WASHINGTON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire-and-hostage deal that will end fighting in Gaza, and added it was reached by working alongside the incoming Donald Trump administration. "I can announce a ceasefire and a hostage deal has been reached between Israel and Hamas," Biden said at the White House. The deal was reached after 15 months of suffering, he said, and will be followed by a surge of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Comments:

Ole Joe tries to take some credit for the peace accord. Wonder why that didn't work before?

I remember Iran holding American hostages for over a year while Jimmah was president, then releasing them a few hours before Ronaldus Maximus was inaugurated. Looks like, as Sherlock Holmes once said; "The Wheel of History turns, and the Same Spoke comes up again."

Treasury secretary nominee Scott Bessent turned the tables on independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at his Thursday confirmation hearing by pointing out that President Joe Biden awarded “oligarchs” with the highest honor. Sanders cited President Joe Biden’s statement made in his Wednesday farewell address that “an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence,” and questioned the nominee on whether he agrees that tech moguls Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos have overarching influence on the country. The area around Los Angeles has been impacted by multiple wildfires that rapidly spread through Pasadena and other localities, destroying thousands of buildings and leaving at least 24 people dead, prompting criticism of Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California from President-elect Donald Trump over the state’s forest management policies. Phillip noted that House Speaker Mike Johnson favored introducing certain conditions for California to receive federal aid to rebuild.
