Democrats are trying to make a big deal out of the fact that John McCain’s son, Jimmy, is now a registered Democrat who endorsed Kamala. (snip) Directive 1344.10 says that the military must respect “the traditional concept that members on active duty should not engage in partisan political activity...” (snip) What they cannot do is... (snip) "Participate in any radio, television, or other program or group discussion as an advocate for or against a partisan political party, candidate, or cause."

What would you expect from members of the John McCain family? If this Jimmy is not on active duty with the US Army what is the issue? Jimmy like any other American has the right to support and vote for any candidate running for elected office, that’s his business!

I recall that back during the 1980 campaign, my dad was named as an alternate delegate to the Texas GOP Convention. Problem was, he was still active duty Air Force at the time. At some point before the convention, he learned that it was against regulations to hold such a position, and he relinquished the role. As far as I know, that settled the matter and there was no disciplinary action for having initially accepted it. But the lesson stuck with me. When I was in college I would volunteer to work for GOP campaigns, but once I became Army civilian personnel, I stopped my campaign activities and pretty much confined my politicizing to running my mouth here on Lucianne.

Another political family that I wish was sitting in the dustbin of history along with: McCains, Clintons, Kennedys, Bushes, Obamas, etc., but alas, the legacy media still gives them the attention they do not deserve.

McCain was a pompous man. He was in the Navy because of his father, and Young Jack is there for the same reason. Beer money got them the funding they needed. Their family history is interesting, but tainted. I have no respect for his daughter, Pudgy.

It is called the UCMJ (Uniform code of military justice).
Firstly, he IS subject to the provisions as he is currently on active duty, USMC.
Secondly, after the election of Barack Hussein Obama in 2008, the statute was refined.
FTA"As best as I can tell, the Department of Defense’s last word on the subject was Directive 1344.10, issued in 2008, immediately after Barack Obama came to office. That Directive says that members of the American Armed Forces are entitled and, indeed, “encourage[d]...to carry out the obligations of citizenship.” However, paired with that civic obligation, Directive 1344.10 says that the military must respect “the traditional concept that members on active duty should not engage in partisan political activity...”
"What they cannot do is... Well, it’s also a long list. I’ll confine myself to the one item that interests me:
Participate in any radio, television, or other program or group discussion as an advocate for or against a partisan political party, candidate, or cause.
For this prohibition, there does not seem to be any exception for a service member who appears on television out of uniform."...
Does that help clarify?

John McCain was an unregistered democrat. The only difference is a little paperwork.

There's probably an exception written into all these laws and codes, usually in crayon or pencil saying "but if you're opposed to that evil Trump, it's okay."

It's telling that traitor McCain's son is more upset about Trump supporting the families of the victims than about the person that put them in Arlington. Knowing what she and pudding-brain did in the final days of our time in Afghanistan, how could any military member support Kamrade Harris? I guess traitors run in the McCain family.

McCain noted Trump's behavior with the Gold Star families on Memorial Day at Arlington Cemetery as a factor in his decision to support Harris Walz. I am still trying to figure out what exactly Trump allegedly did that was so horrible during that day. Yes he posted photos of the ceremony. So di the media. The media posts photos/video of ceremonies at Arlington all the time. I scoured the Arlington website and could find nowhere that it said no photographs or video allowed. anyway, who care what any McCain family members have to say. Their opinion has about much weight as Kennedy children, Obama children, Carter children, and the Clinton kid.
