A 23-year-old woman recounted the terrifying subway attack she suffered at the hands of the same recidivist madman accused of fatally shoving a retired Big Apple teacher down a flight of stairs hours after being released from a psych ward. The horrified victim told The Post she and a friend were on a subway in Manhattan on April 2 when Rhamell Burke approached them and began a conversation they quickly shut down before frantically trying to switch cars to get away from him. She said the crazed suspect stalked them closely and allegedly yanked her by the back of her head in an attempt to slam her to the ground

While it is unhappily no surprise that the NYC legal system released a violent, racist, criminal maniac onto the street so he could murder a complete stranger, I was surprised and disgusted by the actions of the couple that is the subject of this article. After the woman was attacked on the subway by the maniac, her friend, a man, tried to run away. The woman did fight back and got away. After exiting the train the maniac followed the couple, continuing to threaten them. Fortunately for them the maniac was arrested by some cops. Unfortunately for the soon-to-be murdered man, the couple refused to cooperate with the prosecution since they didn’t want to help put another black man in jail.

She chose not to cooperate with prosecutors. "Maybe a part of me was just like, I don’t want to put another black man in jail..." How very noble and progressive. As Baretta used to say, 50 years ago: "Welcome to the real world."

Unconscionable behavior by this couple; first this woman's male friend runs away leaving her to fend for herself (!!?) and then she decides not to prosecute this maniac? She'll have to live with that decision for the rest of her life since her deluded thought process caused a man to be murdered. I hope the realization of her actions gives her no respite through every day she spends on earth.

Will the perp get the death penalty? Nope. Will the perp get life in prison? Probably not. When does he get released? The best outcome is the perp crosses paths with someone meaner than him who does everyone a public service.

Pretty soon they won't even bother to write a headline, just say "It happened again." New York City is dead but they refuse to announce the funeral date. The man who abandoned his lady friend should become Burke's cellmate.

A high school prom celebration turned deadly after gunfire erupted at a local park, killing a teenage girl and wounding four others, according to officials. Saturah Hayes, 17, was fatally shot Friday evening in Brownsville, Tenn. — about an hour northeast of Memphis — where Haywood High School students decked out in tuxedos and dresses gathered for photographs before the big dance, police and school officials said. Four others were shot and hospitalized, according to police. It’s not clear how many of those wounded were students. The prom was cut short and the school was closed Monday to give Hayes’ classmates time to grieve, Action News 5 reported.

The Greek government has warned that there are over half a million migrants waiting in Libya to cross the Mediterranean and land in Europe, sparking concerns of another migrant crisis. Greek Migration Minister Thanos Plevris said this week that Athens estimates there are approximately 550,000 migrants waiting in Libya, the African hub, for the opportunity to cross to Europe. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch — backed by the NYPD rank and file — deserves all the credit for New York City’s continued crime drop. Every law-abiding New Yorker should applaud her for achieving new lows in major crime — with murders hitting an all-time low in April. The city saw just 19 homicides last month, beating the record of 21 set in 2014 and 2017; year-to-date in 2026 it’s just 76 murders, besting the prior low for the first four months of 86, set in 2018. Shootings, robberies, grand larceny-auto, burglaries and felony assaults all dropped from April 2025, too, though much crime remains above the 2019 level,

The suspected hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which has killed three people and sickened at least seven others, has two likely causes — and both are bad news for the 150 passengers on board, experts said. The more likely scenario would be passengers contracting the virus from the feces, urine or saliva of infected rats or mice. That’s the usual transmission vector, according to physician Zaid Fadul, a former Air Force flight surgeon — although the World Health Organization insisted Tuesday that no rodents have been found on the stranded liner. But there’s one strain of the hantavirus that has an alarming exception —

The Democrat party is facing such a host of seemingly intractable problems -- structural, financial, legal, and ideological -- that it will be close to a miracle if it survives after this year’s midterms. Empty Pockets Jeff Childers has done a thorough job explaining the party’s terminal crisis. Being short of funds is a good start.
