President Joe Biden declared during his farewell address that an “oligarchy” of the “ultra-wealthy” and powerful is forming that “threatens our entire democracy.”
Joe Biden issued his warning while speaking to the American public from the Oval Office for the final time. (X Video) “…I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern … and that’s a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people,” Biden said.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,”

On December 18, the Environmental Protection Agency greenlit a major piece of California Governor Gavin Newsom's progressive fever dream.
The Biden administration today approved California’s groundbreaking mandate phasing out new gas-powered cars just weeks before the incoming Trump administration poses a threat of overturning electric vehicle and climate rules.
The granting of the waiver by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency allows California to move forward in requiring 35% of new 2026 model cars sold in the state to be zero-emissions, 68% in 2030 and 100% in 2035. Nearly all zero-emission cars are powered by electricity.
The EPA also today gave the go-ahead to a 2020 California regulation

Yesterday I wrote about the Democrats in Minnesota (their party is officially called the Democrat-Farmer-Labour Party, but that is just the name; they are Democrats) pulling some very insurrection-y shenanigans in an attempt to avoid having to deal with being in the minority due to one of their members having been ruled ineligible to serve because he broke election law.
If the Democrats followed election law, there would be a tie between Republicans and Democrats, but until there is a special election to fill the seat, the Republicans have a one-vote majority, and they are using it to good effect,

Speaker Mike Johnson is replacing Rep. Mike Turner as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee after a debacle that started with a warning about Russian space nuclear technology last year, a source familiar with the decision confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Johnson, R-La., was unhappy with Turner, R-Ohio, after a seemingly unexpected warning he issued about the need to declassify information about Russian anti-satellite technology.
A hawk by nature, Turner sometimes went up against the Trumpist wing of his Republican Party on matters like support for Ukraine aid and Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
The decision to replace Turner took many by surprise.

President Joe Biden bade 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue adieu in a roughly 18-minute long Oval Office address Wednesday evening, five days before his predecessor and 2020 general election opponent, President-elect Donald Trump, is set to take office.
In his final address to the American people, Biden thanked the public for the honor of serving as president and wished Trump “success,” before pivoting to an ominous message about the alleged threat posed by a newly ascendant American oligarchy.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights, the freedoms and the fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden said.

A controversial Canadian Islamic group called Hizb ut Tahrir Canada has resumed its annual Khilafah Conference, an event that calls for rule by a global “caliphate” under sharia law.
Hizb ut-Tahrir (“Party of Liberation”) is a worldwide Islamist militant organization whose British branch was banned as a terrorist entity in January 2024. The group has urged violence to annihilate Israel and “liberate” the Palestinians and openly supports the October 7 atrocities perpetrated by Hamas. Its manifesto calls for Islam to “encapsulate” the world, imposing strict Muslim law in every nation.

President Joe Biden claimed credit for the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, but President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, reportedly headed up key negotiations last week.
After a press conference Wednesday, in which Biden praised his national security officials who failed for months to reach a deal, a reporter asked whether he or Trump deserved credit for reaching an agreement.“Is that a joke?” Biden responded, walking away from reporters.
During the press conference, Biden credited “many peacemakers” with bringing about the deal, including outgoing Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and Vice President Kamala Harris for reaching the agreement.

President Joe Biden’s State Department is admitting that President-elect Donald Trump’s team was critical in securing a peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller praised Trump and his team during Wednesday’s State Department press briefing.“When it comes to the involvement of President-elect Trump’s team, it has been absolutely critical in getting this deal over the line,” Miller said.
Miller added the involvement is critical because of the multiple phases in the agreement, which the Trump administration will essentially have to carry out considering Biden leaves office on Monday.

Tucker Carlson has made a shocking claim about the mysterious drones that plagued New Jersey for over a month, saying they were controlled by Chinese mothership satellite.
The first sightings appeared over the Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway and President-elect Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster in November, followed by thousands more in the skies.
While the US government was quick to dismiss claims they were foreign adversaries, Carlson claimed he was told otherwise.
He said 'an intel person' told him that the drones 'were in fact Chinese,' explaining the US government took down a Chinese satellite 'that was a command and control satellite for these drones.'

On January 20, 2025, America will enter a new era—a Golden Era—of strength and prosperity with the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States. However, President Trump’s triumphant return to the Oval Office is just the first step in our fight to restore America’s greatness. The Biden-Harris administration has left nothing but turmoil in its wake. Our economy has stalled, Americans across the country are reeling from natural disasters, our enemies are emboldened and the southern border is wide open, our college campuses and Ivy League universities have become safe havens for antisemitism and terrorist sympathizers, and our reputation on the world stage has been tarnished.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Wednesday seemed open to a Texas law aimed at blocking kids from seeing online pornography, though the justices could still send it back to a lower court for more consideration of how the age verification measure affects adults’ free-speech rights.
Texas is among more than a dozen states with such laws aimed at blocking young children and teenagers from viewing pornography. The states argue the laws are necessary as online porn, including hardcore obscene material, has become almost instantaneous to access on smartphones online.

