Fleeing Florida!

For a host of reasons, it became convenient for progressives to suggest that large numbers were fleeing Florida in search of a better life. When Florida governor Ron DeSantis was a GOP presidential frontrunner, liberal Democrats dug up every scrap of information suggesting he was an ineffective governor, noting that thousands were fleeing his state as a result of his supposedly poor governance. When Trump became the GOP nominee, the attack on Trump’s adopted home state continued. Hundreds if not thousands of articles were generated implying that Trump’s adopted home state was such a disaster that there was a mass exodus. The reality is just the opposite.

I've been there several times and liked it pretty well, with an asterisk. The state is divided between the beach and sunglasses portion, and the redneck portion. I liked the rednecks just fine, but found the beach types to be very shallow and uninteresting. Thats despite the bikinis, which are wonderful. My biggest concern would be insurance rates, as the state seems to blow away every few years. My income cant pay that much.

I first moved to Florida, to Key West, in 1961. Since then, every place I lived in the state, and those I visited have been steadily overrun by "Yankees" (as the locals used to call them) moving in by the millions. The state is a lot more crowded and there are a lot more Yankees, with their Yankee ideas (NY, NJ, Mass, and the rest of the dysfunctional NE states) messing up the state. And yet, the state still functions pretty well, and sanity seems to be prevailing. That's amazing. And if a few thousand leave.....YEA! Better for all the rest of us.

I grew up in South Florida - moved there in 1970 and would move back again (husband doesn't want to) but not to any coastal city. Whenever I drive down to visit my good friend who lives in Naples and who also grew up in South Florida after her family moved there from CT in late 1960s), the interstate and even the back roads I take to get to Naples - are clean. Can't say that about the states of GA, SC, NC and VA. Virginia may be a Southern state but in many ways, worse than FL for all the Yankees aka lefty Dems, who live here.

During Covid, many D.C. swamp creatures who were all in on the shots for everyone went to Florida to escape the lockdowns and to experience some freedom. Once back, they went right back to the lock down mentality for everyone. Also, if large number of people are leaving Florida, it's not because of DeSantis. It's the increasing costs of living there. Between the hurricanes causing insurance rates to skyrocket, or the increasing cost of housing in general, many people who retired there who are on fixed incomes, just can't afford to live there anymore.

Wifey & I moved to FL 21 years ago and never regretted it. The problem now (since covid?) is every piece of vacant land is being bought by developers. What were orange groves and cattle ranches are turning into housing or businesses. Fortunately, FL is still predominately 'red' but for how long? Don't Turn Florida into California or New York.

Harpo Marx never spoke on screen, yet generations of Americans laughed at, cried with, and enthusiastically applauded him for his comedic genius and musical brilliance. But even amidst the fame and glory of a lengthy career on stage and screen, the Jewish Marx had to contend always with the dark specter of anti-Semitism, leading him to fight for equal rights for all persecuted individuals and for the re-creation of the state of Israel. The “Marx Brothers” are legendary in American entertainment history, comprising altogether in their vaudeville and movie careers five brothers, nicknamed Groucho, Harpo, Chico, Zeppo, and Gummo,

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who, as we reported, was busy dancing happily at a Taylor Swift concert Friday night as pro-Hamas forces rioted on the streets of Montreal, said at a Thursday press conference Thursday that he would have Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrested if the premier arrived on Canadian soil. As Tim Walz might say, the guy is just plain “weird.” His comments come after the ICC embarrassed themselves by issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu as he is engaged in a fight for the survival of Israel against permanent aggressors Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. Iran International, a Persian-language international media outlet with ties to Iranian regime opponents, is reporting that Iran's Assembly of Experts, the only body empowered to appoint or dismiss a supreme leader, has named Mojtaba Khamenei, the second son of current leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as his successor. The outlet also reports that Mojtaba Khamenei may assume the office of supreme leader before his father dies. It's no secret that the 85-year-old Ali Khamenei is in poor health. But the meeting of the Assembly of Experts was called suddenly and with no warning by Khamenei. The 60-member body was instructed to decide on the succession immediately under strict confidentiality.

Over the past day, speculation in the media was tipping former Georgia senator, Kelly Loeffler, as President-elect Trump's pick for the Secretary of the Agriculture (Ag) Department. But early Saturday afternoon, things had meandered another direction entirely, when the Wall Street Journal exclusively reported its sources were pointing to former Trump advisor, Brooke Rollins. While that nomination remained unofficial, we did get other announcements of posts, including for the new head of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The numbers, obtained by Mediaite, show that after Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski broke the news shortly after 6 a.m., 38 percent of those in the 25-54 demographic had stopped watching by the next hour. Given the show’s early morning time slot, viewership typically rises from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. President Joe Biden has been known to tune in regularly.

Some in the scientific community are shocked and dismayed. President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, and other federal health agencies. Are their concerns warranted? Or, are they hypocritical? Kennedy’s three stated goals for the federal health agencies are (i) evidence-based medicine, (ii) clean up corruption and conflicts of interest, and (iii) end the chronic disease epidemic, with special emphasis on our children and concrete results within two years. These are not only laudable goals, but urgent ones.

Tuesday is the 1,000th day of the Russia-Ukraine War, and the Deep State irresponsibly escalates it further by authorizing Ukraine’s Zelensky to launch American-made ATACMS long-range missiles against targets within Russia. Pronounced “attack ’ems,” ATACMS was supplied to Ukraine by the pro-war, globalist military elite in Washington, D.C. Ukraine quickly used a half-dozen of these missiles on Tuesday against Russian military stockpiles, which appears to be only the beginning. Soon U.S. missiles costing more than a million dollars apiece could rain down on Russia, perhaps eventually against cities, as Ukraine has forced teenagers into its army and kids may be picking the targets as in a video game.

Among the many benefits of Donald Trump’s re-election that our nation and the world are already experiencing is the forever tarnished legacy of Barack Obama. In 2028, will the Democrat candidate want Obama to go on the campaign trail for him or her? I doubt it. Obama's Un-enduring Influence When he was elected president (assuming that massive Democratic cheating was not in full swing in 2008), Democrats held a commanding 55- to 45-seat majority in the U.S. Senate and an overwhelming 256- to 179-seat majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

One other worrisome thing is how she handled the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case back in as Florida’s AG twelve years ago. Sundance, at Conservative Treehouse, has written a detailed analysis

Yellen — who, it was revealed Friday, will be replaced as Treasury secretary in January by hedge fund mogul Scott Bessent — was Joe Biden’s pick to run the office that is essentially the country’s CFO. Indeed, it could be the most important cabinet position in the White House given the importance of the US economy. Trump’s electoral victory has advanced the demise of MSNBC and CNN for good reason. The fall of NBC, ABC, and CBS should follow. Each of these so-called news outlets has betrayed their viewers for as long as they have been on the air. They consistently misled their viewers day after day to the point that Trump’s victory was a major shock to their systems. Those blinkered viewers sadly believed what those networks told them -- that Trump could not possibly win, that Harris would win in a landslide. They misled their viewers so egregiously that those who only watched those outlets were understandably shocked by Trump’s win.
