Elon Musk’s vision for the internet

The Russian people know little about Putin’s war on Ukraine because Putin has blocked their access to the truth, substituting propaganda and lies. Years ago, pundits assumed the internet would open a new era of democracy, giving everyone access to the truth. But dictators like Putin and demagogues like Trump have demonstrated how naive that assumption was. At least the US responded to Trump’s lies. Trump had 88 million Twitter followers before Twitter took him off its platform – just two days after the attack on the Capitol, which he provoked, in part, with his tweets. (Trump’s social media accounts were also suspended on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch and TikTok

Let's face it, Robert Reich had a very small brain to start with. But his Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) from letting President Trump live rent-free in his head 24/7/365 these last 6 years has pretty much destroyed the few working brain cells he still had left. All I feel for this loser is pity!!!

Commie Reich writing in the Communist paper Guardian. Yeah, now that's a really important thing to read......NOT. Reich is very much in favor of controlling what people get to read, and making sure that they don't get access to "misinformation" - like dangerous misinformation about the Constitution intending everyone to be able to "keep and bear arms", or the misinformation that "Congress shall make no law .....abridging the freedom of speech".

Musk's plan is pure business, neither politics nor censoring. Buy enough stock to prohibit such censoring and thereby increase the value of Twitter stock. Unlike Twitter's current management, he will not put censoring ahead of best business practices. He sees this as a golden business opportunity.

Let's see, he's essentially saying he supports censorship and restrictions on freedom of speech. And, in order to have misinformation, you're either saying there is only 1 set of information and it's what the government entities have stated is the official information to be issued. What he proposes is one set of thought, one acceptable conversation, and against any contrary information or thought. Group-think. So Twitter and the other authoritarian outlets ganged together to prevent Trump from telling us that the voting in the swing states was corrupt? And the internet works best when those who consider themselves our betters are allowed to control what we see and hear? Does this person realize how asinine he makes himself appear? Apparently not. And meanwhile, state level investigations are showing us that the voting process was corrupt. Governors and voting commissions altered the process without any constitutional authority whatsoever. States used voting machines known for allowing corrupt voting and tallying processes. Only a state legislature can change voting processes. Governors are excluded from doping so. A truck with over a hundred thousand fake ballots was investigated and then passed thru. Vote harvesting/ballot box stuffing was encouraged. Robert Reich, you are a disgrace.

White House restarting federal oil, gas

The Biden administration quietly announced Friday that it was restarting the sale of oil and gas leases on federal land next week — almost exactly 15 months after President Biden imposed a moratorium on such sales upon taking office. The announcement of the pending sales by the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) represents an about-face by the White House, which had resisted pressure from energy companies to open up more land for drilling, instead insisting that thousands of previously approved leases were going unused.

Ukraine said on Friday it was trying to break Russian forces’ siege of Mariupol, with fighting raging around the city’s Illich steel works and port, as the capital Kyiv was rocked by some of the most powerful explosions in two weeks. Russia said it had struck overnight what it said was a factory in Kyiv that made and repaired anti-ship missiles, in apparent retaliation for the sinking of the Moskva, the flagship of Moscow’s Black Sea fleet, on Thursday. Ukraine said one of its missiles had caused the Moskva to sink, in a powerful symbol of its resistance to a better-armed foe.

The Russian missile cruiser that was damaged in a fire on Thursday was hit and ultimately sunk by Ukrainian missile strikes, a senior U.S. defense official confirmed on Friday. Russia and Ukraine had offered differing accounts of what happened to the vessel. The defense source confirmed the ship was hit by two Neptune missiles, and told NPR there are likely casualties. Experts say the loss of the Moskva — the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet — is significant both symbolically and militarily, even if it doesn't deal a decisive blow to Russia's overall operations.

Russia has confirmed the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet has sunk after what Ukraine said was a missile attack by their forces. If the facts are as claimed, the sinking is the most significant warship loss in decades, and possibly since the Second World War. Russian state media has confirmed the guided-missile cruiser and erstwhile flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the Moskva (Moscow) sunk on Thursday. The total loss of the ship comes after what Ukrainian state media claimed was a strike on the ship by two of their domestically produced  “Neptune” (Нептун) missiles on Wednesday. The Ukrainians said they’d caused major damage to the warship.

Anzalone may be right. Thirty years ago, income inequality was drastically less, milk was about $1.13 per gallon, and the Soviet Union was dissolved and would soon retreat from Germany. Today, income inequality is skyrocketing, milk costs about $4.02 per gallon, and Russia has invaded Ukraine. Inflation has reached 40-year highs. The southern border remains unsecured.
