The SPAC planning to merge with former President Donald Trump’s new social media company revealed Monday that the Securities and Exchange Commission and another regulator asked it for information regarding stock trading and communications with Trump’s firm before the deal was announced.
The investigations by the SEC and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority were disclosed in an 8-K filing with the SEC by Digital World Acquisition Corp., the special purpose acquisition company on track to merge with Trump Media & Technology Group.

When Alec Baldwin gave his tearful “don’t look at me” interview on ABC this week, he made any number of comments that seemed odd for a person who is still part of an investigation into the death of Halyna Hutchins. Perhaps one of the strangest, however, came when he told George Stephanopoulos that he had heard from “people in the know” that he was “highly unlikely” to face criminal charges over the shooting. That interview clearly caught the attention of Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, who is in charge of investigating the shooting. She took the rather unusual step of giving a statement to the press on the subject,

Last week’s Supreme Court oral arguments sparked a glimmer of hope on left, with the hope being to use a possible overturning of Roe v. Wade as a wedge issue in 2022 to drive turnout. But while signs are certainly pointing toward the “right” to abortion being gutted, would such an event really represent a reset for the coming election?
Color me extremely skeptical that the electorate is that malleable at this point, and I’m apparently not the only one throwing cold water on the idea. Politico spoke to several Democrat strategists who not only think the abortion issue isn’t a winner for them, but that they should actually avoid

As I was waiting for my flight to be de-iced Saturday before takeoff, a few folks texted me that CNN had terminated Chris Cuomo’s employment, converting his suspension into a permanent arrangement.
This, of course, was no surprise, and probably the right decision. But unsurprisingly, CNN has handled the situation poorly throughout.
The suspension and termination followed news that Cuomo had participated in a fraternal love-fest with his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. To promote a concocted image of effectiveness during the COVID-19 pandemic — not to mention his sexual harassment scandal — throughout last year, the elder Cuomo frequently appeared

The Clinton presidential campaign’s fabrication of the Russia hoax is the dirtiest trick in American political history. Beginning with Glenn Simpson/Fusion GPS and the Perkins Coie law firm, it enlisted co-conspirators in the Obama Department of Justice, the FBI, and the mainstream media. The principals are not only still at large, they have achieved high office, wealth, riches, and Pulitzer Prizes. They will never be brought to justice. They won’t even break a sweat.
We were never meant to be clued in. As the veil of the fraud was pierced by Rep. Devin Nunes and others including, most recently, John Durham, we now have a good handle on the con.

Former Republican senator Bob Dole has died at the age of 98, his family said in a statement Sunday.
“Senator Robert Joseph Dole died early this morning in his sleep. At his death, at age 98, he had served the United States of America faithfully for 79 years,” said a statement from the Elizabet h Dole Foundation.Dole’s death comes after he announced in February that he had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
“While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own,” he said at the time.

There was a lot of news this week, but I didn’t want to miss talking about how one very important Biden hypocrisy caught up to him this week during a White House press briefing.
When President Donald Trump was in office, Joe Biden took every effort to blame all the COVID deaths on him.
But now that Biden is in office and there have been more deaths under Biden than there were under Trump, even with vaccines and treatments, Biden and the media are strangely silent about those numbers. Biden is, of course, not taking any responsibility for those numbers.
But White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked

New York City remains largely reopened after all of the COVID shutdowns and many people are returning to work in their offices rather than from home via Zoom calls and such. But that doesn’t mean that life has gone back to what it was in pre-pandemic days. While the threat from the virus may be decreasing, the threat of violent crime has been steadily climbing in the other direction and that has altered the way employers have been advising their workers about safely commuting and navigating the streets of the city. At some Wall Street financial institutions, managers are telling

Americans with a “great deal of confidence” in the U.S. military dropped a staggering 11 percent from February under Commander in Chief Joe Biden, according to a survey released Friday by the Ronald Reagan Institute.
The Reagan National Defense Survey showed that the percentage of Americans having a great deal of trust and confidence in the U.S. military was only 45 percent — the first time that number has dropped below 50 percent since the survey was first conducted in 2018. It is also a steep drop from 56 percent in February 2021.
The institute said in its summary, “Almost a year into the Biden Administration and

On Saturday, Chris Cuomo was fired from CNN “effective immediately.”
The decision was unexpected by the many people who figured that the network that kept Jeffrey Toobin despite his… umm… scandal… would ultimately refuse to part ways with its apparent top anchor.
But, apparently, there was more to this story.
Cuomo was suspended after text messages released by the New York attorney general’s office showed Cuomo was actively assisting with his brother’s response to the allegations of sexual misconduct against him and exploiting his media connections to dig up dirt on Andrew’s accusers.
But, according to the statement, during the review, “additional information

New York CNN said Saturday that anchor Chris Cuomo has been "terminated" by the network, "effective immediately."
The announcement came after an outside law firm was retained to review information about exactly how Cuomo aided his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, when the then-governor was accused of sexual harassment.
CNN said in a statement: "Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother's defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately."
"While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light,"

Or is it a cross between COVID and HIV?
I shouldn’t say “a cross,” as that’s overstating what happened here. Researchers in Massachusetts looked at the new variant’s genome and found a weird quirk. It contains a tiny bit of genetic code that hasn’t appeared in any previous variant of SARS-CoV-2 but does appear in other coronaviruses, including one associated with the common cold. How did that happen?
Their theory is that the coronavirus that causes COVID and some other virus were present and replicating in patient zero at the same time. Remember the (very) old Reese’s commercial, “you got your chocolate in my peanut butter”?
