The House voted to censure Rep. Jamaal Bowman for pulling the fire alarm during a vote to avert a government shutdown. The vote was 214 to 191, with five members voting 'present.'
Four Democrats, all on the Ethics Committee, voted 'present' - as is standard for ethics-related matters. Three Democrats voted to censure Bowman - Rep. Jahana Hayes, Conn., Chris Pappas, N.H., and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Wash.
One Republican voted against it: Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland.
Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., forced a vote on the resolution this week by making it 'privileged.'

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has been under fire from the establishment media in Washington for his investigation into alleged financial misdeeds by the Biden family, accused of hyping evidence his team has uncovered to push impeachment.
But he’s had enough and is telling the media what he thinks of their White House defense. On Tuesday night, as he appeared on Meet the Press Now, Comer told host Ryan Nobles, “The American people aren't buying what you're selling,” adding, “The mainstream media is trying to cover this up.” (snip) Comer, with a smirk, responded, “You don’t understand. It’s like you’re financially illiterate.

Well, the ailing Pope Francis has struck again. This time, the 86-year-old pontiff decided to remove the man he described as “his enemy,” the conservative gadfly Cardinal Raymond Burke. To this end, he canceled the Cardinal’s Vatican stipend (said to be around 5,000 euros per month) and, worse, forced him to give up his 4,400-square-foot Vatican apartment. (snip) In other words, liberal love and tolerance have come to the Vatican. The point, as always, is both to squelch dissent and threaten potential opponents: toe the party line and repeat “the narrative,” or you could be next.

Robert F. Kennedy stated in a televised interview on Tuesday that he had flown on Jeffrey Epstein's private jet twice—weeks after telling Newsweek that he had only taken one flight on the late financier's aircraft. (snip) Kennedy's recollection stands at odds with an emailed statement shared on his behalf with Newsweek on October 31, in which a spokesperson for the former Democrat stated that he had only "flown one time on Jeffrey Epstein's private plane."
The occasion that Kennedy's spokesperson informed Newsweek about was the flight in 1993 from New York City to Palm Beach, Florida, when he visited his mother for Easter.

An attorney for Hunter Biden reiterated to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) that the president’s son would not be sitting for a closed-door deposition and re-upped his offer to testify in a public hearing.
The new letter to Congress follows a subpoena by Comer demanding that Hunter Biden sit for a closed-door deposition as part of their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

The United Nations (UN) climate summit, known as COP28, featured a Tuesday discussion on sustainable yachting.
The discussion centered on finding “a variety of technical solutions developed to make the yachting experience more responsible and sustainable,” according to its official COP28 website. (snip) “It’s absolutely classic… they tell everyone else to sacrifice while they host discussions on ‘sustainable yachting’ among themselves.” Representatives for the UN did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

This year’s United Nations (UN) climate confab has numerous upscale food options available for attendees to enjoy on-site, including several that serve meat, even as a UN agency is set to issue a report calling for reduced meat consumption. (snip) Some of the options for nourishment at the conference include smoked wagyu beef burgers and “melt-in-your-mouth BBQ,” even as the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is poised to issue a report this month that will call on Americans to counter climate change by cutting “their excessive appetite for meat,” according to Bloomberg News.

Too bad for Disney, “The Dirty Dozen” was already taken, so the company settled on “The Naughty Nine” and got to work—but “The Naughty Nine” isn’t a movie with themes of hardened masculinity, sacrifice, courage, redemption, and killing German Nazis, it’s the latest “Christmas” feature depicting a group of children on a heist job at the North Pole… with queer “dads” and a prepubescent gay boy using the term “hottie” to describe his crush. Naturally, the homosexual agitprop overwhelms the story line.

Disney took advantage of a special tax district to effectively govern itself by hand-picking board members who received exclusive benefits and perks from the company, a new financial audit shows.
Disney showered board members and employees of the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) with perks and benefits over the district’s lifespan, according to a financial audit carried out by the new governing body installed by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in spring 2023. “What is now evident is that Disney not just controlled the Reedy Creek Improvement District, but did so by effectively purchasing loyalty,” read a new report on the RCID’s past practices

A new California law slated to go into effect on January 1, 2024, will mandate stores that sell children’s items to have a gender neutral section, according to a state government website.
The law applies to stores that sell “childcare items” or toys and employs a minimum of 500 employees across store locations, and it requires that they offer a section where “a reasonable selection of the items and toys for children that it sells shall be displayed, regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or for boys,” according to its text.

A new Biden administration rule forces schools to comply with progressive ideology on gender and sexuality or risk losing the federal aid for free and reduced-price school lunches. (snip) Practically, that could lead to schools being forced to allow transgender girls use facilities reserved for biological girls or to toe the line on preferred pronoun usage, among other things.
Senate Republicans tried and failed 47-50 to overturn the USDA reinterpretation via the Congressional Review Act.
“Don’t be fooled here, the Biden Administration is the only player in this policy fight that is taking away lunches from children,” U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kans., said after the effort failed.
