In a Monday night letter, William J. Pulter, director of the U.S. Federal Housing Agency (FHFA), referred New York Attorney General Letitia James to the Department of Justice for prosecution of mortgage fraud. (snip) Pulter said the agency has "identified matters that are appropriate for referral to the U.S. Department of Justice for consideration of criminal prosecution."
He added that, based on media reports, "Ms. Letitia James has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms."
One of U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's leading advisers, Dan Caldwell, was escorted from the Pentagon on Tuesday after being identified during an investigation into leaks at the Department of Defense, a U.S. official told Reuters.
Caldwell was placed on administrative leave for "an unauthorized disclosure," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The decision has not been previously reported. "The investigation remains ongoing," the official said without providing details about the nature of the alleged disclosure, including whether it was made to a journalist or to someone else.

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Monday that it will save American taxpayers over $60 million by ending a grant to help fund a high-speed rail project in Texas.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made the announcement, saying an agreement between the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Amtrak to terminate the $63.9 million grant had been reached.
The grant was awarded to Amtrak under the Corridor Identification and Development Program for the Amtrak Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor, previously known as the Texas Central Railway project.

In effect, her ruling will prevent the Department of Homeland Security’s secretary, Kristi Noem, from revoking their parole status as part of an administration plan to end the humanitarian program on April 24.

The New York Times hates Donald Trump, in part because of his “nativism.” He doesn’t appreciate the wonderful things the Chinese have done for us. He even went so far as to suggest that covid might have originated in a Chinese laboratory! And he has imposed tariffs on Chinese goods, a retrograde, far-right policy–even if tariffs were formerly recommended by the Times’s own Democrats.
But a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, and, as we all know, the Timesmen have big brains. Thus today’s headline:
