Debt-saddled Chinese property giant Country Garden said Tuesday that it did not expect to meet all of its offshore payment obligations in time as it edges towards a potential default.
Country Garden — one of China’s biggest property developers — had racked up debts estimated at 1.43 trillion yuan ($196 billion) by the end of 2022.
Its cash flow problems have ignited fears that it could collapse with consequences for China’s economy, which is already suffering from record-high youth unemployment, flagging consumption and a broader crisis in the real estate sector.
Country Garden, which was already formally at risk of default in September, last month repaid $22.5 million in interest

A naked selfie of Joe Biden's brother Frank has been discovered on a gay porn site.
The photo was uploaded to GuysWithiPhones.com in 2018, when Frank – who has a long-term female partner Mindy Ward – was 64. Even after more than five years, it is still live on the site.
It was first unearthed by right wing nonprofit Marco Polo, which has been investigating the Biden family for alleged political corruption and crimes for years. When approached by DailyMail.com, Frank, 69, conceded he was the man in the photo but denied he was the one who posted it.

The United States must urgently resolve the chaos at the U.S.-Mexico border, Kevin McCarthy has warned, or else risk allowing terrorists into the country unnoticed and succumbing to a similar attack to that in Israel this weekend.
McCarthy, who until last week served as speaker of the House, told The Washington Free Beacon on Monday that the attack should be a 'wake up' call for the White House, and blamed the Biden administration for emboldening Iran to back the plot.
He pointed out that known terrorists had already been found among those claiming to be migrants.

Beyond the immediate devastation, the shockwaves from the barbaric assault by Hamas on Israel are now reverberating across the world.
Monstrous in its scale, pitiless in its savagery, this unprecedented attack has ramifications that may be felt far beyond the Middle East — and for decades to come.
It is no exaggeration to argue that the primitive savagery displayed by Hamas at the weekend has sparked a geopolitical earthquake.
The sudden shifting of global tectonic plates means that not only Israel's local rivals, such as Iran, but the West's rivals, China and Russia, may well now move to take advantage of the immediate focus on the Middle East.

Some people are calling it “Israel’s 9/11.”
That makes sense, in that Hamas’ massacre was a totally unexpected massive terrorist attack with a huge body count of innocent people. Not as many people died as on 9/11 (though proportionately to Israel’s population it was worse than 9/11 was for America).
Because the assault involved shootings, rapes and kidnappings, it seems somehow more personal than the jets of 9/11.
But there’s one way in which it was identical, and that’s the “totally unexpected” part.
Like American intelligence agencies before 9/11, Israel’s security services were caught flat-footed.
Both American and Israeli officials have said it was a complete surprise.

After the worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust, Israel has three choices…
First, Israel can do what it’s done in the past, and that’s retaliate until the Jew-hating Christiane Amanpour crowd starts their pressure campaign with words like “disproportionate.” The result will be what it’s been for 50 years… Islamic terror attack after Islamic terror attack against Israeli civilians until another massive attack is brought off.
Second, Israel can follow America’s lead and launch a namby-pamby forever war. Year after year, decade after decade of “humane war” resulting in a humiliating defeat, more dead Israelis and civilians than an all-out war could ever cause.

Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ordered the “complete siege” of Gaza in a televised address, announcing that Gaza will be cut off from food, electricity, and water for the foreseeable future.
“We are fighting barbarians and will respond accordingly,” Gallant said. The Israeli Air Force, meanwhile, began bombarding targets throughout Gaza after Hamas launched a massive rocket attack on Israeli territory.

One of the lingering controversies over here in Hungary is the actions Prime Minister Viktor Orban took several years ago to kick Central European University out of the country. (Snip) All of this is preface for asking: is it time to shut down Harvard University? It is beyond dispute that Harvard is an adjunct of the Democratic Party, with something like 95 percent of faculty political contributions going to Democrats, and almost no political diversity among its faculty. But in the last 48 hours Harvard has exposed itself as a nest of rabid anti-Semites, with 57 student groups (so far) taking the side of Hamas against Israel, and blaming Israel

Anyone sentient (or with a retirement account) has to hope he is going to die before the SHTF. (Snip) Where did all the money go? Why don’t we have real growth? Why, other than the digital revolution, has nothing budged? Why are we still burning fossil fuels like primitives? Why do three billion of us have no access to energy? Why are two billion living in endemic poverty? Why, in the first world are we endlessly scrapping over carbon emissions and extinctions? Why do we have no growth, no progress, just back and forth, a bit of growth, recession, over and over and over again?

