Hong Kong's CK Hutchison Holdings said on Tuesday a consortium including BlackRock Inc would buy an 80% stake in a unit that controls ports in Panama for an equity value of $14.21 billion.
The sale of 90% interest in Panama Ports Company, which owns and operates the ports of Balboa and Cristobal, comes as U.S. President Donald Trump piles on pressure to end what he sees as China's influence and control over the Panama Canal. CK Hutchison has been operating the ports of Balboa and Cristobal at the canal's Pacific and Atlantic entrances for more than two decades.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that EPA cannot enforce requirements in wastewater permits that “do not spell out what a permittee must do or refrain from doing,” in a major blow to the agency’s power under the Clean Water Act.
The 5-4 decision in San Francisco v. EPA resolves a long-running dispute between the progressive West Coast city and the nation’s environmental regulator. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majority opinion, and Justice Amy Coney Barrett led a partial dissent.
San Francisco had challenged EPA’s attempts to fine the city for allegedly violating its wastewater permit for a sewage treatment plant, which releases large quantities of stormwater and sewage during rain events.

In which Donald Trump channels Ronald Reagan, circa 1969. Remember this? (You might actually remember it if you're 75 or so ...) At the time, it proved Reagan's mettle as a leader and easily won him a second term from an electorate (in California!) that had grown fed up with on-campus chaos and riots. The moment was so significant in Reagan's political career that it became a featured moment in the recent biopic Reagan, starring Dennis Quaid. Reagan made clear to both protesters and the Academia progressives coddling them that he wouldn't put up with either group.

A Republican-led Senate bill to prevent boys from participating in girls' sports failed to overcome the legislative filibuster on Monday night after it did not reach the necessary 60-vote threshold to advance.
The bill failed to clear the key procedural hurdle by a vote of 51-45, along party lines. All Democratic senators voted against the motion to proceed, with the exception of absent Sens. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., and Peter Welch, D-Vt., who were absent.
The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act would require Title IX to treat gender as "recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth,"

The Trump administration has paused financing new arms sales to Ukraine and is now weighing a freeze on weapons shipments, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The freeze would affect weapons shipments from US stockpiles, the report added.
According to WSJ, the financing was paused in recent weeks, as part of the Trump administration's general freeze on foreign aid. The general pause included military aid, and exceptions for Israel and Egypt, but not for Ukraine.
On Friday, the Trump administration announced that it would send Israel nearly $3 billion in weapons, including over 35,000 bombs weighing around 2,000 lbs each.
WSJ quoted current officials as clarifying that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

While I don't expect many people reading this article to be purveyors of the legacy media, most are probably on social media. That means they see the clips of Democrats appearing on the broadcast networks, MSNBC, and the like, and if they are perceptive, they've probably noticed something. Namely, that certain former "fresh faces" of the Democratic Party aren't so fresh anymore.
For context, it's been weeks since there's been an article on RedState covering something Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said. That would have been unheard of a few years ago, but guess who has had five articles written about her since then? That would be Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).

One hundred years ago, President Calvin Coolidge gave a speech to the American Society of Newspaper Editors. It included the line, “After all, the chief business of the American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with producing, buying, selling, investing, and prospering in the world.”
Colloquially, we’ve abbreviated Cal’s quote to: “The business of America is business.” (Shorter, pithier, and more efficient: The DOGE version of the quote.)
Same is true of politics: It’s a business, too. So, if you wanna know what’s gonna happen next, you’ve gotta follow the money.
For all the griping about the “Military-Industrial Complex,” it pales in comparison to the Political-Industrial Complex

President Donald Trump said that the U.S. will impose 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Tuesday, scrapping hopes of a last-minute deal that would avoid stoking a trade war with America’s top trading partners.
Trump, speaking at the White House on Monday afternoon, said there was “no room left for Mexico or for Canada” to negotiate on the new import duties.
“They’re all set. They go into effect tomorrow,” he said.
Stocks, already trading in the red, sank further following Trump’s comments.
Trump on Feb. 1 signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, with oil from Canada subject to a 10% duty. But

The Democratic Party may be imploding before our eyes, folks. What we're seeing isn't just your typical post-election finger-pointing—it's a potential full-blown civil war brewing between moderates and the radical left wing that has hijacked the party and alienated mainstream Americans.
If recent developments are any indication, the moderates are finally growing a spine.
According to a report from Politico, several dozen Democratic operatives and elected officials gathered at a Potomac River resort in Loudoun County, Va., last month for what amounted to an intervention. The day-and-a-half retreat wasn't just about licking wounds—it was about calling out the cancer destroying their electoral chances.

A man is under arrest and several people are seriously injured, including at least one possibly killed, after a ‘black SUV’ was driven into a crowd of people in a German city on Monday morning.
Several people are injured, some seriously, and at least one person was laid under a bloodied sheet — presumed deceased — in the city of Mannheim on the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg on Monday morning. Police have ordered the public to keep away from the area, a large deployment of emergency services is underway and a helicopter was landed in a square near the incident in the city centre.

Mexican drug cartels are reportedly in fear and going into hiding, and Mexican law enforcement officials have ramped up arrests and drug busts in response to the Trump administration threatening to hit the country with tariffs.
Several cartel members told the New York Times they had either “gone into hiding” or were in the process of “trying to figure out how to protect” their families “in case the American military” launches strikes in Mexico as a result of the Trump administration designating the crime syndicates as terrorist organizations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will step down as leader of the war-ravaged country in exchange for one thing, as he confirms his officials are talking to Donald Trump's administration again after an explosive White House meeting.
Speaking at London Stansted Airport after a day meeting with European and world leaders and King Charles, Zelensky said his country's freedom is "not for sale". Despite vowing not to quit despite pressure from the Trump administration after a White House talks descended into a chaotic shouting match, the leader did say he would step down as President if it meant Ukraine could join NATO.
"I am exchangable for NATO,"
