Memo To Trump: FAA’s Failings Are Much

After the mid-air collision at Reagan National Airport, President Donald Trump cast blame on “diversity, equity, and inclusion” hiring practices at the Federal Aviation Administration. But the problem goes much, much deeper than that. Decades of gross mismanagement and chronic waste have left the FAA’s air traffic control (ATC) system dangerously ill-prepared to safely do its job. And the only fix is a complete overhaul – something Canada and most other industrial nations did years ago. “I put safety first. Unless something has changed over the last twenty plus years, the air traffic control system from what I've read is using equipment designed and made back in the 80's and perhaps earlier. Congress has either repeatedly failed to spend the money to upgrade, or money allocated for an upgrade in equipment hasn't been spent to do so.

This is what happens when there is absolutely NO accountability for the confiscated taxpayers money. Billions and billions just disappear into the gigantic maw of government. Ever wonder why so many politicians walk away as multi-millionaires?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason for no update of technology is because of fear they wouldn’t need as many employees. I remember railroad unions demanding no release of employees after better tech was used. They introduced “feather bedding” and all sorts of shenanigans to keep the same amount of employees.

How many are aware that over decades of time, the FAA has TWICE paid huge amounts, hundreds of millions of dollars, IIRC, for a "Next generation, advanced air traffic control system software"? TWICE PAID, only unusable garbage delivered. TWO attempts. And yet, we still use the same ancient system. The headline understates how badly the FAA is screwed up and has been for decades.

No, the FAA simply practiced DEI before DEI was a thing, as did most government agencies. It worked so well for the government that they decided to saddle the private sector and academia with it.

Americans have been largely pleased with President Donald Trump’s deluge of executive orders. But not all of them. Public support is weak for his order to withdraw the U.S. from the World Health Organization and the Paris climate treaty. This is curious. One is clearly a political organization, the other a useless and wasteful effort. The failure by a significant swath of our countrymen to recognize this is worrisome. This is actually the second time Trump pulled the U.S. from the WHO. The first departure was in 2020. It pleased us then that no longer would this country “take part

Another year, another disastrous National School Report card, the annual checkup on American students’ test scores. Yes, it’s bad. After predictably plunging during the COVID school-shutdown years, scores show no signs of snapping back. This is child abuse on a national level. Our good friends at the Committee to Unleash Prosperity succinctly summed up the past five years: “The massive, unprecedented infusion of federal funds into schools under the guise of COVID recovery has abjectly failed to improve outcomes – but it has enriched the teacher unions.” Yep. And the test scores remain abysmal, with no improvement.

It was like yesterday. Nearly 50 years to the day, on Dec. 31, 1977, the Shah held a state dinner for U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Watching on television from my family’s middle-class home in western Tehran, I was eager to hear Carter’s speech. Having visited the U.S. as a curious tourist the previous summer, I had learned a few things about the American political system. In the middle of the speech, Carter toasted the Shah, saying Iran was “under your majesty, an island of stability in one of the more troubled areas of the world.” At that, I turned to

The new president threw official Washington into a spinning tizzy when on Tuesday his Office of Management and Budget announced that he was temporarily freezing $3 trillion in “all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all federal financial assistance.” The executive order was blocked by a federal judge and the administration rescinded the memo. But the message was sent. This president is serious about removing the dead wood from the federal machine. An interesting secondary effect of the order was to show just how dependent politicians, party and government functionaries, institutions, and far too many private individuals

It’s a cardinal rule for many, if not most, economists that tariffs are at best a misguided strategy for reviving a nation’s economy, at worst a strategy that will backfire by hiking inflation and killing jobs. But don’t tell Americans that. Half of those in the most recent I&I/TIPP Poll support imposing new tariffs on other nations’ goods. President Trump came into office promising to impose a hefty 25% tariff on goods from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% tariff on China, citing those countries allowing “mass numbers of people and fentanyl” to cross their borders into the U.S. Initially, Trump said those tariffs would go into effect immediately, but

After four years spent denying that inflation was a problem, Democrats are suddenly screaming at President Donald Trump for not having lowered the price of eggs already. “Democratic lawmakers slam Trump for not making good on promise to ‘immediately’ lower food prices amid egg shortage,” shouts NBC News, pointing to a letter signed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren and other leftist lawmakers who accuse Trump of backtracking on his promise to deal with Bidenflation. This is all part of a coordinated – and rather pathetic – campaign by the left, which is saying things such as “Under Donald Trump’s leadership, egg prices

OK, we admit, we haven’t actually counted the number of reporters’ questions President Donald Trump has answered since being sworn in. And four years is certainly an exaggeration. In any case, someone covering the White House should keep track, because it won’t take long for Trump to beat Biden on this score. Biden held the fewest number of press conferences of any modern president. He would answer questions only from pre-selected reporters. He had to have a cheat sheet with him at all times to give his answers, and even then the White House would often have to rush out to correct

Meta, parent of social media giants Facebook, Instagram and Threads, has decided to make substantive changes to its fact-checking policies — changes that will mean less-onerous scrutiny of users’ posts by paid “fact-checkers,” and more by fellow readers. Is it a victory for free speech? A solid plurality of Americans say “yes,” according to the latest I&I/TIPP Poll. Users have long complained about “woke” rules that lead to even innocuous posts being, in effect, censored by Facebook’s and Instagram’s legions of “fact-checkers.” A common complaint of users described a system that resulted in progressive politics being used

Until Joe Biden, pardons were almost entirely reserved for people who had actually been convicted of crimes, but even without those pre-crime pardons, Biden leads the pack by an eye-popping margin, with 8,064 in his four years. As a staffer for Ronald Reagan’s second inaugural committee, it was to be his honor to escort the Supreme Court of the United States onto the platform. AOC's comments were part of a 90-minute-long conversation with fans on Instagram. WASHINGTON — President Trump proposed a US takeover of the Gaza Strip Tuesday night — shortly after suggesting removing “all” Palestinians living there. “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings — level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.” (Photo)

Efforts to divide the force — to put one group ahead of another — erode camaraderie and threaten mission execution,” Hegseth said in the directive, formally known as a "guidance." “Going forward, DoD Components and Military Departments will not use official resources, to include man-hours, to host celebrations or events

Second, the Democratic Party has no idea how to win elections. The reports of a rudderless, leaderless, and divided organization were confirmed last night. As we reported earlier, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) made it clear the left was going to be ramping up their protests in the streets against President Donald Trump. Yet Democrats have been leveling all kinds of crazy accusations against Trump and Musk, especially since Musk has been looking into the hornet's nest that is USAID. Rep. Costs might go well beyond the nationwide average of $4.15 a dozen that commercial eggs sold for in December. “Anyone who’s done an ounce of research will very quickly understand that there are no free eggs, there are no inexpensive eggs in keeping chickens,” said Kathy Shea Mormino, a home chicken blogger and author who
