We are once again in the silly season. The elite propaganda media and its Democrat allies are convincing themselves that a dramatic turn is coming. If you read the current breathless analysis and coverage: the Republicans have nominated weak, inadequate candidates for the Senate; recently-passed laws give Joe Biden and the Democrats “real momentum;” and the massive Democrat Party advantage in fundraising will give their candidates huge advantages in defining the election. We have been here before. In August 1980, Reagan was reportedly underperforming. He went on to win the biggest electoral college victory against an incumbent president

A new report is shedding light on exactly how the DOJ investigation into Donald Trump over supposed “classified documents” at Mar-a-Lago got started. The FBI recently raided the former president’s Florida home, claiming possible violations of the Espionage Act and other national security concerns. What flowed after the unprecedented action was a series of coordinated leaks from inside the government meant to make Trump look guilty of crimes. But how did things get that far? Apparently, it started with the National Archives, which is run by a partisan hack who decided to treat Trump differently from all other presidents before him.

To make matters worse, the Chinese state has been open about its hostility to the United States (Snip) "Promoting the great unity of the Chinese people is the historic responsibility of China's patriotic united front work in the new era," said Chinese ruler Xi Jinping at the end of last month to Communist Party cadres in Beijing. "To do the job well, we must... truly unite all Chinese people in different parties, nationalities, classes, groups, and with different beliefs, and those who are living under different social systems." "Different social systems" is Party lingo for "other countries." Xi's words sound benign, but the intent is not.

There’s genuine danger from AI, but not in the form that the public thinks. The idea of a single, sentient Skynet that will take over the world is probably not feasible. Facebook Meta’s new AI chatbot BlenderBot 3 made minor news when it called Mark Zuckerberg ‘creepy and manipulative.’ How could a product turn against its owner? Because it learns by observing others. The power of modern AI lies in its ability to find patterns in masses of data. If BlenderBot trained on human datasets, then it would reflect the fact that many people perceived Zuckerberg as ‘creepy’ rather than reaching that conclusion from logic built into it.

President Joe Biden’s White House was intimately involved in the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) criminal probe into former President Donald Trump, according to government documents reviewed by Just The News. Several correspondences between Trump’s attorneys and members of the Biden administration revealed that the federal government appeared poised to waive Trump’s claims of executive privilege over documents that Trump kept at Mar-a-Lago until earlier this year.

As soon as President Biden took office, the number of foreigners crossing the southern U.S. border illegally exploded. When asked about it in his first press conference in March 2021, Biden brushed it off, saying “this happens every year” and “nothing has changed.” [snip] This chart proves that everything Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas have said about tackling the border crisis were flagrant lies. The chart compares monthly “apprehensions” at the border under Biden with the average monthly apprehensions from 2012 through 2020.

A new poll finds that more than half of Americans think the U.S. is being invaded by illegal aliens flooding into the country. And they are right, no matter what President Joe Biden claims, or how diligently the mainstream press tries to cover it up. “More than half (54%) of Americans think it’s at least somewhat true that we’re experiencing an invasion at the southern border,” according to the NPR/Ipsos poll. That is a shocking finding, given the denials from the administration that there is a crisis at all, and the fact that the mainstream media will cover anything but the flood of illegal immigrants under Biden.

When I was an undergraduate in the late 1960s, I underwent a kind of transformative experience during a classroom debate with another student that I believed I was clearly winning when the philosophy professor corrected me. He reminded me that when engaged in a philosophical debate, as opposed to the 9th grade Debating Challenge, the point is not simply to vanquish one’s opponent but to find the truth. In order to do the former one may use any means fair or foul to destroy the opponent. For the latter one must do the exact opposite and represent one’s opponent’s position in the strongest terms possible.

No doubt still sulking over the Roe v. Wade reversal — the opening sentence of their recent op-ed published in The New York Times is, “When liberals lose at the Supreme Court — as they increasingly have over the past half-century” — two Ivy League professors laid out their claims for an America without Constitutional limitations. They suggest, “the way to seek real freedom will be to use procedures consistent with popular rule.” Of course, the piece is polished sewage: tyranny of the majority is a very real, and very dangerous threat to the individual, (perhaps they should go read Federalist 10, but they likely wouldn’t understand that either).

Get ready, New York, it’s primary day — again! After picking nominees for the state Assembly and statewide offices like governor and senator back in June, residents of the Empire State are being asked to turn up again Tuesday to decide primaries for the House of Representatives and the state Senate. “Turnout is the variable in every primary, but we are in uncharted territory,” political consultant Evan Stavisky told The Post Monday. “New York has never had an August primary, so it’s an open question how many people are going to participate.”

The Pentagon has denied a second request by Washington DC's mayor to help receive migrants arriving from Republican-led states Texas and Arizona. Mayor Muriel Bowser in July called for the deployment of the District of Columbia National Guard to help with migrants describing it as a 'humanitarian crisis'. Bowser asked for 90-day deployment and for a review at the end of that period, but the request was denied by the U.S. military. She repeated her request on August 11 - this time providing a specific 90-day timeline that would begin on August 22.

A 60-year-old Uber driver has been killed in Dallas after her car was swept away in floodwaters while she was on the phone with her husband - with the grim news coming just as Texas recorded the wettest August day in history. As of 2pm on Monday, 5.66 inches had fallen - breaking the record of 4.28 inches set in 1946. It was the second wettest August day of all time for the state; only a September day in 1932 beat Monday's total. Police and fire crews responded to hundreds of calls, wading through floodwaters to rescue terrified, stranded civilians.

Through legislation and alliances with other leftist governments in the region, officials in this South American nation hope to turn their country into a laboratory for drug decriminalization.
