Why This Lifelong Democrat Voted for Trump

Original Article

This past November, I cast a ballot that I never would have expected: I voted for Donald Trump. As a lifelong Democrat, this decision was not rooted in ideology, but instead born of personal frustration with America’s broken systems – financial, judicial, and political. My story is not just my own but a reflection of the shared struggles of countless Americans, in almost every economic class, who feel left behind and betrayed by a corrupted system now designed to serve the few at the expense of the many. The initial catalyst for my frustration came during the 2008 financial crisis, a crucible that revealed the staggering flaws of America’s financial infrastructure.

Long overdue, Chris. Long overdue. Now stay upright and continue voting smartly - on every level of office. Okay. Maybe a Dim could make a good dogcatcher. Maybe.

I find it interesting that Leftists are telling dems to reject contact with anyone who voted for Trump last year and yet this author states that they were already using this tactic after 2008, long before Trump, when he wrote a book questioning some liberal tenants. Liberals are vicious and nasty and have been for quite a while. And it has taken this author 16 years to come to the realization that the dems are not solving the problems of the country. Is he a SLLLLOOOOOWWWWW learner? Plus, he seems to be still wedding to some liberal thinking that he disagrees with Trump about. He only set those differences aside because of the urgency of other concerns, ones that he feels Trump MIGHT address. That's sure damning with faint praise, plus a significant blind eye to the insanity of almost all the dem positions and actions. It's nice he gave Trump his vote but if he thinks the dems are going to remake themselves in response so he can "go home" to them, he is delusional. To be clear, if he were an acquaintance, I wouldn't shut him out for his liberal leanings, like his liberal friends did. But neither do I think he is clear thinking and would likely tell him so. I support Trump for his respect for this Country and it's legal framework. I think he is clear and rational thinking about many issues that we face and where we disagree might be because he wants to help the American People and is not a slave to principles that don't allow him to do that. I can respect that. I can accept he will try to do the right things and see how everything will work out. If there are problems, I hope he can change course to seek better answers. THAT is what I want from a president, not adherence to half baked ideals and willingness to do ANYTHING to win. Let's hope this longtime dem and others like him continue to open their eyes wide and see what really has been going on. Anyone who can do that would run screaming from the dem party. If that can happen, America will have a bright future.

The first round of confirmation hearings for Trump Cabinet appointees shows that Democrats aren’t interested in governing — only grandstanding. Look at the circus of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth’s Tuesday hearing. Hawaii’s Sen. Mazie Hirono, a lefty stalwart, debuted an utterly bizarre line about Hegseth greenlighting military invasions of Greenland or takeovers of the Panama Canal; she also asked if Hegseth would follow a hypothetical order from Trump to shoot protesters. Virginia’s Tim Kaine sternly wagged his finger at Hegseth over allegations of bad behavior toward women — pretty rich coming from a man who went puppy-eyes gaga in public for . . . Bill Clinton.

Joe Biden is leaving office the way he came in — under a cloud of self-delusion and amid a rancid stench of lies. He promised to be a standard-bearer of decency, a respecter of norms and the rule of law. He presented himself as a unifier who would help the country heal after the pandemic, a man of integrity and impeccable character, unlike his wretched predecessor. Yet behind closed doors, in the devious recesses of his soul, Joe plotted and planned just two things: self-aggrandizement and vengeance. Joe paid lip service to a grab bag of virtuous goals but, really, he was all about himself.

IDF Reserve Brig. Gen. Amir Avivi says "two things" changed regarding the Israel-Hamas cease-fire agreement after fifteen months of conflict in the Middle East. "This deal has been on the table since May last year and Hamas opposed it completely. Why? There was no real pressure on Hamas," Avivi told "Your World" on Wednesday. "Israel wanted to stop some of the humanitarian aid, especially some of the gasoline, but the administration wouldn't let us do that. So Israel has no major leverage on them." "What's changed is two things," Avivi told Fox News. "One, Israel defeated Hezbollah and Hezbollah cannot support Hamas anymore.