Kaine fired off some fairly astonishing vitriol. I’m not a student of confirmation hearings — I’ve never watched a single one until now — but Kaine spewed a series of questions I would characterize as evil and manipulative, lacking any trace of generosity or gracefulness.

That the attacks are jihadist is rarely mentioned, or only briefly. Then everything gets forgotten until the next jihadist attack.
In many American universities, tenured professors have openly supported radical Islam for years, described Hamas as a liberation movement, supported terrorism, shown their hatred of the United States and brainwashed students. Radical imams in many US mosques have incited their followers to hate and even murder Jews, and appear to be trying to legitimize jihad.
Political Islam, support for Islamic terrorism and incitement to jihad -- Islamic holy war -- need to be squarely faced and defeated.

Beneath the rhetoric lies the harsh truth: This administration and the far-left legislature majorities continue to fail New Yorkers.
Instead of bold solutions, Hochul doubled down on the same disastrous policies that have made our state unaffordable, unsafe and unlivable.
Though the governor frequently talks about affordability, New York remains the highest-taxed state in the nation.
Skyrocketing property taxes are squeezing family budgets, small businesses are strangled by red tape, and residents are fleeing at a record pace.

For awhile there, we thought something had changed in her when she graciously certified the 2024 election in the Senate and put on a decent appearance at Jimmy Carter's funeral. “I hear screaming, ‘Put it down, put it down,’” White told Deadline of one of his neighbors confronting 33-year-old Juan Manuel Sierra-Leyva.

Independence Day, observed annually on July 4, is a national holiday that honors the ratification of the Declaration of Independence. This pivotal document marked the founding of the United States of America and its liberation from British tyranny and oppression.
In the mid-1990s, a song with the same title was awarded Country Music Song of the Year. Performed by Martina McBride, it celebrates a woman’s liberation from her abusive husband.
What are the commonalities? Oppression and abuse. Is anyone else sensing a strong stench of these in America, what used to be a shining city on a hill?

Puerto Rico’s governor has called on President-elect Donald Trump to respond after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro threatened to invade the U.S. territory.
Governor Jenniffer González-Colón called on Trump’s administration to “swiftly respond and make clear to the Maduro narco-regime that the U.S. will protect American lives and sovereignty and won’t bow down to petty, murderous thugs” in a letter addressed to the president-elect Monday.
González-Colón called Maduro’s threat “an open threat to the United States, our national security and stability in the region.”

Elon Musk will have office space in the White House complex as he begins work on the Department of Government Efficiency, which is hoping to cut government spending, according to The New York Times.
The office space set aside for Musk is in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is located right next to the White House. This would mean that Musk is likely to continue to have prominent access to President-elect Donald Trump after he takes office once again.
The billionaire has reportedly had discussions with the transition team about what level of access he will have to the West Wing in the new administration,

n January 20 the three richest people on Earth will all squeeze into an area together smaller than a Mini Cooper.
That is according to NBC News, which reported on Tuesday that "first buddy" Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Facebook and Instagram boss Mark Zuckerberg will be seated together on the platform at Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington D.C.
These three men, who enjoy a combined estimated net worth of $860 billion, are far from best friends. Often they’ve openly feuded, on both a business and personal level.

There was a time when the mere mention of Edward Snowden’s name stirred a visceral reaction in me. I thought he was a traitor who had betrayed his country by leaking classified information from the National Security Agency.
Like many Americans, I was swept up in the tide of post-9/11 patriotism, a sentiment that, in hindsight, was both genuine and grossly manipulated. It wasn’t until I heard Snowden speak a year or two after he defected to Russia that I realized how I had been bamboozled by my government. Edward Snowden wasn’t a turncoat;

It’s not the White House. But… it’s a short walk to the Park?
Kamala Harris is eyeing post-loss life in New York, we hear.
Page Six spies say that Doug Emhoff toured a $20,000-a-month three-bedroom at the Park Loggia luxury condo building on the Upper West Side last week. (“The missus was missing,” said the source.) No word yet if the power pair plan to take the apartment.
Meanwhile, a source said, “Not from me, but I heard they were looking to be bicoastal.”
A third said that the soon-to-be-former VEEP and Second Gentleman intend for Los Angeles to continue to be their base when they leave Number One Observatory Circle this week,

Gov. Kathy Hochul ducked any mention of a clamored-for ban on wearing masks in public during her State of the State Tuesday — a notable omission that drew condemnation from a potential election rival.
Bronx Rep. Ritchie Torres, who’s eyeing a Democratic primary run against Hochul next year, noted Hochul didn’t mention “antisemitism” either during her speech or in a 140-page policy booklet for 2025.
“Not one mention of ‘antisemitism’ in a 140-page document,” Torres said. “Not one mention of ‘antisemitism’ in an hour long speech.”

