To me it was obvious from the start that claims about Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, although pushed intensely and for a very long time by the leftist media, were nothing but a gigantic hoax. Joe Biden was the head of a lucrative crime family – even if the Democratic Party, the legacy media, the CIA, FBI, IRS, Department of Justice and even if 51 high-ranking veterans of intelligence organizations asserted that Hunter Biden’s laptop bore all the marks of Russian disinformation. Seeing through these bald-faced lies wasn’t brain surgery.

Cardinal Gerhard Müller has said that many bishops and cardinals favor President Donald Trump but are afraid to say it publicly. In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, the former head of the Congregation (now Dicastery) for the Doctrine of the Faith said that he “personally prefer[s] Donald Trump to Joe Biden.” [Snip] He added that “many cardinals and bishops think like me, even if they are afraid to say so. And in the United States, the percentage is even higher.” [Snip] “And Trump will help the Church because he represents natural law values: the inviolability of life, the importance of marriage, religious freedom.”

Embattled Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass made her big play this week to rebuild Pacific Palisades in her own image. Needless to say, it won't be pretty. During what the Los Angeles Times called "a freewheeling half-hour walking tour in Pacific Palisades," with reporters and "chief recovery officer" and former LAPD commissioner Steve Soboroff, Bass announced that the city plans to hire "an outside consultant to handle a significant rebuilding contract for areas devastated by this month’s Palisades fire," as the Times put it. “They’re going to represent you and make sure that everybody does exactly what they say they’re going to do,” Soboroff told reporters. A California bill that would allow higher education institutions to prioritize slave descendants in college admissions is drawing harsh critique from some civil rights experts. Introduced in December, the bill, AB 7, is a project of Democrat Assemblymember Isaac Bryan who represents part of Los Angeles. If passed, it would allow the state’s two public higher education systems, the California State University and the University of California, as well as private colleges and universities to “consider providing a preference in admissions to an applicant who is a descendant of slavery, as defined, to the extent it does not conflict with federal law.”

On January 29th, 2025, the United States suffered its first hull loss of a passenger airliner since the Colgan crash of 2009. Tragically, 67 people appear to have perished after a mid-air collision between a CRJ-700 regional jet operated by PSA (contracted by American Airlines) and a military UH-60 Blackhawk. The CRJ was flying a circling approach to runway 33 at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), which sits directly across the river from the nation's Capitol. In layman's terms, they were flying down the Potomac with the end of the approach being a low-altitude left turn onto short final to land

It was like yesterday. Nearly 50 years to the day, on Dec. 31, 1977, the Shah held a state dinner for U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Watching on television from my family’s middle-class home in western Tehran, I was eager to hear Carter’s speech. Having visited the U.S. as a curious tourist the previous summer, I had learned a few things about the American political system. In the middle of the speech, Carter toasted the Shah, saying Iran was “under your majesty, an island of stability in one of the more troubled areas of the world.” At that, I turned to

Can he really be an advocate for repealing the polio vaccine, a disease that has killed and crippled tens of millions of kids? “Kennedy’s Lawyer Has Asked the F.D.A. to Revoke Approval of the Polio Vaccine” To the ordinary reader, the headline says pretty clearly that Kennedy asked his lawyer to revoke the polio vaccine. The headline makes the shocking accusation that Kennedy is in favor of banning the polio vaccine. There is no other way of interpreting it. But it is flagrantly false and a gross distortion of the truth.

Should they make some significant changes, or stay the course and hope that Donald Trump will make them look better in comparison? Well, Quinnipiac just dropped a big data point on that question: Just 31 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party, while 57 percent have an unfavorable opinion, the lowest mark since Quinnipiac started asking that question. In the opposite direction, Republicans have a new high in Quinnipiac
