A federal judge on Wednesday overruled a Maine school district that banned a parent from school property after he exposed library books promoting transgenderism and pornography.
The U.S. District Court for Maine issued a temporary restraining order allowing Shawn McBreairty back on school property after the father filed a lawsuit claiming the ban violated his constitutional rights. The court ruled that the First Amendment protects McBreairty's comments at board meetings, where he has spoken out against sexualized school library books. The court also determined that the school board selectively applied its speech policy, which prohibits "vulgarity," against McBreairty.

The New York Times published a series of op-eds by its opinion columnists Thursday that began with the phrase "I Was Wrong About." As part of the collection, Bret Stephens admitted he was wrong to label Trump supporters "appalling."
Stephens said, "The worst line I ever wrote as a pundit" was the first he ever wrote about Trump: "If by now you don’t find Donald Trump appalling, you’re appalling."
"This opening salvo, from August 2015, was the first in what would become dozens of columns denouncing Trump as a unique threat to American life, democratic ideals and the world itself," he continued. Stephens said he "regret[s] almost nothing

Welp, here we go again — with more ignorance of the role of the United States Supreme Court in the aftermath of the Roe overturn. Only this time, the idiocy comes from within SCOTUS, courtesy of Elena Kagan, who on Thursday claimed the legitimacy of the Court is tied to its conformity with public opinion.
Roll that over in your mind a couple of times.
Silly me. All this time, I thought the Supreme Court’s role was that of final arbiter of the law, thus ensuring the American people with the promise of equal justice under the law and, thereby, as guardian of the Constitution

The Biden administration on Friday announced a new $270 million security assistance package for Ukraine, which includes High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and 36,000 rounds of ammunition.

Since war is universally understood as a military engagement between two opposing nations or groups of nations in alliance with each other, few realize that the United States is already in a war -- a world war. It’s not a shooting war like World War I and World War II (or the Cold War, which we will consider as WW III), but the stakes are just as high and deadly. Waged by globalist elites and marketed under banners such as “the Green New Deal,” “Build Back Better,” and the “Great Reset,” this war is being waged by cabals and organizations both within and from outside our borders.

Two children have tested positive for monkeypox in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed Friday. One is a toddler from California; the other is in an infant who is not a U.S. resident and was 'transiting through' Washington D.C. Neither had contact with each other. Health officials said both children were 'doing well', but warned children under the age of eight are at high risk of severe monkeypox. It is thought both children likely caught the virus from 'household contacts'. Dr Rochelle Walensky said the children both had contact with gay or bisexual men—the community where most cases are being detected in the current outbreak.

Weekly virus fatalities hit 151 in the seven days ending July 16, compared to 115 in the worst week of the previous flare-up in March, according to Health Ministry data. It means the country's current mortality rate is twice as high as the UK's and four times higher than the US.(Snip)Jacinda Ardern's Government dropped its zero-Covid policy, which saw the nation nicknamed a 'hermit kingdom', last year once the population was largely vaccinated, with eight in 10 people now double-jabbed. Since then, the virus has spread.

A 43-year-old man accused of attacking Representative Lee Zeldin (R., N.Y.) with a sharp object at a campaign stop in upstate New York on Thursday evening was charged with a felony and released from custody just hours after his arrest, police said.
Zeldin, who is New York’s Republican gubernatorial candidate, was giving a speech on bail reform at a stop on his “Unite to Fire Hochul” bus tour in Perinton when David G. Jakubonis allegedly charged at him and pulled out a sharp object.
Jakubonis was charged with attempted assault in the second degree and was released on his own recognizance

Twitter reported a surprise decline in quarterly revenue on Friday — and partially blamed its ongoing battle with Elon Musk for the unexpectedly weak results.
The social media site reported $1.18 billion in revenue during the March through June quarter — a 1% year-over-year decline. Analysts had expected Twitter to post $1.34 billion in revenue, according to Refinitiv data. In a release, Twitter blamed “headwinds associated with the macro-environment as well as uncertainty related to the pending acquisition of Twitter by an affiliate of Elon Musk.”
Twitter shares were down 2.3% in pre-market at $38.60 trading on Friday.

Ukraine and Russia have signed a UN-backed deal to allow the export of millions of tonnes of grain from blockaded Black Sea ports, potentially averting the threat of a catastrophic global food crisis.
A signing ceremony at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul was attended by the UN secretary general, António Guterres, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s president, who had played a key role during months of tense negotiations.
Guterres said in remarks at the ceremony that the deal would open the way to significant volumes of food exports from Ukraine and alleviate a parallel food and economic crisis in the developing world. He said “the beacon of hope

Former President Donald Trump went on a rant on his Truth Social social media network in the aftermath of Thursday's primetime January 6 hearing.
'Why haven't the Unselects asked for Secret Service corroboration of the so-called "choke hold?"' asked Trump. 'Because they know the answer, and don't like it. A Kangaroo Court!'
The former president was referring to testimony from ex-Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who said during a hearing last month that she heard Trump had tried to grab the steering wheel

This is the heartwarming moment a starving polar bear whose tongue became caught inside a tin can was dramatically rescued.
The female called Monetochka had sought human help after the sharp-edged condensed milk container got wedged to her tongue.
A team of rescuers flew 2,125 miles from Moscow to reach the Arctic port of Dikson, one of the world's remotest settlements, after the bear seemingly pleaded with residents for help.

