Donald Trump has enlisted the help of former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as he fine-tunes for his first debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. Gabbard, 43, took part in a recent strategy session with the former president, 78, at his Mar-Lago estate ahead of his September debate against the 59-year-old Democratic nominee, according to the New York Times. Gabbard, who at one point was on Trump’s lengthy running mate shortlist, has experience debating Harris dating back to their time as Democratic presidential primary candidates in 2019, and she unleashed a blistering attack on the then-California senator’s record as top prosecutor in the Golden State in one of their showdowns.

Vice President Kamala Harris capped the star-studded Democratic National Convention on Thursday by vowing to unite Americans and usher in a “new way forward” — but offered little insight into her policy agenda that would achieve that.
Harris, 59, formally accepted her party’s presidential nomination in a speech that focused on her “middle-class” background and painted former President Donald Trump as an “unserious man” whose election would have “extremely serious” consequences for American democracy.
In the nearly 40-minute address, Harris leaned heavily on her childhood and her “unexpected” journey to the White House.

Not only do Democrats fashion themselves the protectors of “democracy,” they claim to be champions of decency.
Well, if the second day of the Democratic National Convention is any indication, the left doesn’t have any claim to the moral high ground.
For one thing, no one at the DNC seemed even mildly constrained by the truth.
More than once, for instance, Democrats falsely claimed that former President Donald Trump had referred to the tiki torch Nazis of Charlottesville as “very fine people.”
Democrats also falsely accused the former president of instructing Americans to “inject bleach” during the COVID pandemic.
If a person was forced to pick one word to describe the third night of the Democratic National Committee it would probably be “exhausting.”
It was nearly 11 pm, three hours into the prime-time portion of the day, when our monotonous Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg finally hit the DNC stage. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is pushing his state’s university system to look into former University of Florida (UF) President Ben Sasse’s expenses in the wake of reporting from a student newspaper on the subject.
“We take the stewardship of state funds very seriously and have already been in discussions with leadership at the university and with the Board of Governors to look into the matter,” Bryan Griffin, a communications director for DeSantis, said in an emailed statement sent Thursday to The Hill.
