Senators back bill limiting gas-operated

U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Arizona, has introduced legislation he says will save lives and protect communities from gun violence while protecting Americans’ constitutional right to own a firearm. Gun rights groups said the legislative proposal is clearly unconstitutional. The GOSAFE Act would regulate the sale, transfer and manufacture of gas-operated semi-automatic firearms by establishing a list of prohibited firearms and prevent the unlawful modification of permissible firearms. Moreover, Kelly wants to mandate that future gas-operated designs are approved before they are manufactured. Unlawful firearm self-assembly and manufacturing would be prevented under his bill. Machine gun conversion devices would be prohibited.

Following the bill that is currently being decided in Colorado State Legislature. All these legislators voting for these bills should be required to be the first one through the door on the S.W.A.T. team raids when time comes to start confiscating them.

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Monday that it will save American taxpayers over $60 million by ending a grant to help fund a high-speed rail project in Texas. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made the announcement, saying an agreement between the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Amtrak to terminate the $63.9 million grant had been reached. The grant was awarded to Amtrak under the Corridor Identification and Development Program for the Amtrak Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor, previously known as the Texas Central Railway project. "I am pleased to announce that FRA and Amtrak are in agreement that underwriting this project is a waste of taxpayer funds

This tax day, one group is pushing for better financial literacy for kids. The American Parents Coalition is advocating for financial literacy education for kids, arguing that studies show students who go through these classes are less likely to fall into financial trouble. In a message to parents called “The Lookout,” the group points to a survey showing the majority of teenagers feel unprepared and want more financial training. “In fact, three out of four teenagers admit they don’t understand basic financial concepts,” the group said in its message, first obtained by The Center Square, and sent to parents Tuesday. “Half can’t explain

Easter, the holiest day on the Christian calendar, should have its own federal holiday, according to a Republican senator. Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., wrote in an X thread Monday that he introduced legislation to create a federal holiday for Easter. It would fall on the Monday after Easter Sunday. Schmitt wrote that while “81%” of Americans celebrate Easter, “our current holiday schedule makes it way too difficult for families to celebrate together.” Easter falls on the longest unbroken schedule of workdays, Schmitt wrote, with March and April being the only back-to-back months without a holiday.

That Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will be the first European Union leader to meet with President Donald Trump since his day of tariffs is no surprise – she's backed him long before her ascension in 2022 to her country’s highest political office. Meloni, who will arrive in Washington on Thursday, was among the first global leaders to congratulate Trump on his 2024 reelection victory and was the first European leader to meet with him after Election Day – traveling to Mar-a-Lago in January. She was also the only European Union leader to attend Trump’s inauguration. But this week's scheduled visit is expected to be different.

Democrat Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett said Monday evening on a Zoom conference that Democrats don’t “have time” to convince voters of their “position” with upcoming elections but should focus on their friends and families. Democrats have been attempting to find a unifying message to resonate with their base ahead of the midterm elections, as some have criticized progressive policies. Others have blamed the party’s branding and messaging for their 2024 loss. While joining historian Heather Cox Richardson and Katie Paris, founder and CEO of Red Wine & Blue, a nonprofit organization, Crockett spoke about her experience in office and offered advice to women wanting to speak out against the Trump administration.

American taxpayers will no longer be forced to finance brutal animal experiments in Chinese labs if Sen. Joni Ernst (R., Iowa) gets her way. Ernst on Tuesday introduced the Accountability in Foreign Animal Research Act, which would bar the Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health from using taxpayer funds to finance animal research in labs controlled by the governments of China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The bill comes as a growing number of intelligence agencies and scientific experts say the department’s funding of risky gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology likely played

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has officially kicked off its search for two of the agency’s most critical leadership positions: the undersecretary for health and the undersecretary for benefits. Announced Monday, the move comes at a pivotal moment as the VA navigates through sweeping reforms aimed at reshaping the delivery of health care and benefits for millions of veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors. Unlike most senior federal positions that can be directly appointed by the president, these two roles require candidates to be vetted and recommended by specially appointed commissions. These panels are composed of community advocates, industry professionals, and former VA officials, ensuring a broad and

Gov. Polis signed the legislation on April 10, 2025, and the ban will take effect in August 2026. After that time, anyone who wants an AR-15 or similar rifle–or one of the banned
