Appeals court enables Musk to resume cuts
at USAID

A federal appeals court on Friday enabled Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to resume efforts to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). In a win for the Trump administration, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily lifted a lower ruling that found Musk was exercising enough independent authority to require Senate confirmation under the Constitution’s Appointments Clause.“While defendants’ role and actions related to USAID are not conventional, unconventional does not necessarily equal unconstitutional,” U.S. Circuit Judge Marvin Quattlebaum wrote.

Per one of the judges, ""We may never know how many lives will be lost or cut short by the Defendants’ decision to abruptly cancel billions of dollars in congressionally appropriated foreign aid,” Gregory wrote." And if you don't know, how can you infer ANY lives will be lost because we discontinued aid to broadcast Sesame Street to a foreign nation. This also implies that unless you can prove withholding funds will prove harmless, an impossibility, you could never make such cuts, which is insane. Unless the law SPECIFICALLY calls out each type of aid to be provided, the President has the power to determine if the aid meets the intent of the law and to withhold it if it doesn not. Most such laws designating aid do NOT specify recipients, leaving it to the administration to designate qualified recipients. Trump disagrees with many of the choices previously made and as a consequence of the election, he has the authority to make changes. Judges, Constitutionally, don't have the authority to overrule such Executive actions.

I hope DOGE goes after Congress and all their wasteful spending. It's not just the federal agencies that waste billions of dollars.

Musk has no power to act on anything. He and his team are just making recommendation's. The press needs to get that straight. What they have done is created vicious democrats to put Tesla dealers and drivers in peril.

State Department formally shutters USAID

WASHINGTON — The State Department formally announced Friday it is closing the US Agency for International Development (USAID) after the Trump administration prevailed in a federal court case challenging the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) cost-cutting actions. “Foreign assistance done right can advance our national interests, protect our borders, and strengthen our partnerships with key allies. Unfortunately, USAID strayed from its original mission long ago. As a result, the gains were too few and the costs were too high,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement. Ex-DOGE official Jeremy Lewin announced USAID’s shuttering in an internal memo earlier Friday — and said the State Department “intends to assume

Ukraine will not agree to any deal over its minerals with the U.S. if it endangers Kyiv's aspirations to join the European Union, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said. Newsweek has contacted the White House via email for comment. Why It Matters Zelensky would only agree to a minerals deal that could give his country security guarantees against Russian aggression, but these have not been forthcoming and an agreement that could compromise EU membership adds a further snag. What To Know The Ukrainian president told a press briefing on Friday that Kyiv had received a draft agreement on its valuable resources from the U.S. But a Ukrainian media outlet said the deal may go against

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday that Russia's response to US ceasefire efforts had been inadequate "for too long", and that Moscow needed to be pressured into a peace deal. Both Moscow and Kyiv agreed to the concept of a Black Sea truce following talks with US officials earlier this week, but Russia said it would not enter into force until the West lifted certain sanctions. "For too long now, America's proposal for an unconditional ceasefire has been on the table without an adequate response from Russia," Zelensky said in his evening address. "There could already be a ceasefire if there was real pressure on Russia,"

British police have been accused of acting in a “Kafkaesque” manner after they arrested the parents of a nine-year-old girl over complaints they made about her primary school on WhatsApp. Following a five week investigation, in January, Hertfordshire Police arrested Maxie Allen and Rosalind Levin in front of their daughter and placed in cell on suspicion of malicious communications, harassment, and causing a nuisance on school property over comments they made online about the Cowley Hill Primary School in Borehamwood, The Times of London reported on Saturday. The dispute between the couple and the school is said to have began in May of 2024 when Allen questioned the process

“This is NPR.” Unfortunately for National Public Radio, that proved all too true this week. In one of the most cringeworthy appearances in Congress, Katherine Maher imploded in a House hearing on the public funding of the liberal radio outlet. By the end of her series of contradictions and admissions, Maher had made the definitive case for ending public funding for NPR and state-subsidized media. Many of us have written for years about the biased reporting at NPR. Not all of this criticism was made out of hostility toward the outlet — many honestly wanted NPR to reverse course and adopt more balanced coverage. That is why,

Late last night, President Trump signed an executive order "to end collective bargaining with Federal unions" at more than two dozen government agencies. In theory this puts an end to collective bargaining for more than half of all federal workers. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday evening abolishing union rights at more than two dozen federal agencies and offices, in a major expansion of the administration’s efforts to shrink the federal government. The White House cited national security concerns for terminating workers’ ability to bargain collectively, but the order applies at agencies with both direct and indirect links to national security.

Every day, I read something new and even more ghastly about what's going on in German 'democracy' since the 'national election.' And every time, all I can think is thank GOD those men 250 years ago put the wheels in motion to set up our system the way they did, vice a standard European parliamentary government. We have had our share of sneks, crooks, authoritarians, and mushrooms aplenty, Lord knows. But watching the coalescing of forces in the newly seated German government move against their legally elected opposition and against the express will of voters is a sight to behold. Terrifying to think how close we came to it here -

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Friday to review a restraining order that temporarily blocks its use of an 18th century wartime immigration law to immediately deport Venezuelan nationals, including alleged members of the gang Tren de Aragua, from U.S. soil. In the filing, lawyers for the Trump administration said that the lower court's orders have "rebuffed" Trump's immigration agenda, including its ability "to protect the Nation against foreign terrorist organizations and risk debilitating effects for delicate foreign negotiations." The request for Supreme Court intervention comes shortly after the DC. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Wednesday to uphold a lower court's decision that temporarily blocked

New York City's waste reduction efforts will commence a new phase next week, as the city's sanitation agency will begin enforcing a law-mandated composting program with fines. Starting April 1, residents will have to separate food waste from trash or risk receiving a $25 fine from the Department of Sanitation. While mandatory composting became effecting in October 2024, the law passed by City Council established a warning period until April 2025. What are the food separation rules? Sanitation officials say they have deliberately kept the rules simple for residents. All food, yard and food-soiled paper waste must be set out in a bin on recycling day. What should be separated? Tesla has become a lightning rod for violent attacks and vandalism in the months since CEO Elon Musk joined the Trump administration. Now, people who disagree with Musk’s role in politics are hoping to channel their emotions into something peaceful: a day of mass nonviolent protests at Tesla locations nationwide. More than 200 protests are scheduled to take place Saturday during what organizers are calling a global day of action, part of a campaign called “Tesla Takedown.” The organizers are hoping to damage Musk’s political standing by hurting the sales and stock price of the electric-car maker, the foundation of