Word is that the Biden Justice Department is finally getting set to press charges against first son Hunter after long dragging its feet on the probe. But it looks likely the feds will shy from the key issues exposed in The Post’s reporting on Hunter’s laptop to spare Democrats in advance of this year’s midterm elections. The probe began way back in 2018; Hunter himself admitted prosecutors were “investigating my tax affairs” back in December 2020. (G-men are said to have expanded the investigation to include potential money-laundering, lobbying and firearms violations.) CORRECTION*

Sharks are treating New York waters like a restaurant—and the state government is the maître d’. Great whites and other sharks have been coming close to Long Island beaches this year to feast on a particular kind of bait fish that has been flourishing in New York waters ever since the state legislature voted unanimously to preserve it three years ago. With the population of Atlantic menhaden booming, sharks are swimming into shore like tourists bellying up to a buffet, and in the process, they are coming close to bathers—with disastrous results, experts told The Post.(Snip)The state has since tried to offset the consequences of its legislation

We have heard it before, “No, Hollywood is not responsible for America’s unique gun culture.” This is often followed by a “gun grab” narrative. Of course, Hollyweird wants you to believe this – they have a financial interest in doing so.
Others would disagree. Finally, we have one Hollyweird celebrity willing to come out and say so publicly. A recent “Real Time” with Bill Maher’s monologue gave a scathing indictment that Hollyweird has a significant responsibility regarding the cause of gun violence in America. Below are some excerpts from Mahar’s monologue.

The Supreme Court rejected a policy by the Biden administration to prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants who pose a threat to national security or public safety.
In a 5-4 decision, the court’s order freezes the policy for now, but justices said it would hear arguments on the case, likely in late November. Conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett sided with the three liberal judges who would have allowed Biden to initiate the directive.

I have to hand it to the Jan. 6 Committee. They’ve already proven what hacks they are, yet they just keep digging that hole deeper for themselves and in so doing, they keep revealing how empty their case is.
Let’s be frank — the whole point of the Jan. 6 effort is to try to do all they can to take down Donald Trump, because they’re afraid he’ll run again and win in 2024. So, if they wanted to be honest about it, what they’re doing is an effort to “interfere” in the 2024 election ahead of time.

In opening comments Wednesday for the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on so-called “assault weapons,” Democrat Senator and gun-confiscation enthusiast Dick Durbin threatened that it is “time to name and shame” the makers of AR-15s, the rifle Democrats have demonized as “weapons of war.” Gun manufacturers aren’t the trigger-pullers behind mass shootings, but they are a much easier and more politically useful scapegoat to target than the criminally insane minds of the actual shooters. Democrats aren’t interested in ending gun violence anyway; if they were, they would be holding hearings on the shootings perpetrated by gang members in Democrat-run inner cities, by terrorists, and by the criminally insane.

If there is one concept that captured the brilliant vision of President James Madison for government, it was his statement in Federalist 51: “Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.” The use of checks and balances to prevent the concentration of power was key to the stability of the constitutional system that he created. Indeed, his own home at Montpelier may now be an example of what happens when there is such a concentration of power and no check on its abuse. (Snip)
The exhibits now emphasize Madison “the enslaver,” and visitors have complained that there is little comparative attention to his contributions to political theory and institutions.

For followers of “Star Trek,” one of the most memorable antagonists is the Borg, a race of beings composed of organic and biomechanic body parts linked together in a hive mind called the “Collective.”
In their quest to achieve perfection, the Borg travel through the galaxy extending their power and control by integrating the knowledge and technology of other alien species through a process called “assimilation,” whereby individuals are forcibly injected with nanoparticles that alter their cellular DNA and transform them into drones for the Collective. The news these days for President Joe Biden and his errant son Hunter is almost all bad. As the Justice Department investigates Hunter Biden for tax and weapons charges, it’s become increasingly obvious over the years that Joe Biden has far more to answer for than Hunter does. The headlines haven’t been kind to the Biden White House of late: “Hunter Biden payments to Eastern European escort ring were flagged by bank: Report,” “Hunter Biden laptop shows dozens of meetings with dad, business partners,” “Overwhelming Evidence: Joe Biden Lied, Had Dozens of Meetings with Hunter Biden’s Business Partner,” CORRECTION*

As Federal prosecutors wrap up their investigation into Hunter Biden, a former Department of Justice official believes the president's son has landed a 'generous' plea deal to only admit minor charges.
Lawyer Jim Trusty, former chief of the DOJ's Organized Crime Section, said reports that the investigation is coming to an end suggests that Hunter will be hit with minor tax charges and for making false statements when purchasing a handgun in 2018.
He believed it was unlikely that Biden would face any charges involving the investigation into alleged money laundering and violation of lobbying laws that claimed Biden used his father for controversial business dealings overseas.

A Pennsylvania Democrat facing one of the toughest races in the midterm elections said she "might have to school" rural Trump voters in order to win their support.
Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa., is running for reelection in Pennsylvania's redrawn 7th congressional district, which now includes Republican-friendly Carbon County. During a virtual meet & greet on Monday, Wild said the Republican voters of Carbon County may need to be educated on the error of their ways.
"Carbon County has many attributes, but it is a county that – although it was once an Obama county – it since has become a Trump county," she said.

Donald Trump watched his supporters storm the US Capitol on television while his senior staff begged him to call the rioters off, the January 6 committee has claimed.
Democratic congresswoman and committee member Elaine Luria introduced a prime-time hearing on Thursday by saying the committee would present evidence to show Mr Trump failed to act while the attack unfolded.
“This hearing is principally about what happened inside of the White House that afternoon, from the time when President Trump ended his speech until the moment when he finally told the mob to go home. A span of 187 minutes, more than three hours,” she said.
