Vance’s America First foreign policy viewpoints, coughing up a dying gasp of the war-obsessed GOP establishment. The neocon senators glommed onto Vance’s skepticism of immediately taking military action against the Houthis in Yemen disrupting trade in the Suez Canal, despite saying he was “willing” to support it and then ultimately did. Vance expressed concern that the action would be difficult to justify to the American public, which elected him and President Donald Trump in part to stop endless wars and at least justify military action in terms of American interests.
