Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is maintaining a 7-point lead over his Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke, according to a new poll released on Wednesday.
The University of Houston-Texas Southern University survey found that 49 percent of likely voters supported Abbott, while 42 percent supported O’Rourke. The results of Wednesday’s survey track with other recent polls. An August poll from the Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler also showed Abbott holding a 7-point lead over O’Rourke.
Support for the two candidates breaks down sharply along partisan lines, with “virtually every Texas Democrat”

Lol, those pollsters need to be ashamed. One look at the results they are pub earthling should convince them that they are wrong. Siri should be 95 to 5.

I hope the left keeps offering up Beto every election, because it makes the loss of that seat by the Democrats assured in Texas.

If this accurate, which seems unlikely, it is proof of how many California and other leftist folks have moved to Texas and continue to vote stupid.

That's all? Seven points! Beto can make that up with only lightly cheating. This poll must have been taken at the Houston Chronical offices.

Please keep in mind the amount of immigration, both illegal and legal, that has hit Texas in recent years. There have been waves of transplanted Blue-staters, as well as a smattering of illegals from practically every country in the world. With an estimated 2 million border crossers into Texas answering Biden's call, there is no way to adequately segregate the illegals from the voting population when conducting political surveys. That is why no one from the Biden administration bothers to come see the carnage at the border. The U.S. government now has a dedicated policy of using immigration to turn Texas blue again, as it was for a hundred years before the democrat party became infested and driven by pure dee communists.

I hope Texans pay zero attention to any poll. Abbott should be campaigning every bit as hard as Trump used to - no matter what the polls say.

42% polled were for Beto? I'm betting 10% were illegals, 22% California and other Left Coast transplants and only 10% actual Texans - brain dead though they must be.
Beto's gonna make us forget Harold Stassen and his multiple candidacies.

If this poll is even remotely accurate, the changed demographics of Texas have reached the democrat goal of flipping the state blue! Between illegal invaders and California liberals escaping the mess that they left behind, Texas is done!

We aren't greedy. Win by 10 points and keep all the state wide offices in Republican hands.
As I tell my out of state Democrat friends, yes, someday there will be a Democrat elected to state wide office in Texas. It just won't be in 2022 and 2024 isn't looking good, either. Texas Dems who are trying to raise out of state money to "Turn Texas Blue" are just scamming their out-of-state rubes.

Wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air if these pollsters were forbidden to push misinformation in the future when Abbott wins by 75% or better? A factor of 10 penalty. They say beetle is only behind by 7 points if they are wrong by 70% then they are not permitted to publish any polls for 10 years?

Seven percent. Is that all? Texas, you need to be ashamed of yourselves and will sorely regret that idiot O'Rourke being your governor. He is an idiot.

I'll take it, but only 7 points? Early and mail in voting can cover that.

Gov. Abbott is thankful in his nightly prayers Beto is his opponent. If you liked Dubya, you'll love All-Hat Abbott. He'll get my vote by default.
