Allahpundit covered this question earlier today and his is the most even-handed take on the competing arguments I’ve seen. If you haven’t read it you should read the whole thing, but the very short version is this. The leak could have come from a progressive looking to pressure the court to change its decision or, alternatively, it could have come from a conservative looking to lock the court in to the arguments in the draft decision.
Both arguments sound plausible to me but I have to say that my first impulse was exactly the same as Allahpundit’s. Last night I assumed it is was the work of someone on the left,

The Walt Disney Co. has lost nearly $63 billion in market capitalization since it decided in March to embrace radical LGBTQ activism and declare war on Florida by opposing the state’s Parental Rights in Education law.

Via InstaPundit, a good question about the Supreme Court leak: Is the FBI going to raid the house of the Politico reporter who published the Alito opinion? Or is that just reserved for reporters who get Ashley Biden's diary? Was leaking the draft opinion to Politico a crime? I don’t know. The threat of cyberattack from Russia fueled more than half of the FBI’s 3.39 million warrantless searches of Americans’ data last year, according to a government report. Kris Kobach, the former Kansas Secretary of State, is now dominating in his run to be the state’s attorney general.
A new poll by WPA Intelligence shows Kobach leading his GOP primary opponents by 40 percentage points. As Kobach takes 52 percent in the race, his opponents Tony Mattivi and Kellie Warren take a combined 19 percent while almost 3-in-10 likely Republican voters are undecided.
Since last year, the poll finds Kobach’s support in the race has grown by more than 10 percentage points. Then, Kobach was still dominating his opponents with a nearly 30-point lead.

Democrats would have us believe that January 6th last year was one of the darkest days in American history. It wasn’t. In fact, it’s not even in the top 1,000. But it was a horrible day in another regard. It was on January 6, 2021 when we learned that in the runoff elections the day before, both U.S. Senate seats in Georgia had flipped from Republican to Democrat, including the seat won by Raphael Warnock who defeated Republican Kelly Loeffler.
With the loss of those two seats, the chamber became split evenly at 50-50, Republicans to Democrats, and with Vice-President Kamala Harris being the tie-breaking vote,

Finland's top prosecutor announced Friday she will appeal a unanimous court decision rejecting her allegations of “hate speech” against a Christian politician for quoting the Bible on Twitter. As we reported earlier, Politico published a blockbuster piece Monday containing what’s said to be “an initial draft majority opinion” on the Mississippi pro-life case currently before the Supreme Court where Justice Samuel Alito wrote that “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled.”
While draft opinions are subject to change and no actual ruling has been made, the misleading report from Politico has caused much predictable pouncing and seizing and pearl-clutching amongst The Usual Suspects, who are putting out calls to “burn it all down.” Some are even marching in front of a now-barricaded Supreme Court building as we speak similar to the hysteria

It’s shocking. Not that the Supreme Court would overturn Roe, but that someone would presumably leak a draft opinion (we don’t know if it is the current one) to change the ruling. Chief Justice John Roberts reverences the integrity of the Court. That a decision was leaked is abhorrent — and one so critical to who we are as a nation! Someone was trying to undermine constitutional law by leaking it.
The Court has been wrong for nearly 50 years about abortion. Some cheap stunt should not change matters.

If you thought you were going to have a nice peaceful start to the week, think again. In a shocking development that is unfolding even as we write, someone has leaked information that SCOTUS may be preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade.
A leak like this is unprecedented, and some have surmised that it may well be a last-ditch effort for Democrats to motivate their base. Not such a crazy notion, as Monday night brought word that Democrats from across the country have already been calling for the elimination of the filibuster to help them protect the most sacred tenant of their faith – abortion.
