The inspector general’s office claims hundreds of valuable gifts, dating from Feb. 1, 2022 through March 31, 2024, were accepted by Lori Lightfoot and Brandon Johnson without properly reporting them.

Phyllis Fong, who served as Inspector General of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) since 2002, told colleagues last week she planned to resist President Trump's order firing multiple IGs across different federal agencies.
The act of defiance did not end well. Security greeted her when she showed up to work on Monday and promptly removed her from her office.
On Wednesday, Reuters reported exclusively on the situation.
"Security agents escorted the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture out of her office on Monday after she refused to comply with her firing by the Trump administration," they relayed, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter.

President Donald Trump cut off taxpayer-funded security detail for Dr. Anthony Fauci, he confirmed this week.
According to The New York Times, Fauci did not have Secret Service protection. He was protected by federal marshals, and later by a private contractor whose fees were paid by the government.
Trump confirmed the news to a journalist in North Carolina.
“I think when you work for government, at some point your security detail comes off, and you know, you can’t have them forever,” Trump told a reporter at a hurricane response briefing in Asheville, NC.

On Saturday the US Army released the name of the pilot of the US Army Blackhawk helicopter that flew into a passenger jet landing at Reagan National Airport.
The crash was on Wednesday. The third pilot’s name, Rebecca Lobach, was finally released on Saturday, three days later.
All 64 passengers in the jet were killed.
The three pilots in the Blackhawk helicopter also died in the explosive crash.

The administration of now-former President Joe Biden tried to bankroll the use of electric school buses at government schools across the country.
But as the electric buses continue to have massive reliability issues, some schools regret taking the federal handouts and now want help from the Environmental Protection Agency to get themselves out of the program.

The Black Hawk helicopter that crashed into an American Airlines plane was alerted to the plane’s presence by air control twice, the first time at least two minutes before the deadly crash, according to a Washington Post report.
Aviation experts reviewed Wednesday night’s radio transmissions, obtained by The Washington Post, and said that a soldier on the Black Hawk requested “visual separation” so that the helicopter crew could maintain a safe distance from the plane, which it could see. Both times, the request was approved by air traffic control.
