But there was another aspect to this, one that is even more likely to change minds and hearts in the direction of reality. It is the realization by the people with an antiquated view of the universities that their kids are likely to never see the inside of a big name campus. Oh, the very richest kids’ spawn will. They will have no problem getting into the Harvards and Yales because daddy has $1 billion and just paid for the new wing of the Social Justice and Decolonization Department building. But regular folks, whose children aren't able to check multiple boxes on the intersectionality form are out of luck.

I thought that decades ago when I was in college (large state university). College didn't teach me a thing. I was in engineering in the mid-1980s and the only female in most of my classes. I was an older student (dad that was a tool & die maker & taught me a lot) and there was another older student (male - worked for utility company) and the professors hated us. Both of us would take great pleasure in telling the professors that while their ideas looked great in theory, they wouldn't work in the real world and why :) I finally shifted over to an applied math major (computer science) to just finish college. The computer science department was a joke as well - all they taught was programming games or developing your own computer language. Really useful skills in the real world :( Luckily I could teach myself computer languages and did just fine in the real world.

#2 My college experience in the 60's/70' was exactly the same. Though I held a 4.0 GPA I was in constant conflict with the powers that be because I was a nonconformist and a Veteran during the height of the Vied Nam protest. I was informed by the head of the History Department "You veterans are all a bunch of troublemakers and shouldn't even allowed to go to school."

As a retired STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professor, I do mostly agree. We need more failures, but there is strong administrative pressure to reduce failure rates. Funding, at most universities, depends on enrollment, not on the students learning anything. The students who actually graduate with STEM degrees (about ⅓ of those who start college in those fields, and almost all of whom take more than the standard 4 years to do it!) can do about as well at almost any school with a PhD program in their field. The "great" universities are the place to go for graduate school. The faculties there mostly despise and avoid teaching undergrads, and leave the bulk of it to TAs (teaching assistants, who are their graduate students). However they prize and devote great attention to their first-rate graduate students, most of whom got their undergrad degrees at lesser schools.

Academia is what kept me out of college in the 70's when I had the opportunity to go. From what friends who graduated HS ahead of me told, it was nothing more than a big drug and sex party; something my parents could ill afford to send me to. So, I never made the big money or changed the world, but I'm on my second retirement, my first and only wife, and my kids are all grown and make me proud. I'd say I did ok.

There will be trade schools where engineers, scientists and other skilled professionals can learn the science, math and such that they need to work. Unfortunately "liberal arts" is pretty much a corrupted, dysfunctional, harmful disaster at this point. If you could get some honest history and civics taught, that'd be good, but currently the Commies and haters have infiltrated so thoroughly that nothing useful gets through them.

As reported earlier House Republicans voted down their most popular and respected member, Jim Jordan for House Speaker today. The Republican lawmakers held a secret ballot away from their voters and overwhelmingly decided to oust Jordan from the Speaker’s race. The Republicans voted 112-86 in a secret ballot to oust the Ohio Republican from the race. The House of Representatives has been without a Speaker for more than 2 weeks after Matt Gaetz filed a motion to vacate the chair. Kevin McCarthy was ousted as House Speaker earlier this month in a 216-210 vote. 8 Republicans voted to oust McCarthy: Biggs, Buck, Burchett, Crane, Gaetz, Good, Mace, and Rosendale.

If our government does not respect the Constitution, we have no constitution. If the government refuses to stand behind the principles of free speech, the right to free assembly, the right to petition the government, the right to a speedy trial, etc., those rights don’t exist. Instead, we simply have rule down the barrel of a gun…a gun held only in government hands. I thought of that when I read about Doug Mackey, sent to federal prison for seven months because he insulted Hillary voters, and Ryan Kelley, given an extra-long prison sentence on a misdemeanor because he didn’t grovel sufficiently before his J6 hanging judge.

The House speakership has not been a happy thing for Republicans lately. While Nancy Pelosi was a raging leftist who successfully corralled her party and rammed through the leftist agenda (love her or hate her, she was effective), the same cannot be said for recent Republican speakers. John Boehner and Paul Ryan were RINOs. Kevin McCarthy was much more conservative, and for that he deserves credit, but he reneged on promises, especially about January 6. Since his ouster, though, it’s been one humiliation Now, however, with Byron Donalds having thrown his hat in the ring, there’s hope. Whether you think Matt Gaetz was bold to punish yet another.

