The Democrats’ war on the internal combustion engine isn’t just solely an obsession with the radical Left and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). It’s being exported to the state legislatures now. It’s also not shocking that most left-wing states are adopting such measures that are Green New Deal-influenced. In Washington, there could be a ban on new gas cars. Yes, they’re taking the Oregon Trail game to its most extreme limits. It's back to the methods of travel not seen since the Donner Party san cannibalism (via Daily Wire):
Washington state is preparing to ban most new gasoline-powered vehicles within the next eight years.

Did I sleep through them the passing of the Green deal or block that stupidity from my mind? This is what being ruled looks like.

Even the dumbest legislator knows that EVs aren't ready for prime time, nor is the electrical infrastructure.
This is all about limiting and controlling your travel to keep you in the fitly, dangerous Dem cities they created.
They need your taxes there.

Ignore all those starving people! We're saving the planet!
Look for an exodus of Washingtonians.
Elections matter. The people of Washington voted for the clowns pushing this law. The people being elected are ruling rather than governing.

Liberals truly believe that they can run the world's largest economy on wind turbines and solar panels. Whenever there is a showdown between politicians and market forces, the latter always wins.

That giant sucking sound is used cars being transported in from out of state owners/dealers. Liberalism is a disease & beautiful Wa state is suffering from it.

These imbeciles continue to vote for Communists, so I have little sympathy.

I am so glad my daughter no longer lives in that wretched state. I used to love going up to Seattle and being a tourist, but no longer. Unsafe on so many levels, and I don't want to deal with the idiots running things now.

Biden just reinstated Obama's 40 MPG rule for 2026. So what's the difference - EVs or roller skates? You won't be able to travel any farther than the marijuana dealer.

This is always the result in States where urban dwellers outnumber rural voters.

Washington tries to out-commie California with this one. We'll need to coin new profanities to talk about the Left's Bolshevik maneuver, because the existing ones are orders of magnitude too mild to articulate the FOOLISHNESS of this political stunt.

There has been a 60/40%SocioCommi split with Republicans in WA for too long.I am hopeful that the sheep are getting sufficiently upset with the Inslee ideology ruining their lives and their bank balancees, that we may see a desperately needed change reflected at mid terms. Everyone should know by now that EVs are s complte fiasco where saving the planet is concerned. The people do not ask where the electric power that fuels the batteries comes from, coal and gas, or where the components of rare earths come from that are needed to build these batteries. For now the gaslighting continues unabated.

It’s like they held a meeting and asked, “OK, what is the quickest way that we can kill our state?”

Way to go Brandon, even though this is a state issue I'm sure that Brandon and his gang of thieves are responsible for this titanic screw up.

Washington will continue to use their existing internal combustion engines indefinitely, just like Havana still uses its 1950's beaters

This going to get some serious pushback from a LOT of voters....if votes even matter any more in these extreme leftist states.

The Green New Deal is essentially a Soviet "Five Year Plan".
My thinking is this. If you live in a part of America where it routinely snows and the temperatures go to single digits, an electric car is the financial purchase decision of a moron.
And if you live in a portion of America where the power grid is strained in the summer because everyone is running air conditioning, what will it be like when hundreds of thousands of people will also need to charge their cars? How many new power stations are you currently building to handle that increased load?

Get ready to pay enormous costs for everything when this nonsense goes nationwide. Our electrical grid cannot handle our needs, charging is time consuming and vehicles cannot travel as far as gas powered without replenishment. Energy/food/clothing/medial supply shortages will rule the day. Americans being lead to slaughter and none of it is necessary.

I am 71 and my grandfather rode around ina horse and buggy, but his father, my great grandfather drove an EV or at least did until he turned it over in a ditch and went back to hitching old Maude up to the buggy. Electric vehicles aren't the future but the past. Before WWI EVs and steam powered vehicles both outsold gasoline powered cars. Henry Ford and his Model T and assembly line along with the electric starter and muffler and a few other choice improvements put the nail in the coffin of the alternative fuel cars. Electric cars are not green, not cheap, and not efficient anywhere except maybe on a golf course. I also doubt anyone out in western Washington State is going to do anything but continue to push to join Idaho. It is sad that Seattle can out vote the entire rest of the state.

Oh, the car dealerships are going to LOVE this legislated Restraint of Trade law, especially those on the border with WA but in other states!! Also, how will insurance claims be handled? Will someone who lost a car with an ICE be forced to be replaced with an EV, whether or not the owner wants or can afford one? This will definitely find itself in court being challenged.