Senate confirmation hearings are set to officially begin this week for Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth. No doubt, the media and some members of the Senate will try to use this opportunity to criticize Hegseth’s personal history and lack of Pentagon experience, but this is a mistake. Indeed, if the chaos in Kabul, wokeness and inefficiency in Washington, and the general decline of America’s military over the last four years under the leadership of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin—a former four-star general and defense contractor board member—have taught us anything, it is that the Defense Department doesn’t need another Washington insider at the helm.

As he leaves office next week, President Biden will primarily be remembered for his astounding incompetence. As a new generation of officeholders from both parties battles the devastating consequences of his failed leadership, his destructive impact on his own party, agenda and voters will cast a long shadow. Among the myriad failures, five stand out as a cautionary tale for future leaders. Breathtaking dishonesty Even in the corrupt world of politics, Biden stood out for his obvious lack of integrity. How to DOGE US Foreign Aid 7 replies

Foreign aid has been a pillar of America’s global strategy since the Marshall Plan and Japan’s postwar reconstruction—historic successes that created allies with booming economies. Today, foreign aid spending has surged to heights not seen in decades. But key agencies like USAID have veered off course with pet projects replacing strategic interests. Accountability is virtually non-existent. It’s time for serious reform. Under the Biden Administration, USAID’s budget exploded, funneling billions to activist NGOs and organizations favored by the progressive wing of the Democratic party. The largest recipients of USAID funding are foreign governments and NGOs—practically guaranteeing minimal oversight and no chance of return on investment.

Vice President-elect JD Vance repeated the phrases "dumpster fire" three times during an interview on "FOX News Sunday" to describe the situation President Biden is leaving for the new administration on spending, debt, inflation, immigration, the border, and more. "Our number one responsibility is compassion to our fellow Americans. And that starts with enforcing the southern border," Vance said. "If you came into this country illegally, you need to go back home." "You need to have basic law enforcement," he said. "And what the Democrats are going to do is they're going to hide behind this. They're going to say that this is all about compassion for families. It is not

What was the most under-reported news story during the Biden presidency? In the last week or so, there has been a sudden burst of recognition of the extent to which Democrats and the media worked together to cover up Biden’s progressing cognitive decline. One media figure after another has come forward to call this the “most under-reported” story of the last year or several years. Some examples among many include: CBS correspondent Jan Crawford on December 30 (“That [the most under-reported story] would be, to me, Joe Biden's obvious cognitive decline that became undeniable in a televised debate")

Michelle Obama is skipping Donald Trump’s inauguration because she’s “no phony,” we’re told. While her husband appears to be playing nice with the president-elect, Michelle won’t do the same. Former President Barack Obama and Trump appeared chummy at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral, but Michelle was nowhere in sight because she was reportedly on an “extended holiday vacation” in Hawaii. (Photo) She isn’t even giving an excuse for Jan. 20. The Office of Barack and Michelle Obama simply announced that Michelle “will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” in a statement to the Associated Press on Tuesday. And a source familiar with the Obamas’ circle told Page Six it’s “deliberate.”

During the California leg of a year-long journey across America, I devoted a day to visiting two presidential libraries within a short distance of each other. I started that morning at the Richard Nixon Presidential Museum and Library and a few hours later proceeded to that of Ronald Reagan. Some months earlier I had also stopped at the Harry Truman Library and Museum in Missouri. Every president is actively encouraged to plan and construct an official repository of his documents from his time in office. The resulting library is more than the collection of the paperwork generated during his tenure, however.

For awhile there, we thought something had changed in her when she graciously certified the 2024 election in the Senate and put on a decent appearance at Jimmy Carter's funeral. It seemed like a politically smart way of distinguishing herself from bitter Joe Biden and preserving her political viability. But now the old Kamala is back, classless as ever, refusing to give the incoming vice president, J.D. In his final address to the American people, Biden thanked the public for the honor of serving as president and wished Trump “success,” before pivoting to an ominous message about the alleged threat posed by a newly ascendant American oligarchy. “Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights, the freedoms and the fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden said.
