"For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it." That's Thomas Jefferson, the Father of the University of Virginia, describing his beloved institution's creed to English historian William Roscoe. I think it is also a fitting description of the American Thinker community, who often tussle with difficult stories because that is where the truth takes us. Several members of the community recently focused my attention on the plight of J6 political prisoner Jonathan Mellis, who has already spent nineteen months in the American Gulag for the "crime"

Please pause for a moment and say a prayer for the vulnerable and terrified Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Mars), a key member of Amerikkka’s marginalized community of color. So marginalized, despised, discriminated against, and harassed is AOC that she had to take to the pages of GQ, that plucky, ragtag samizdat mouthpiece of the people, to explain just how marginalized and harassed she is.
In a loving interview topped with lavish glamor shots of the rising political star, a teary-eyed AOC revealed that there is such a tidal wave of misogyny in the evil, MAGA-ridden United States today that she isn’t even sure she will live through the month of September.

The operator of California’s power grid is advising state residents to prepare for rolling outages because of a heatwave. Governor Gavin Newsom constantly brags about the state’s commitment to green energy, but he can’t even keep the power on.
How will they power all the electric cars once they ban gas-powered vehicles if they can’t keep the power on? (Snip) BREAKING: California’s grid operator has just issued a level 2 energy emergency alert, upgrading from level 1 issued earlier. @California_ISO is now advising Californias to “be ready for potential rotating power outages” this evening as electricity demand may hit all time high.

Because most people don’t know a farmer personally anymore, everyone should realize that they don’t make piles of money producing our food. A good year can be followed by three bad ones, and 2022 has been a burden. Between record heat waves in the U.S. and abroad, droughts in the middle of the country, fertilizer shortages, and rising costs for just about every farm input, many American farms are on the brink. Everyone will feel the pinch in continued food price increases and shortages at the store.
As bad as the agricultural outlook is in America, it is far worse in Europe. The dedication to a green energy suicide pact

Cast your mind back to Thanksgiving in 2020 and 2021, when J. Edgar Fauci was telling us that we could only have something like six people over for dinner, preferably eating outside, and all socially-distanced by at least twelve turkey-lengths, or 0.2 furlongs or something. Someone promptly produced a meme of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer saying, “No one is going to tell me how many people I can have for dinner on Thanksgiving!”
Tasteless and sick, to be sure. Also pretty funny. And not really new. I remember that after the initial shock and horror of Dahmer’s crimes were discovered 25 years ago, the comics got to work with tasteless jokes

Update 10:18: According to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect wrecked the vehicle he was driving and is in police custody. Fox News 13 in Memphis reports that an ambulance is responding to the scene of the car crash. Police are asking people to avoid the area of Whitehaven near Ivan Road and Hodge Road. The shelter-in-place orders and lockdowns have been lifted. At this hour, no official victim count has been released.
Fox 13 obtained a photo of the smiling suspect from a source: (Snip) According to court records, Kelly was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony,

Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman has made criminal justice reform a big part of his campaign. As lieutenant governor, Fetterman oversees the board of pardons and called it his “bully pulpit” for criminal justice reform.
But what kind of “reform” is Fetterman looking to enact? In January, he named long-time criminal justice reform advocate Celeste Trusty to serve as secretary of the board. Trusty has repeatedly bragged about her “friendship” with Mumia Abu-Jamal, who murdered Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. Freeing Abu-Jamal because of his “wrongful conviction” has been a radical left cause for everyone from the pope to pop stars so it’s not surprising

Liberals tell us that we are in the midst of a transition from fossil fuels to wind and solar energy. The reality is that no such transition is taking place, nor will it. This video by Professor Simon Michaux, who doesn’t take issue with global warming hype, explains one of several reasons why this is true: the mineral requirements of a wind- and solar-based energy system can’t possibly be met.
This description accompanies the YouTube video:
"The quantity of metal required to make just one generation of renewable tech units to replace fossil fuels, is much larger than first thought. Current mining production of these metals

It sounds like a bad horror movie script from the 1960s, but it isn’t.
The Epoch Times is reporting that embalmers from around the nation are speaking out about strange blood clots they have been finding in the bodies of the deceased since around 2020 or 2021. (Snip) The clots are said to be white, fibrous, and rubbery and can be the size of a grain of sand or as long as a human leg. They can be as thick as a pinky finger. One embalmer claimed they can be “nearly the strength of steel.” Embalmers across the nation are contending that these clots are not normal.

EAGLE, Colorado -- There is something going on here in Colorado politics that is not much different than what happened in Virginia exactly one year ago: a shift away from the status quo and the odds-on favorite Democrat toward his Republican challenger.
Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., is seeking a second full term against Republican challenger Joe O'Dea. And the question, in a state where people tend to dislike both parties but increasingly favor Democrats, is whether O'Dea is independent enough to earn their vote.
Democrats viewed O'Dea as enough of a threat that they dropped $10 million into the Republican primary to manipulate voters

If there is anything that has advanced American society, you can be sure that ‘woke’ leftists will destroy it. So it is with Title IX – a one-sentence statute of the Education Amendments of 1972 that ended sex-based discrimination in educational institutions, opened the doors for women aspiring to become doctors, engineers, or experts in any field of choice, brought parity to college sports, and launched the battle against sexual harassment. In this fiftieth year of that landmark law, the Biden administration wants to rewrite it to suit the radical leftist ideology of gender identity and fluidity.
This is dangerous because it codifies the spreading gender derangement of the left.

Sheesh. This is a tough one, but someone has to write about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently letting the cat out of the bag regarding why she switched to almost exclusively wearing her signature pantsuits throughout her political career. A long-held secret.
In a recent interview with CBS News’s Norah O’Donnell, Clinton and her daughter Chelsea sat down at a diner and discussed their new eight-part Apple TV+ docuseries Gutsy, which is based on The New York Times bestselling book The Book of Gutsy Women.
After discussing various topics in the upcoming series, O’Donnell changed direction, saying to Hillary, “You also reveal why you wear a pantsuit?”