During the California leg of a year-long journey across America, I devoted a day to visiting two presidential libraries within a short distance of each other. I started that morning at the Richard Nixon Presidential Museum and Library and a few hours later proceeded to that of Ronald Reagan. Some months earlier I had also stopped at the Harry Truman Library and Museum in Missouri.
Every president is actively encouraged to plan and construct an official repository of his documents from his time in office. The resulting library is more than the collection of the paperwork generated during his tenure, however.

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Trump’s choice for Defense secretary, on Tuesday emerged largely unscathed from an at times blistering confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Democratic lawmakers on the panel took aim at Hegseth’s lack of experience leading an agency as large and complex as the Pentagon, claims related to his treatment of women and excessive drinking, and his past comments on the role of women in the military. Multiple Democrats also expressed concerns that an FBI background check on Hegseth, an Army veteran, left out crucial details about major allegations levied against him. The report was viewed by the panel’s top two members on Friday.

Envy is an ugly thing -- one of the seven deadly sins. One reason for this success: The United States innovates while Europe regulates. Instead of fixing their economies, the European Union bureaucrats want to kneecap America's tech success stories with lawsuits and regulatory barbed wire fences to keep American firms from competing on a level playing field.
Europeans have long been dripping with jealousy that American firms dominate the tech sector -- cellphones, search engines, social media platforms, artificial intelligence and robotics. Our "magnificent seven" tech companies -- including Google, Nvidia, Apple and Amazon -- saw massive stocks market gains in 2024. Meanwhile, Europe has flatlined.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to serve as the next Secretary of State, will take the globalist foreign policy establishment to task in his opening statement at his confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
Rubio’s remarks, provided exclusively to Breitbart News ahead of their public release, show him viciously criticizing the globalist elites who have dominated the American foreign policy worldview for the last several decades since the end of the Cold War. “At the end of World War II, the United States was, in the words of then Secretary Acheson, tasked with creating a world order ‘a free half’ out of chaos ‘without

Cairo—Hamas has accepted a draft agreement for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of dozens of hostages, two officials involved in the talks said Tuesday. Mediators from the United States and Qatar said Israel and the Palestinian militant group were at the closest point yet to sealing a deal to bring them a step closer to ending 15 months of war.
The Associated Press obtained a copy of the proposed agreement, and an Egyptian official and a Hamas official confirmed its authenticity. An Israeli official said progress has been made, but the details are being finalized. All three officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the talks.

Now she has done it. Jones has stepped aside as president.

As the Los Angeles Fire Department faced extraordinary warnings of life-threatening winds, top commanders decided not to assign for emergency deployment roughly 1,000 available firefighters and dozens of water-carrying engines in advance of the fire that destroyed much of the Pacific Palisades and continues to burn. [SNIP] Fire officials chose not to order the firefighters to remain on duty for a second shift last Tuesday as the winds were building — which would have doubled the personnel on hand — and staffed just five of more than 40 engines that are available to aid in battling wildfires, according to the records obtained by The Times.

Incoming U.S. President Donald Trump will address this year’s World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, just days after being sworn in, the event’s organizers announced today. [Snip] Trump will appear via video on January 23 for a virtual discussion. [Snip] Trump’s speech is sure to raise eyebrows on both sides of the political aisle, but especially among populists and nationalists on the political right, as his recent remarks about acquiring Greenland and annexing Canada have prompted speculation on social media that he is covertly pushing a globalist agenda.

Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth faced a grueling hearing by the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday; while no minds were changed, Hegseth's performance probably ensured his confirmation (see Pete Hegseth's Confirmation Hearing Starts in 30 Minutes, This Is What You Need to Know). In my view, Hegseth showed a respect for the process it probably didn't deserve. He came prepared, and when he wasn't the subject of libelous and defamatory attacks — Hawaii's Mazie Hirono actually accused him of rape — he engaged with senators on the panel. No one could doubt his enthusiasm and zeal for the job.
This is Hegseth's opening statement.

I don’t always get to use that post title. We have seen way too many instances when Republicans did not stay strong. But today in Minnesota, House Republicans did us all proud.
As we have written about here and elsewhere, Minnesota Democrats have staged what is in effect an illegal coup in a desperate attempt to retain control over the state’s House of Representatives. Relegated to minority status because one of their candidates was caught cheating and therefore disqualified by a court, they have chosen not to participate, in hopes of bringing the House to a standstill.

As I told everyone who participated in our live blog on Tuesday, I am not a fan of televised confirmation hearings in the United States Senate. Regardless of which party is in power, the hearings are nothing more than an opportunity for a bunch of attention starved egomaniacs to grandstand. Every senator knows going in to the hearing how he or she is going to vote, so the process is useless.
My personal distaste for seeing "Hollywood for Ugly People" acting out for the cameras doesn't matter, however, and we're stuck with this bad theater.
Thankfully, Pete Hegseth is ready for all of it.
