Walmart Responds to Nationwide Boycott
as Stores Face 'Blackout'

Walmart has issued a public response to a growing nationwide boycott that began Monday, as some Americans pledge to avoid the retail giant for a week in protest over a range of economic and political grievances. "Serving communities is at the heart of Walmart's purpose to help people save money and live better," the company said in a statement shared with Newsweek. (Snip) The protest is the latest in a string of consumer-led boycotts targeting major corporations over their political influence, labor practices, or perceived social stances. The consumer strike is being run by a group called People's Union USA

Comments:

Oh yawn. Like Cory Booker they cannot figure out what they are actually protesting. Just want to have a temper tantrum.

"...we want these corporations to start paying their fair share of taxes so the American people can finally be relieved of the burden of federal income tax." This is typical Marxist zero-sum, spread-the-wealth blather. Economics doesn't work that way. All corporate taxes would do ends up being transferred into higher prices on the goods sold to the consumer. BTW, I suspect the ulterior motive behind this 'blackout' is the latest temper tantrum by union goons like John Schwarz and his 'People's Union ' over Walmart's prohibitions of a unionized workforce of their 'associates'.

My issues with Walmart are their stores are too large and too crowded. I try to keep my visits to less than 30 minutes. Not easy if I am browsing or don't know where something is. However, they tend to have some of the cheapest prices anywhere. Doubt many people will support the boycott.

I doubt this will really hurt Walmart much, but if it does, they asked for it. Big Corporations need to keep their noses out of politics, and that includes Wall Street. If they do decide to get involved, they can reap what they sow.

Was accosted by a similar group a few years ago while trying to enter a Walmart. They shouted to me about how I was supporting "slave wage labor" by shopping at Walmart. I turned to their apparent "leader," and asked him: "Walmart is giving wages and benefits to these people. Do have jobs to give them if this store closes down?" Crickets . . .

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is leading Chuck Schumer by double digits in a new head-to-head poll of the 2028 New York primary. The survey by the liberal firm Data for Progress, first shared with POLITICO, found that 55 percent of Democratic likely voters said they supported or leaned toward supporting Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, while 36 percent backed or leaned toward backing Sen. Schumer. Nine percent were undecided. The poll is the latest sign that Schumer’s standing among the Democratic base has taken a hit since he voted to advance a GOP funding bill last month that avoided a government shutdown. The fact that

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is known for steering clear of the traditional, somber attire expected in Washington, DC, playing the suit game by his own rules. But he's also got a second kind of unconventional look — operator casual. It's a different vibe from the conspicuously bright blue suit he wore at the recent NATO summit, drawing criticism, but it shares some similarities to some of his other preferred flair, like flag-linings in his suits, patriotic socks, and a star-spangled pocket square. The style gained momentum during the Global War on Terrorism, or GWOT, though earlier versions date back to

Tesla has become a lightning rod for violent attacks and vandalism in the months since CEO Elon Musk joined the Trump administration. Now, people who disagree with Musk’s role in politics are hoping to channel their emotions into something peaceful: a day of mass nonviolent protests at Tesla locations nationwide. Parents know that autism diagnoses have skyrocketed over the past few years, and, given how today’s little children are vaccine pincushions, they’re rightly worried. However, I’d like to suggest some alternative reasons for the increased number of diagnoses. My ideas are not based on studies or a medical degree (I don’t have one) but on a little bit of common sense.
