her refusal to comply with the demands in the previous letter the committee sent. Of particular note, however, is a new revelation that Willis’ office reached out to the Democrats’ House Select Jan. 6 Committee to get information that could aid in her effort against Trump.

The Biden administration is demanding that Israel take even more extraordinary measures to avoid harming “innocent civilians” as it tries to eradicate Hamas. Around the world, politicians and others express dismay at the alleged number of innocent civilians who have been killed by Israeli bombardments, even while admitting that Hamas’s casualty numbers include its own terrorists, people killed by terrorists’ awol missiles, and so on.
But my complaint is more fundamental. Watching videos of Israeli captives being paraded through Gaza, and seeing “civilians” spitting on them, hitting them, joyously celebrating their capture, I have asked: where are these innocent civilians we keep hearing about?
