Liberals tell us that we are in the midst of a transition from fossil fuels to wind and solar energy. The reality is that no such transition is taking place, nor will it. This video by Professor Simon Michaux, who doesn’t take issue with global warming hype, explains one of several reasons why this is true: the mineral requirements of a wind- and solar-based energy system can’t possibly be met.
This description accompanies the YouTube video:
"The quantity of metal required to make just one generation of renewable tech units to replace fossil fuels, is much larger than first thought. Current mining production of these metals

It's all going to have to end, you know. The whole Green sheebang. Good for nothing, it and its votaries will have to be abandoned. Give us real energy, not this pretend stuff.

The additional power to just meet bev goals is 25% more than our projected baseline capacity.. Our country is not even able to deliver infant formula on time (except to the trans secretary)…it is not reasonably possible to build that much more capacity, the wires to transmit it, and to upgrade neighbor delivery capacity in that time frame…even if we had mining capacity to extract the mineral resources we have yet to find.

Very interesting. Add to the problem addressed in the article the problem that people use energy at night, on cloudy days, and on windless days and you put a ribbon around green’s coffin. What to mention land use.
How is this dead zombie idiocy still walking??

It is mind-boggling to me that apparently nobody has laid out the very straightforward Math (as this article does) associated with the underlying assumptions of what will be needed to create and sustain the full transition to "green energy". This article is a MUST READ and MUST CIRCULATE.
Any politician who still mandates or even promotes green energy after seeing these numbers should be tarred and feathered. Major fraud.
In a similar vein, I recently did some quick calculations regarding California's insane intent to outlaw ICE cars. Even disregarding the long-term unsustainability due to insufficient quantities of certain metals and other chemicals, California would have to increase its electrical generating capacity by at least 8000%! Fat chance of that happening.

Simple solution - - Victory Mines!
During WWII there were Victory Gardens - - where people grew their own veggies to help insure victory. So - - c'mon, folks - - get out your shovels - - go into your yard - - and start digging for rare earth minerals.
It's the patriotic thing to do!

As usual with liberal/socialist fantasies they don't think it through, nor do they count ALL the costs of their harebrained schemes. But you have to give them credit for salesmanship. They have a large portion of the population believing that SUVs will destroy the planet.
Not to worry, as soon as we learn to harness the power of unicorn flatulence our energy concerns will be over.

One enormous problem, air travel will remain stubborn using fossil fuels to fly those unstable windmills with solar panels just can't lift AF-1 off the ground. There will be other means of transportation that will demand fossil fuels. Keep the wind and solar for the quaint cabin in the woods. Then there's the nasty problem of battery disposal being hazardous to the environment. Electric vehicles belong on the golf course not on the interstate highway system.

The short-term result will be the bankruptcy of the US auto industry because they are yielding to government pressure to build cars that nobody wants nor can afford. Honda and Toyota stock will shoot through the roof. The stupidity will die and life will go on.

I have been inserting this issue into comments for a couple years.
There are other related problems as well. Often the mining is done by slave or forced labor. That would have to expand.
Further, the use of these minerals are is significantly in batteries. Consider that the Alarmists want us to use solar and wind which are only part time resources. Storage batteries become ESSENTIAL for this type of solution. MASSIVE amounts of batteries. IMPOSSIBLE amounts of batteries. Then as pointed out, when the first wave of batteries produced dies, like they are starting to in some EVs, we would have to produce an IMPOSSIBLE amount of batteries all over again. And again in another 15 years or so.
Zeus punished Sisyphus by forcing him to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for ETERNITY. This is what the Alarmists would sentence mankind to. Meanwhile, in failure to achieve the goal, people would be suffering and dying. Need an MRI after a car accident? Sorry, we don't have the energy for that today. Nope, there weren't any food deliveries this week. We don't have the energy to run the delivery vehicles or to harvest and package the crops.
And the capper! The Alarmists "science" has yet to PROVE that we are facing a crisis requiring this level of sacrifice OR that anything we do will make much difference in the face of NATURAL warming. They are using statistical analysis with woefully inadequate data and their answers are continually in flux. The technology we have for such analysis and projection is INSUFFICIENT TO THE TASK and likely will be for the foreseeable future.
At some point, people are going to figure all this out and get VERY angry and ask themselves, "HOW could we have fallen for this insanity and WHAT are we going to do to the people who tried to foist it on us?". "Oops! We goofed!" will be completely inadequate.

Its doomed to fail cause its not wanted. This isn't a market demand. This is goobernment central planning. And since when has goobernment done anything right? Just cause there is a voter based demanding it doesn't mean the rest of the world wants it. It doesn't provide a better alternative to the current situation. Stop goobernment subsidizes and guess what would happen. No demand for green crap. Forget infrastructure. This will not last cause the US hs already run out of other people's money and goobernment supported green crap will soon be a luxury that even drunken Democrats can afford. Oh, and the drenched Democrats don't prefer green crap. Just look at Paul Piglosi and his vehicles.

