The race for Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District is in a dead heat, according to a new poll paid for by the Derrick Anderson campaign. Anderson, a Republican, and Democrat Eugene Vindman are running to represent the district in the upcoming November election. ccording to the poll, seventeen percent of voters are undecided and nearly one in four independents are undecided. The survey had a margin of error of 4.9 percent. “Less than half of voters have heard of either Anderson or Vindman,” the survey conclusion says.

Comments:

Certain democrats spent mightily to get Vindman for the runoff election. Based on Q2 2024 reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, Vindman raised $7.5 million and spent $5.2 million and Anderson raised $1.4 million and spent $0.9 million. Meanwhile, as for character support, Republican Governor Youngkin has a district approval rating of 56 percent; Harris' district approval at 42 percent; and Biden was 45 percent. Disapproval ratings are Youngkin 30%, Harris 47%, and Biden 51%.

Underestimate the Dems in this District at your peril. From Prince William County (used to be solid red and home to MCB Quantico), to Fredericksburg City, to magically appearing thumb drives with just enough votes to get Spanberger elected, Anderson has an uphill battle.

BOTH of the Vindemans should have been summarily, dishonorably, discharged...barring them from pensions or ever holding public offices.

Canada, following the lead of the United States and European Union, said on Monday it would impose a 100% tariff on imports of Chinese electric vehicles and announced a 25% tariff on imported steel and aluminum from China. The duties apply to all EVs shipped from China, which would include those made by Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab, a Canadian government official said. Canadian imports of automobiles from China to its largest port, Vancouver, jumped 460% year over year to 44,356 in 2023, when Tesla started shipping Shanghai-made EVs to Canada. "I think we all know that China is not playing by the same rules," he told reporters.

A Kansas judge has dismissed federal machine gun possession charges, including for having a "Glock switch," citing the Second Amendment and recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings in gun rights cases. U.S. District Judge John Broomes on Wednesday dismissed two counts of unlawful possession of a machine gun against Tamori Morgan. Morgan had been indicted by a grand jury in April 2023 in U.S. District Court in Wichita. Broomes wrote that the prosecution "fails to meet its burden to demonstrate that possession of the types of weapons at issue in this case are lawfully prohibited under the Second Amendment."

The strange saga of how two Mexican drug lords were detained after landing in a plane in the United States in July just got stranger. The Mexican government now says it is bringing charges against Joaquín Guzmán López, but not because he was a leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel founded by his father, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Instead, Mexican prosecutors are bringing charges against the younger Guzmán for apparently kidnapping Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada — an older drug boss from a rival faction of the cartel — forcing him onto the plane and flying to an airport near El Paso, Texas.

A federal appeals court ruled that Minnesota's law that bans people ages 18 to 20 from obtaining permits to carry guns is unconstitutional, prompting criticism over Governor Tim Walz's stance on the Second Amendment. "As a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, I welcome the federal appeals court's decision regarding Minnesota's law. This ruling affirms the constitutional rights of all law-abiding citizens to bear arms," Republican Minnesota Rep. Pete Stauber said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "It is crucial, especially at a time when crime rates are a concern, that individuals have the means to protect themselves and their families."

A federal judge has ordered California to accept concealed carry applications from out-of-state residents. This victory is the second time a state has been forced to issue out-of-state concealed carry permits this month. Early in August, New York City passed an emergency order to issue permits to non-New York residents to avoid a lawsuit by Gun Owners of America. In this case plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in the United States Central District Court of California. The suit challenges California’s refusal to issue or recognize out-of-state concealed carry permits, the exorbitant fees to obtain a concealed carry permit, the long wait times, the required psychological exam, and the discretionary denials

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett decided that California’s ban on concealed carry permits for non-residents fails standards set forth by Bruen (2022) and Rahimi (2024). Therefore, Garnett, a Joe Biden appointee, issued an injunction against the ban. The case focused on the prohibition against permit issuance to out-of-state residents. Gun Owners Foundation highlighted portions of Garnett’s decision wherein she wrote, “Here, Plaintiffs have… demonstrated that the text of the Second Amendment likely applies to the first of its arguments, that non-residents have the right, like California residents, to apply to lawfully carry firearms for self-defense while in public.”

As armored and ‘maneuver warfare’ emerges in Europe, the one weapon that can pin down enemy steel and infantry, which Ukraine lacks in large numbers, Russia has and the US is fervently potentiating, is the attack helicopter. The stunning Ukrainian incursion into Kursk finally marks the dawn of Western ‘maneuver warfare’ on the front. Fast moving mechanized formations assaulted the frontline ‘screens’, driving deep into the enemy rear, exploiting the lack of Russian defensive preparedness there. But as Western think-tanks like the ISW (Institute for the Study of War) suggest, it is important to capitalize on the “operational surprise,” “restore” maneuver warfare and address the “problems” with “permanent positional warfare.”

The Arizona supreme court ruled in favor of GOP lawmakers who sought to include the phrase “unborn human being” in informational pamphlets about the state’s upcoming abortion referendum, a decision that abortion advocates called “biased” and “politically charged.” The “unborn human being” terminology did not violate a state law mandating non-partisan language on the pamphlets, the court ruled on Wednesday. The informational fliers are mailed out by Arizona’s secretary of state to inform voters about the potential impacts of statewide ballot referendums. Arizona’s November referendum aims to enshrine abortion access until fetal viability, the point when the baby can survive outside of the mother’s uterus,

A Tennessee 10-year-old was expelled from school for a full year after he pointed his finger in the shape of a gun and made mock "machine gun" noises, according to a ProPublica investigation. The boy was expelled as part of a "zero tolerance" law in Tennessee that mandates any student who makes a threat of "mass violence" be expelled for at least one year. While the law, originally signed in 2023—following a shooting by a former student at a private school in Nashville—was recently amended to direct schools to expel students only for "valid" threats, the provisions of the law are still vague, and schools have considerable enforcement leeway.

A conservative-backed push for stricter proof-of-citizenship requirements for voting could complicate efforts to avert a government shutdown next month. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have acknowledged a stopgap of some kind, also known as a continuing resolution (CR), will be necessary to keep the government funded past Sept. 30. But calls are growing among House conservatives to use that must-pass measure to force consideration of a partisan bill aimed at barring noncitizens from voting — laying the groundwork for a clash with the Democratic-led Senate, which would likely reject such a package.

High LDL (otherwise known as ‘bad’) cholesterol is considered a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, which together claim over 850,000 lives each year in the United States. Hence, great efforts are expended in identifying high LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol in patients, and in lowering their levels. But is cholesterol—and LDL cholesterol in particular—really the arch enemy of health that we’ve been led to believe? “A person that has good, healthy levels of cholesterol means that their biochemical system is working in this particular spot—in terms of cholesterol regulation and (cholesterol) transport,” says biochemical researcher, Dr. Dayan Goodenowe.
