“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep still.”—Isaiah 62:1
On Saturday, Israel suffered the worst attack on its civilian population in 50 years. Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists in Gaza launched thousands of rockets at Israeli population centers and stormed through the security barrier into Israel where they massacred hundreds of Jewish men, women, and children. An untold number were also taken captive and thousands are seriously injured.
Fifty years ago, Israel was also caught by surprise when Arab armies invaded on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year. This time, the Palestinian terrorists chose to attack on Simchat Torah,

Hamas broke through a fortified border, had unchallenged freedom of movement inside Israel for a shockingly long time, and attacked….a dance music festival and some kibbutzim. Not airfields, not fuel depots, not power stations, not army motor pools to deny mobility to the enemy. They went after soft targets first, and focused especially on women and children. Eyewitness reports and footage of female hostages are telling us that Hamas engaged in sustained sexual violence, and took care to make it known. (Snip) The sexually traumatized bodies of women represent an extremely deliberate and calculated adoption, explicitly planned for months or years, of the familiar tools of ethnic cleansing.

The Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel are truly horrible and unprecedented. (Snip)Israel is known for its excellent intelligence capabilities and its high tech tools. But there was a fatal mistake.
Israel believed that it had hermetically sealed off Gaza and contained the threat from there. Even the rocket threat was understood to be controlled by Israel's Iron Dome, minimizing the chance of damage to Israeli population centers.
This belief is the root cause of what has just happened in Israel. It has let things fester in Gaza for decades. Israel never wanted to send in ground forces and clean out the enemy. Now the people of Israel

One of the lingering controversies over here in Hungary is the actions Prime Minister Viktor Orban took several years ago to kick Central European University out of the country. (Snip) All of this is preface for asking: is it time to shut down Harvard University? It is beyond dispute that Harvard is an adjunct of the Democratic Party, with something like 95 percent of faculty political contributions going to Democrats, and almost no political diversity among its faculty. But in the last 48 hours Harvard has exposed itself as a nest of rabid anti-Semites, with 57 student groups (so far) taking the side of Hamas against Israel, and blaming Israel

Anyone sentient (or with a retirement account) has to hope he is going to die before the SHTF. (Snip) Where did all the money go? Why don’t we have real growth? Why, other than the digital revolution, has nothing budged? Why are we still burning fossil fuels like primitives? Why do three billion of us have no access to energy? Why are two billion living in endemic poverty? Why, in the first world are we endlessly scrapping over carbon emissions and extinctions? Why do we have no growth, no progress, just back and forth, a bit of growth, recession, over and over and over again?

The American education system used to be the envy of the world, and we need to return to the tried and true ways of traditional classical education, according to the founder of a standardized test for classical education that’s an alternative to the College Board’s SAT.
“The mainstream education system is at fault in a generation that thinks America is the big, bad bully and that isn’t grateful for the country. A country cannot be sustained on this,” Jeremy Tate, founder of the Classic Learning Test, told Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts on his “Kevin Roberts Show” podcast.

As world government progresses, we as a citizenry act almost like stunned cattle, unable to mount any viable resistance. For decades, we have ignored the initiatives of the U.N., treating it as it demands to be treated, as a noble rescue agency that delivers food and blankets. Criticism is sharply limited, as is analysis.
(Snip) And, because of our quiescence, its methodology -- act without permission or impunity -- is advancing on the developed world. Behind the scrim of the media which treats anything from the U.N. the way fundamentalists do Bible verses, every sovereign state is setting aside one-third of its land mass

The Biden impeachment investigation began this week. If your source of news is CNN,MSNBC, and the Big Four TV networks, you didn’t know about this, the fourth such inquiry in U.S. history, because they blacked it out. Here’s a handy source to the workings of the House Oversight Committee which you might want to keep for reference.
It apparently wasn’t very significant to the press. Not like the round-the-clock coverage of the lie that Trump was colluding with Russia, a lie generated by Hillary Clinton and megaphoned by them. Have they noted that the FBI agent who helped launch the probe into this alleged collusion was ironically on the payroll

My father and grandmother were at a yacht club dance sometime in the late 30’s, in Metis, the most exclusive summer places of the old rich in my former world.(Snip)
At any rate, that night, a Prussian had parked his splendid ocean-going yacht in the harbour and was giving a talk during dinner or after. He was raising money for Hitler and at one juncture, don’t know what, he said something and all the men in the ballroom rose as one, frog marched him down to his launch and told him to never return to Canadian waters.
He then motored down to Kennebunk and picked up George W’s granddaddy,

Less than a month after President Trump’s inauguration, Time magazine rolled out the Democrat-RINO message of a chaotic White House. Its proof was as thin as the hair atop John Fetterman’s head.
Time reported, “Federal judges in four courts froze a hastily issued Executive Order barring certain immigrants from entering the country. Intelligence officials leaked descriptions of classified intercepts in a winning attempt to force Trump to fire his National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, who had misled the nation about his ties with a Russian diplomat. (Snip)
That was not chaos. That was sabotage by the deep state and its seditious resistance. The leaks were illegal and impossible to fact-check.

Tens of thousands of people — including substantial numbers of single military age males — illegally cross the southern border into the United States every week under the pretense of seeking aslyum. (Snip)
This has all the appearances of an organized invasion, with people funneled to the U.S. by cartels and others, included among them provocateurs who plant foreign flags on U.S. soil:
The Biden administration doesn’t care. It wants this.
Yet at the same time, the administration is moving to deport a family that had a viable claim for asylum and went through the process, winning at the hearing level then being denied on appeal.

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman said he has “lost [his] ability to fully process language” during a Senate hearing last week, despite previous assurances from his family, doctors and Democratic lawmakers that he is fully functioning and capable.
Fetterman said he is unable to communicate with his family and staff unless he uses special transcription technology and became emotional describing his mental state during a Senate hearing on Thursday. Concerns about Fetterman’s health arose during his 2022 senatorial campaign after he suffered a stroke; following the event, his doctor said he could “work full duty,” and Fetterman himself said he was “able to serve and to be running” for Congress.
Comments:
This piece is worth reading in its not-very-long entirety. Bryen is a strong supporter of Israel, as am I, but he sees the same weaknesses there that we can also see in our own country. Here, the problem is our foreign policy and military establishments, and there I believe it is the huge dominance of the government by elites with European and American mentalities, while much of the population would be thought of as deplorables. (Netanyahu is not liked by the elites and he has to fight them constantly.) I hope Israel can come to understand that coddling your enemy so they won't kill you is the worst long-term strategy there could be.