It was never meant to be possible. Start to finish it's a scam. It's about wealth and power for the few over the many. The term " fossil fuel " is meant to portray oil and gas as old fashioned and out of date and " green " energy as enlightened. Our planet is an oil producing machine. Hydrocarbons are synthesized abiotically which means dead dinosaurs need not apply.

C'mon, man. Who believes we are often visited by aliens from other, distant planets? How do they get here? They have far, far advanced technologies that must consume vast amounts of energy. I bet they're not based on "fossil" fuels. And that's why we have to get to the moon and Mars, I suppose, to discover new fields of these elements and minerals to mine and ship back to earth in one form or another. Utopia is on its way! Fire up those fusion generators, apply Tesla's theories about the transmission of electricity...and we're dang near there. California, here we come!!

The solution is already underway. If the population of the world is reduced to 500 million, about 1.6 times the current population of the USA alone, then, hey, no problems, since 94% of the people have been killed off, then we won't need 94% of that power and food, and all that, RIGHT? More "vaccines" and more "gain of function research" and things will get really rolling.
Bill Gates and his WEF partners have this all figured out.....just need to kill 7.5 billion people.
The WW2 Germans and Stalin were pikers.

Re #4, the kind of lame brain, non-logic using, math illiterates who make up the "ecocrazies" cannot grasp linear, logical, mathematical thinking and long range planning. They are emoters, and all is emotion for them.
They "feel" like it would be a good thing for "Gaia" to do these things.
And since for them a cell phone, an automobile or a television are functionally precisely identical to a Harry Potter magic spell, as far as grasping their basic underlying principles, they imagine "those people who have made all this OTHER 'magic' will just make this NEW 'magic'......because we ordered it to happen.
Regardless of the laws of physics, the availability of resources, and the limitations of economics......the "magic" will just happen, as it has up until now.
They truly cannot grasp the fundamentals of engineering, physics or economics. I look around at things and I know either precisely or nearly so how every single piece of the technology works, and for any mechanical things, I can take them apart, repair them and reassemble them. But for the ecocrazies, almost all of them treat all these things as "black boxes" that work by some unknowable magical spells. So have the 'magicians' just use different spells, right?
When you have not the slightest grasp of physics and engineering, all things are equally easy.

Green energy cannot produce enough power to mine/refine the metals needed to build green energy...not even any of the equipment to do so.

“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.”
As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes, everything "under the sun" is vanity, and a chasing after wind. Our constitution was written, mainly, and hopefully, to restrain corrupt men's power; but corrupt men (and women) always find their way around it - they find legal loopholes, or they find a corrupt judge (or other bureaucrat ) to create one.
So, friends, pray "for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way."

And they all knew this from the beginning. It's all about greed and power and stealing taxpayer money. Look at all of the politicians who got rich from a total hoax. Remember that green energy company Solyndra. Obama gave them 500 million dollars of taxpayer money and they were bankrupt in less than three years. Think about that. 500 million taxpayer dollars gone into the pockets of freakin crooks. And how much did Obama get ??????

In the early 80s, I spent a year on an internship with the U.S. Geological Survey, in Menlo Park, CA. I thought I'd be doing earthquake studies with their in-house earthquake guru but would up tasked with developing projections of future oil & gas exploration, production, refinement, and distribution and merging those data with economic metrics that were difficult to project as Reagan's economic policies had already changed the inflation landscape for the better and the old data were no longer valid for making projections. I was extremely interested in Prof. Michaux's video presentation in the article and found no fault with methodology or conclusions. Michaux cleverly used data obtained from climate nazi presentations and applied with his own specialized data from the science of metallurgy, the study of the properties of metals and their exploration, mining, reduction, production, and purification. Those activities are super-fundamental building blocks for the left's Green vision. Michaux shows that the Green vision is totally and completely divorced from any scientific /economic facts or knowledge. Basic metallurgy has been practiced since 40,000 BC, when in some cultures, rocks like flint and obsidian gave way iron ore based metals used as edged tools for cutting, piercing, and digging. Silver, copper, tin, and lead smelting and manufacture quickly followed. In other words, in the world of metal, a lot is known, including rare earth metals that are critically essential to current battery and electric generator manufacturing. Rare Earth minerals (ore) are...rare and the deposits aren't concentrated to allow for economies of scale in mining. Michaux's logic needs to hit the mainstream and used by conservative politicians, as our current government is on a non-sustainable - or even achievable - pretend path of transformation to so-called renewable energy. This is a path of complete industrial and agricultural devastation and creates the mother-of-all national defense vulnerabilities. The challenge is fitting the extremely compelling information into the requisite sound-bite sizes, necessary in today's mass communication systems.