It’s a tragic fact that Hamas’ attack that killed hundreds last weekend was a deadly salvo against the very existence of the Jewish state of Israel. But it was also an attack on the West’s weaklings who have once again enabled terrorism. And, sadly, that includes the U.S.
It was no accident that Hamas used a “Festival for Peace” concert near Gaza as an offensive on the very existence of the multi-ethnic, democratic state of Israel. Those attending no doubt thought their good intentions and good wishes for peace would be a shield against such atrocities.
Sadly, terrorists saw this as vulnerability, and took advantage.

There was an awful lot of (fake) hand-wringing on the Sunday shows this weekend about the “chaos” in the House caused by Matt Gaetz’s successful coup in ousting Majority Speaker Kevin McCarthy. What’s even more despicable (predictably so) was the attempt to tie this alleged Republican chaos to the horrific attacks against Israel this holiday weekend by asking guests whether this (non-existent) chaos would hamstring Congress’s ability to act.
Never really in search of an answer, the questions were actually designed to make the point that House Republican incompetence and infighting jeopardize the United States’ ability to respond to international crises. More on that in a sec.

Former President Donald Trump is blamed for more of the world’s problems than even global warming, climate change, extreme weather, or we call 'weather' these days.
Trump is also blamed for much of the dysfunction in Washington, D.C., such as the recent ousting of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
Perhaps if McCarthy was a contestant on The Apprentice and Trump told him “You’re fired!”, then blaming Trump would be appropriate. (Snip) Rather than causing the problems, he is the voters’ response to decades of feckless GOP leadership and broken promises to their voters.
Nature abhors a vacuum, and the GOP offered up a decades-long vacuum of leadership and principles.

The book has received approval from Khamenei's office and is thus the most authoritative document regarding his position on the issue.
Khamenei makes his position clear from the start: Israel has no right to exist as a state. He claims his strategy for the destruction of Israel is not based on anti-Semitism, which he describes as a European phenomenon. His position is based on "well-established Islamic principles."
According to Khamenei, Israel, which he labels an "enemy" and "foe," is a special case for three reasons.

Young children and elderly grandparents were among the more than 100 hostages being held as human shields by Hamas last night.
Families have described the horror of only discovering their loved ones had been snatched by viewing chilling videos posted on social media by their gloating kidnappers.
Footage showed sobbing children and their helpless mothers being dragged from their homes and loaded into vehicles by heavily armed men before being taken to Gaza. It is feared two Britons could be among those being held after the terrorist group launched its bloody multi-pronged surprise attack.

As the world watches the atrocities of the past few days unfold in Israel — including Hamas terrorists going door to door to kill Israelis — it is notable that Israel does not have a U.S.-like Second Amendment and private gun ownership among Israelis is low.
The BBC reported that “Israeli gun ownership is low at about 2% of the population.” In contrast, the findings of a recent study by Rutgers University’s New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center estimated upwards of six in ten Americans own guns. The difference, in large part, is the Second Amendment. Israelis are allowed to own guns at whatever level their government approves whereas Americans

It’s hardly news that Americans are deeply dissatisfied with President Biden’s stewardship of the economy. The polls consistently show his approval rating well below 40 percent on this critical issue. Yet the President insists that this isn’t an accurate reflection of his economic record. As recently as last Friday, when asked by a reporter why so many Americans don’t feel good about the economy, he responded with this howler: “You get more legs when you’re reporting something that’s negative. I don’t mean you’re picking on me. It’s just the nature of things.” Biden actually claimed that adverse media coverage is to blame for the public’s low opinion of “Bidenomics.”

Joe Biden held a barbecue for his staff at the White House while at least four Americans were confirmed dead in the surprise attack by Hamas on Israel Saturday and Palestinian sympathizers protested at the president's gates.
A pool reporter overheard a band playing from the White House lawn while pro-Palestine protesters picketed outside the gates, chanting 'Free Palestine' and demanding the US cut aid to Israel.
The reporter questioned why they could hear the band, and a spokesperson replied: 'The President and First Lady are hosting a BBQ for White House Executive Residence staff and their families.

Sen. A claim in a news report that American weapons seized in Afghanistan have ended up in the hands of Palestinian groups operating in the Gaza Strip has taken on renewed significance after Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group, launched an attack on Israel on Saturday.

The Hamas invasion of Israel is the most significant military action against the Jewish state ever carried out by a terrorist group. The planning for this attack must have begun months ago in Tehran where the bulk of the funds used to arm and train fighters for the attack originated. Anyone who refers to Hamas as “freedom fighters” should have their head examined. The terrorists kidnapped dozens of civilians — infants, old people, women — and are holding them somewhere in Gaza. As the IDF looks to turn back the terrorists who have invaded seven different areas in the South of Israel, they must contend with the eventuality
