WASHINGTON — Republicans are abandoning their long crusade to repeal the Affordable Care Act, making the 2022 election the first in more than a decade that won’t be fought over whether to protect or undo President Barack Obama’s signature achievement.
The diminished appetite for repeal means the law — which has extended health care coverage to millions of people and survived numerous near-death experiences in Congress and the courts — now appears safer than ever.
With slightly more than a month before the next election, Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail aren’t making an issue of Obamacare.

We're all socialists now. Tough to repeal when people have gotten used to it. Public ire has long dissipated. And now with lower prescription prices on the way...oh, boy!

While probably true, is the placement of this article by NBC a month out from the election just another bit of Operation Demoralize?

The Uniparty wants single payer so they can control the Death Panels. Once you stop working, they want you in a grave ASAP so they can shift your benefits to the next voter. In their globalist minds, we are just here to carry in their food and carry out their poop. We must get our country back!

Just as Barack Obama planned and predicted. Thank you, John Mccain, who cast the Republican vote that prevented the repeal of Obamacare. Get used to waiting months for the operation you used to get within a week, or three at most. Medical care in the U.S. has been seriously decreased by Obamacare, including the ever-increasing shortage of physicians. Unless Obamacare is repealed, these trends will continue, especially regarding seniors.

Maybe they are planning to refuse to fund it! That would be one way of getting rid of it! I don't see anything "affordable" about their Insurance. My daughter was on it for several years, single lady, and paid $700 a month for her BC/BS insurance. I thought this was supposed to be for people who couldn't AFFORD Insurance! Go Figure!

#6 I'm on Medicare and I'm only a couple hundred behind her for insurance cost per month.

Bottom line, wage earning, productive workers continue to pay to keep the parasites alive. Did we expect anything less? Republicans are doing their usual - asking for money to get reelected to sit in a chair for a couple more years until election time comes around again. Meanwhile, the population of parasites keeps growing and growing so maybe they are the smart ones?

I knew Obamacare was here to stay when John McCain torpedoed the repeal in 2017. The Republicans had 8 years to come up with an alternative to Obamacare, but when the time came, they proposed to kick the can down the road. They're useless - they talk conservatism, but continue to vote for more spending, more government control over our lives, and most importantly, more of the deep state. Screw them.

But, take heart, they are lowering the standards for prospective doctors to we will have lower cost insurance soon and lower grade healthcare along with it. Like Obama said, the solution is to not get sick.

I am 80 years old and on Medicare. Between the Medicare premium for part B and my private supplement, I am paying almost a thousand per month. Without a supplement and part B it's would be hard to find a decent doc to treat us.

This is why I choose to abandon sending money to all of the republican politician messages asking for "critical" donations. For example, they continue to provide taxpayer support for a liberal, conservative-hating public radio and TV entity that is clearly an democrat media outlet.

I don’t know why the others on Medicare have to pay so much in premiums. I pay only $115/month and have great coverage. I live in the Soviet Socialist Republic of California too. It must be the demographics of my locale. I ain’t complain’in. One more thing; no Ovomitcare. Nada!

"... signature achievement..." More like a scrawled X. Just another brick in the wall of the welfare state now. Like prison - the best way to avoid the scourge of it is not to need it. Does anyone ever hear someone bragging about the fact they're on Obamacare?

Obamacare took my health insurance premium for a family of 4 from 576.00/month to over 2400.00/month.
And my household was not that far above the average income levels (a tad over 100K per year).
We had to punt on standard coverage and go with one of the medical cost sharing arrangements (Medishare and Liberty).

When Trump comes in and changes Big Pharma, Obamacare will go away. This is by NBC. Really? Let's focus on the damage of the last two years. Obamacare is nothing compared to the reality we're in now.
