OP miss: Author is Alexandra Koch. And there were two pilots on board. Listening to TV report as I type. Relatively small plane; lots of fire...

Learjet. No one seems to know vintage. I regularly flew on a corporate one in the early 80s.

Are we certain that our enemies aren't able to interfere with air safety?

Another airplane crash. This is getting to be a trend. I have a trip coming up.
Should I be worried?

Learjet 55. Has range of 2500 or so miles so plane would have had a full . substantial fuel load. One report said it was headed for someplace in Missouri, but this is a developing story and I a listening to Fox TV.
50 soje feet long. Not a small plane.

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence...three times...waiting for the other shoe to fall. No pun intended.

I see no connection whatsoever between this and the entirely different crash in the Potomac. Those who know abiout such things are saying it had to have been a "catastrophic" mechanical failure.

Per ADBExchange the aircraft came to Philly out of Miami. Departing Philly it made it to 1650 feet and dove into the ground (a negative 11008 ft/minute per the given data). Mexican registration. A ring camera directly across the street from the crash site is making the rounds on X. Caught the engine whine and crash.

This was the equivalent of a medical ambulance. They can even perform surgery on these aur ambulances. One note: They carry oxyben tanks. An oxygen tank was found a quarter of a mile from the crash site. Whether it is connected to this is to be deterined.

A plane crashed into the Florida Everglades about 25 years ago. I believe an oxygen tank was the cause. Was one of those bare-bones discount airlines.

Leaning toward #13,14. The first thing I thought of on a Medivac flight was an oxygen tank leak but an awful tragedy, but I guess we will find out after the investigation.

Latest from FOX News is that is that the patient was a girl under 18 who had just had life saving surgery today in Philadelphia. She was Mexican and her mother was on board as well. All on board are reportedly Mexican nationals. Air ambulance, Jet Rescue, flight and medical expenses were paid for by funds raised for the child. They were on their way back to Tijuana.
Just awful. Too many tragedies this week.

This is a genuine tragedy, especially when the child patient and mother were killed.
All aboard were Mexican nationals, in a Learjet.
About 10 or 15 years ago a Mexican government Learjet crashed in Mexico City. Investigation revealed that both pilots had fake pilot credentials, were not even remotely qualified for the job.

Re #19, here is the Air Disasters episode. The proximate cause was wake turbulence, but the pilots should have been able to recover if properly trained and qualified.
No evidence that these pilots weren't fully qualified, but pilot credentials in Mexico are sometimes a bit more flexible than in the USA.

The aircraft that crashed in Philadelphia was a Mexican registered aircraft. The aircraft at the time of the crash was being flown by a Mexican crew carrying Mexican passengers to Mexico via an apparent refueling stop at Springfield, MO. The company that owns the aircraft also had another such aircraft crash in Mexico apparently while taking off a couple of years ago that killed everyone on board. Last night it was apparent that the aircraft within a minute after taking off from an airport suffered a large onboard explosion that blew much of the aircraft apart and sprayed jet fuel down to the ground causing a lot of separate fires. The aircraft then crashed to the ground and was completely destroyed. All that leads to suspicion as to the competence and level of maintenance that has been conducted on that aircraft in Mexico?
