Former Republican senator Bob Dole has died at the age of 98, his family said in a statement Sunday.
“Senator Robert Joseph Dole died early this morning in his sleep. At his death, at age 98, he had served the United States of America faithfully for 79 years,” said a statement from the Elizabet h Dole Foundation.Dole’s death comes after he announced in February that he had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
“While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own,” he said at the time.

He was a real gentleman, patriot, and warrior. He also had a real mean streak and I say that with utmost respect.

Sad that Bob Dole passed away, but the truth is that if you asked 100 people on the streets of America’s big cities who was Bob Dole? Chances are only a few, probably all veterans, would be able to tell you who Bob Dole was.
No doubt Dole’s passing will be used by Biden’s handlers as grist for Biden to show up claiming that Dole was one of his bipartisan best friends in the US Senate, and that if the Republicans there today were as bipartisan as Dole was in going along with past liberal Democrat legislation everything would be just peachy.

I always liked Bob Dole, and his wife Elizabeth too. I don't know if he'd have been a good president, but he would have been better than Bill Clinton. Rest in peace, sir, and prayers to your family.

Senator, having you as President instead of BJ would have been wonderful. But, the dims, msm, and the deep state in general wouldn't have any part of it.
I thank you for your service and, Rest in Peace, Senator Dole.

Bob Dole was a totally admirable human being - - who literally had his body blown to bits - - while protecting our freedoms. On top of that - - he was an honest and decent person.
Unfortunately - - for all his physical courage - - he was never a political fighter - - and his gentlemanliness allowed him to be walked over by the despicable, execrable Master B. Clinton.
Thank you and Good keep you, Bob Dole!

He was a backstabbing fake conservative. I will shed no tears, and he was my Senator here in Kansas.
When the antigun forces were trying to literally make handgun ownership illegal, they found that they could not get the votes to ban ownership. Their fall back was to require a full FBI background check, which had substantial cost and time delays associated which would be paid by the prospective handgun purchaser. The NRA was able to renegotiate this to a National Instant Check System (NICS) which would have a gun dealer make a phone call for an "instant check" in literally about a minute. If the NICS couldn't approve the sale instantly, a 72 hour clock started. If the NICS had not called the gun dealer to reject the purchaser in 72 hours, the sale automatically would go through. This was to be ONLY for handguns, and was to be at no cost to the purchaser, normally "instantly" at worst, 72 hrs, if not denied for legal reasons.
At the literal last minute, just before final voting, Majority Leader Dole inserted "all guns" in place of "handguns" and that requirement became law. So now, we have to undergo a background check for rifles and shotguns that was never intended by Congress.....just slipped in by Dole.
I never forgave that backstabber for adding in a stronger anti-gun bill than could have been gotten in an open, known negotiation. he always talked about being "pro gun" and he was a liar. Most Senators did not know that the bill had been changed when they voted on it.
Pardon me if I don't miss that sort of double dealing crook.

Sorry but wasn't this the same guy who walked (not ran) for president 3 times and gave away the title the last time by running such a weak campaign and looking like he didn't want it?
When they say he was a gentleman all that really means is he was another go along to get along swamp creature.
Someone please remind me of where along the way in his decades in office he pushed conservatism forward? Even with his wiki page in front of me I'm having a hard time finding it.
Condolences to his family but he did nothing for the rest of us. Warmed a seat while watching the Marxists take over right under his nose.

I have to go along with #11. He was yet another McCain style "good friend across the aisle" type who would trade our freedoms off without so much as a 2nd thought. I admired his scrappy personality when he was in the senate, but I was young and didnt immediately recognize theater.

I remember my excitement in 1994 watching TV in my Hotel room in France that Gingrich’s Contract with America had swept the elections and took control of Congress.
And then the joy died in In 1995 when the anemic, clueless GOP selected Bob Doyle as the Presidential candidate.
I liked Bob Dole and respected his duty and service to the USA. I also liked my Uncle Barney who had also served in combat, but he, like Bob Dole, wasn’t the man for the time.
Like him or not, Bib Dole was an early member in good standing of the Deep State.

My first political campaign volunteering effort was for him in his1996 presidential bid. A great man, a good servant of the US, and husband. What a life of service he gave to our country. Thank you, sir. Rest in the arms of your savior.

A good man. Not the right man for the times. Freedom needs gutter fighters, not Boy Scouts. GOPs need to learn that you cannot do business with Democrats.