On October 7, the day Hamas attacked Israel, Inbal Rabin-Lieberman, a 25-year-old security coordinator at the Kibbutz Nir Am settlement located near the Gaza Strip, saved lives because she had a gun. After the kibbutz came under attack, Inbal hurriedly opened the armory and distributed guns to the twelve-member security team. She caught the Hamas murderers unawares because they were not expecting to meet armed resistance. Lieberman killed five terrorists while the others gunned down twenty-five before the Israeli Defense Force arrived. Because of her actions, Nir-Am was the only settlement bordering the Gaza Strip that did not suffer Israeli casualties during Hama’s attack.

Mitt Romney claims he didn’t know about Burisma when he voted to impeach President Trump, clearly lying because his former associate was on the Burisma Board too. It’s pretty clear that lying goes along with being a slimy politician. Mitt Romney provides the proof. Romney voted for the Trump impeachment when President Trump was impeached for doing his duty and looking into the activities of US politicians in Ukraine. Mitt Romney voted for the impeachment. This week, Mollie Hemmingway from the Federalist reported on Romney’s new book where he claims that he had no idea about Hunter Biden’s actions as Board member of Ukrainian oil and gas giant Burisma.

There are a lot of interesting responses in the United States to the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. Clearly, the most rational is to be outraged at the rape, kidnapping, and murder of Israeli civilians perpetrated by so-called soldiers of Islam. They are not soldiers or freedom fighters at all; they are savages unbound by any sense of military discipline or duty to the Palestinian people. If they were soldiers, they would consider Israel’s potential responses and the resulting damage to infrastructure and civilian casualties before launching such a cruel attack. We are very right to be outraged.

Just a few generations ago, most Americans understood that George Orwell’s classics Animal Farm and 1984 were written as a warning about how freedom is lost to the tyranny and intolerance of totalitarianism. Animal Farm and 1984 were particularly apt for teaching young people at a time when the shocking revelations about Nazism and Soviet communism that were coming out in the 1950s and 1960s were hard to digest. Most important, what these works revealed was that a defining feature of totalitarianism is mind control. First, propaganda warps and destroys people’s grasp on reality

The bogus victimhood is bottomless. Because grievance is the coin of their realm, and because many of them are incapable of arguing any other way, it should be unsurprising to see figures like Rashida Tlaib and various other Hamas apologists and anti-Semites claim that somehow they are the ones who've been wronged over the last two weeks. In a development that truly defies parody, Harvard students who signed an egregious, terrorism-justifying statement are now whining about the "bullying" they've experienced over the moral disgrace to which they signed their names. Something intriguing is happening with bitcoin. What started as a series of perplexing data “inscriptions” containing classified files from the U.S. government has now been confirmed by Bitcoin Magazine as an ongoing effort to cement information in the public record beyond the reach of government censorship. An anonymous guardian of free speech has begun using bitcoin to republish all of the information originally published by Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks back in 2010. Codenamed “Project Spartacus,” the operation seeks to take advantage of several inherent bitcoin attributes: (1) It utilizes bitcoin’s Ordinals protocol that allows users to add personalized data to units of the cryptocurrency’s blockchain.

The heinous actions of the Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023 can unequivocally be described as evil. It had as its genesis the inculcated belief that Jews are malevolent and subhuman, therefore, they are deserving of death, destruction and being conquered by any means possible including the unconscionable and premeditated slaughter of women, children and the elderly. In keeping with a tactic almost as old as mankind itself, the self-appointed leaders of Middle Eastern Islamic terrorist groups and the political leaders of nations such as Iran have manipulated their maleducated followers or citizenry into believing Israel and the Jews have either taken what is rightfully theirs,

House Republicans voted to drop Jim Jordan as their speaker nominee in a secret-ballot vote on Friday afternoon, shortly after the House Judiciary chairman failed to secure the gavel in a floor vote for the third time this week. Twenty-five House Republicans joined a united Democratic caucus in opposing Jordan’s third speaker bid on Friday, setting up the secret-ballot vote to strip him of the nomination. The GOP opposition to Jordan’s bid had steadily grown with each successive ballot: 2o members of the caucus voted against him on the first ballot and 22 voted against him the second time around.

It comes weeks after a panel of advisers to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled phenylephrine 'is not effective' at standard or even high doses when taken in pill or liquid form.

In other words, he won the governorship outright without having to face another rival in a November runoff.
