The FBI has confirmed that the 14-year-old Apalachee High School shooter, Colt Gray, a student at the Georgia school, was known to the agency as early as May 2023 after receiving “several anonymous tips about online threats to commit a school shooting at an unidentified location and time.”
This comes after we learned that an unidentified individual also warned the high school via phone that it would be the first of five schools targeted with violence prior to the shooting on Wednesday.
The FBI's Atlanta Field Office has released some new details about the alleged shooter responsible for killing four and injuring several others at Apalachee High School on Wednesday.
Among the details was the fact that Colt Gray had been investigated previously for making online threats to commit a school shooting in 2023. [Tweet]
According to the agency's statement, in May 2023, the FBI investigated online threats and determined they came from Gray, though the then-13-year-old denied making them. Area schools were still put on alert and told to monitor him.

Two students and two teachers were killed when a 14-year-old gunman opened fire at Apalachee High School in Georgia Wednesday morning, cops said.
The gunman — identified as Colt Gray — was a student at the school, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey confirmed.
After opening fire around 10:20 a.m., a school resource officer quickly confronted the gunman, and he surrendered immediately, Hosey said
Nine other people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, including a math teacher who was left with a shattered hip. At least two victims were airlifted to a hospital.
Gray will be charged with murder as an adult, Hosey said.

During a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the shooter as 14-year-old Colt Gray. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith says that a school resource officer engaged Gray shortly after shots were fired. Gray then got on the ground, surrendered and was taken into custody.
Smith says that Gray realized that if he did not give himself up, he would have been shot.
They say Gray has been interviewed by sheriff’s office investigators and the GBI.

The Justice Department is cracking down on suspected Russian attempts to interfere with the 2024 U.S. presidential election through online propaganda, announcing Wednesday the indictment of two Russia-based employees of RT, a Kremlin-backed propaganda outlet, on charges of money laundering and violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
The Biden administration also unveiled sanctions against ten Russian individuals and entities, and seized 32 internet domains connected to operation “Doppelganger,” a Kremlin-sponsored campaign to propagandize Americans through fraudulent websites and social-media accounts that resemble legitimate news sources.
The Biden-Harris administration is planning to accuse Russia of a “covert” and “sustained effort to influence the 2024 presidential election” and take a “series of moves” to address it, “six sources familiar with the matter” told CNN.

A former City University of New York (CUNY) staff member is suing the university for wrongfully terminating her employment after she converted to Christianity, according to a religious discrimination lawsuit filed last week.
Teona Pagan, who worked at CUNY’s Research Foundation as the Fellowships and Public Service Program Coordinator, alleges she was denied a religious accommodation for an aspect of her job that required her to recruit students for a fellowship focused on the promotion of LGBT “rights and causes,” according to the complaint filed Aug. 28.

Linda Sun, who held numerous posts in New York state government before rising to the rank of deputy chief of staff for Hochul, was arrested on Tuesday morning along with her husband, Chris Hu, at their $3.5m home on Long Island.

Presidential candidate Kamala Harris still holds a slight lead over former President Donald Trump, but will it last after last week’s interview with CNN? Harris still enjoyed an edge with prospective voters as Labor Day approached, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests, but it might not be sustainable as Trump consolidates his strength among swing-state voters.
In a head-to-head matchup, Harris holds a 48% to 45% advantage over Trump in the September I&I/TIPP Poll, with 1,386 registered voters answering the survey from Aug. 28-Aug. 30. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.8 percentage points.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered up to 30 officials to be executed over their alleged failure to prevent massive flooding and landslides in the summer that resulted in the deaths of some 4,000 people, according to South Korean media.
An official under Kim’s regime said between 20 and 30 leaders in North Korea had been charged with corruption and dereliction of duty, with the state sentencing them to capital punishment, TV Chosun reported.
“It has been determined that 20 to 30 cadres in the flood-stricken area were executed at the same time late last month,” the official told the outlet
The Republican National Committee and the North Carolina Republican Party filed a joint lawsuit accusing the state’s Board of Elections of allowing hundreds of thousands of people to register to vote without providing the identification required by law. According to the lawsuit, the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) "is opening the door for non-citizens to vote" by not requiring proof of identity for about 225,000 voters in the form of a driver’s license or the last four digits of a Social Security number, violating the 2002 Help America Vote Act.

According to The Daily Mail, 25-year-old Kinaya Willis was pulled over for driving while using a cell phone on August 24 in Tyrone, Georgia when officers realized she had a suspended license.
Kinaya Willis told the police officer that she was using her cell phone “due to her mother calling her related to her pregnancy.”
Fani Willis showed up to the scene as officers arrested her daughter.
