Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo launched his bid for New York City mayor with a video posted on his X account. Virtually all political leaders — from both sides of the aisle and across the pond as well — have weighed in on the Oval Office dustup between President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday. Unsurprisingly, most of those in the Donald Trump Bad camp have attempted to lay things at the feet of Trump and Vance, conveniently overlooking the context of the discussions leading up to the meeting and the 30 minutes prior to the moment when things ratcheted up considerably.
As with most things these days, the incident provided a Rorschach test of one's views on the players involved.
The left once again showed its true colors after President Trump's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday. The pearl-clutching commentators, be they in Congress or the media, immediately ran with their favorite narrative: the explosive meeting was Trump’s fault, Trump embarrassed America, and he "ambushed" the poor Ukrainian leader in an orchestrated setup.
There's just one problem—it's complete nonsense.
