Few living Americans have stood longer against government persecution for their freedoms than Colorado baker Jack Phillips. He has been repeatedly targeted under Colorado anti-discrimination law for adhering to his Christian faith. At long last, his third legal saga is over after the Colorado supreme court on Tuesday rejected the latest lawsuit against him on procedural grounds. After twelve years, Phillips is free of the courts. We can only hope he stays free — and that his fellow citizens will, too. The end of the current round of persecution of Phillips is cause for celebration but not for unbridled joy. This is America.

At American Greatness, Roger Kimball has fun at the expense of Kamala Harris’s no good, terrible, very bad week. It is all worth reading; he talks about the fake pheasant hunt, the “I’m man enough to vote for Kamala” ad, etc. But I want to focus on this story:

As we reported earlier, Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign has been rocked by allegations that Harris plagiarized parts of her book, "Smart on Crime," which she co-wrote in 2009 with author Joan O'C. Hamilton.
The claims were made by leading Critical Race Theory critic Christopher Rufo in a detailed Twitter/X thread and Substack piece, both of which were published Monday morning.
According to Rufo, the Democrat presidential nominee "plagiarized at least a dozen sections of her criminal-justice book," as discovered by Austrian "plagiarism hunter" Dr. Stefan Weber, who Rufo says "has taken down politicians in the German-speaking world."

The Grand Rapid City Clerk’s Office has announced that it is resending 100 absentee ballots after the original ballots mysteriously disappeared in the mail.
Grand Rapids City Clerk Joel Hondorp revealed absentee ballots were sent out on September 26 but was later notified by 100 residents in northwest Grand Rapids that they never received them.
Hondrop shared, “It’s common for some absentee ballots to get lost because the United States Postal Service has many moving pieces.”
He added, “If a voter wants to know what the status of their ballot is, if they haven’t received it, they can go to Michigan.gov/vote and they can track their ballot that way.”
