Labour has U-turned over university free speech as it brings back a Tory law clamping down on ‘woke’ cancel culture – but removes its “teeth” by dropping the ability of academics to sue their institutions. Labour told woke students they cannot “shut down” debate on university campuses today as ministers U-turned and revived a Tory law protecting freedom of speech.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson confirmed she would bring in most sections of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023 after a major revolt by academics.

At least two American hostages held by Hamas in Gaza will be returned to their families as part of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement, according to several reports.
Israeli and Hamas officials reached a ceasefire agreement on Wednesday in the 15-month conflict in Gaza, President Joe Biden announced Wednesday. The deal has been confirmed by the U.S. and Qatar, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late Wednesday the deal is not yet complete, according to the Associated Press.
The Israel-Hamas conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants launched a surprise attack in Israel,

People who are familiar with my work are aware that, put mildly, I'm not very fond of present day Democrats. In fact, I think that if we could time travel some prominent Democrats from the 1980s or early 1990s to 2025, they would be repulsed by the likes of Dick Durbin, Adam Schiff, and Mazie Hirono.
I'm not asserting that all Democrats back in the day were great people (Teddy Kennedy, anyone?), I'm merely saying that they weren't all awful people when I first became politically aware and active.
They're all awful now.

Ivanka Trump has zero plans of returning the White House to help her father run the country during his second administration, bluntly declaring: “I hate politics.” Ivanka Trump has revealed why she won’t be returning to the White House for her father’s upcoming term. President-elect Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, who was among his top advisers during his first stint, told the Skinny Confidential’s “Him & Her Show” podcast on Tuesday that she is steering clear of Washington DC this time around.
“I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable,” Ivanka, 43, said, adding it is a “very dark, negative business.”

That the attacks are jihadist is rarely mentioned, or only briefly. Then everything gets forgotten until the next jihadist attack.
In many American universities, tenured professors have openly supported radical Islam for years, described Hamas as a liberation movement, supported terrorism, shown their hatred of the United States and brainwashed students. Radical imams in many US mosques have incited their followers to hate and even murder Jews, and appear to be trying to legitimize jihad.
Political Islam, support for Islamic terrorism and incitement to jihad -- Islamic holy war -- need to be squarely faced and defeated.

Gov. Hochul’s State of the State address Tuesday was another display of empty promises and political posturing.
Beneath the rhetoric lies the harsh truth: This administration and the far-left legislature majorities continue to fail New Yorkers.
Instead of bold solutions, Hochul doubled down on the same disastrous policies that have made our state unaffordable, unsafe and unlivable.
Though the governor frequently talks about affordability, New York remains the highest-taxed state in the nation.
Skyrocketing property taxes are squeezing family budgets, small businesses are strangled by red tape, and residents are fleeing at a record pace.

Puerto Rico’s governor has called on President-elect Donald Trump to respond after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro threatened to invade the U.S. territory.
Governor Jenniffer González-Colón called on Trump’s administration to “swiftly respond and make clear to the Maduro narco-regime that the U.S. will protect American lives and sovereignty and won’t bow down to petty, murderous thugs” in a letter addressed to the president-elect Monday.
González-Colón called Maduro’s threat “an open threat to the United States, our national security and stability in the region.”

Elon Musk will have office space in the White House complex as he begins work on the Department of Government Efficiency, which is hoping to cut government spending, according to The New York Times.
The office space set aside for Musk is in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is located right next to the White House. This would mean that Musk is likely to continue to have prominent access to President-elect Donald Trump after he takes office once again.
The billionaire has reportedly had discussions with the transition team about what level of access he will have to the West Wing in the new administration,

n January 20 the three richest people on Earth will all squeeze into an area together smaller than a Mini Cooper.
That is according to NBC News, which reported on Tuesday that "first buddy" Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Facebook and Instagram boss Mark Zuckerberg will be seated together on the platform at Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington D.C.
These three men, who enjoy a combined estimated net worth of $860 billion, are far from best friends. Often they’ve openly feuded, on both a business and personal level.

Arson investigators from the ATF, LAPD, and LAFD converged at the suspected origin site of the deadly Palisades Fire on Monday afternoon. According to ABC Los Angeles, 15 federal investigators arrived in Los Angeles over the weekend, and Via La Costa is closed to the media while the investigation continues. Via La Costa is adjacent to the Skull Rock Trailhead, where a group of men had been hanging out before the fire started. Multiple people in that group posted video to social media, and while their original posts have been deleted, the videos had already been saved.

Shortly after midnight the DOJ released a 134-page volume 1 report [SEE HERE] outlining a political narrative used by the Biden Dept of Justice in their targeting effort of President-elect Donald Trump.
We are reading it along with you in real time and will have more analysis following complete review. In the interim, everyone knows the timing and release of this report is being done as part of a sequential series of steps intended to undermine the administration of incoming President Donald Trump.

""Among the Islamist terrorist organizations that Qatar and Al-Jazeera have supported over the years are the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Hizbullah, the Al-Nusrah Front/ Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham, ISIS, Hamas, and even the Shiite Iranian proxies in Yemen, Ansar Allah (the Houthis)..." — MEMRI, May 6, 2024.
"The Al-Jazeera TV network is an arm of the Qatari regime. It is owned by the government and carries out its foreign policy by means of indoctrination of the Arabic-speaking masses worldwide. Al-Jazeera, therefore, should not be discussed as a means of telecommunications, but instead as an unyielding and forceful political tool of Qatari foreign policy under the guise of a mass media network.
