Dave Ramsey explains why Kamala Harris'
price control plan will not curb inflation:
'It's not sustainable'

Personal finance expert Dave Ramsey joined "The Ingraham Angle" to explain why VP Kamala Harris' economic plan will not work. Ramsey reacted to the Democratic presidential nominee's proposal to implement federal price controls in order to stop "price gouging" on groceries. DAVE RAMSEY: It's not sustainable because it's artificial. If you just put a lid on something and if you want to explore what really happens, just go back to the 1970s. We tried it. There was a whole movement for price controls across everything, because inflation was out of control and rampant, just like it is now.

There is something insidious about a government that pursues inflationary policy, but then propses to stop businesses from making adjustments to compensate for the inflation.

Warming over previously tried price controls was a miserable failure. Unfortunately, it was Nixon who championed it in about 1970. And high inflation reared its ugly head, anyway.

Wage and price controls and communism do not work. The mid 70's proved the wage and price controls did not work, but unless you are someone who long ago was in a gas line on an odd or even numbered day, you may not recall. The invisible hand works.

The first result of every such price control, and is guaranteed to happen, is that the targeted commodity disappears...first becomes scarce, then completely unavailable. The reason is that a retailer (e.g., grocery store, gasoline station, whatever) cannot stay in business if the govt mandates that they sell their products below cost.

The dems never learn. I seem to recall that in Bill Clinton's first term, Hillary induced him to set a price control on some prescription med (I think it was an HIV vaccine)...in an ill-disguised attempt to placate the gay lobby. On the day the price control was set, there were over 32 different companies manufacturing the vaccine. One year later, only one manufacturer was still in business, and the vaccine had become very scarce. No one but the US Govt can run a business at a loss...and inflation proves that even the US Govt will pay for that mistake.

They never learn do they. I remember the last wage and price controls from the 70's. If I rummage through my old jewelry box I might find the pin they were handing out back then...WIN...Whip Inflation Now. A few years afterwards there were people who had been in Nixon's administration saying...'what were we thinking?' Wish I could remember who said that. I just googled to see if I could find out more about this and it was exactly 52 years ago today that Nixon put price controls in place.

Democrats don’t give a hooey if price controls work. The Dems just know their slow constituents will accept it as an awesome achievement. Just talking about it gets the dumb and dumber vote. If implemented it will be the mean greedy corporations fault when it epically fails.

My rock-ribbed conservative parents (and their parents) only produced one conservative child and grandchild (who married an equally conservative Navy vet). Dave Ramsey may be stating the obvious, but the message has to get out. If only he could get on channels outside of the “bubble”, but I don’t see that happening.

Prominent attorney Alan Dershowitz announced his departure from the Democratic Party, citing several "anti-Jewish" lawmakers that make up the ranks of the party and the recent Democratic National Convention in which Vice President Kamala Harris became the party's presidential nominee. Speaking with radio host Zev Brenner on "Talkline with Zev Brenner," Dershowitz cited the DNC, which he said gave legitimacy to anti-Israel speakers, and anti-Israel protesters outside the gathering. "It was the most anti-Jewish, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist convention I've experienced," he said. "I was disgusted at the Democratic National Convention. Absolutely disgusted.”

If Harris’s lead in the Blue Wall states lasts until Election Day, she will garner 270 electoral votes, even if she loses all the other swing states. In recent elections, not just individual polls but also poll averages have turned out to be misleading. Differences between final averages and actual results usually have reflected underestimates of Trump’s vote share more than overestimates of support for Democratic candidates.

Thousands of Colombians were forced to walk to work on Tuesday, as truckers in major cities blocked highways to protest a recent increase in the price of diesel fuel. Truckers unions have said that plans by the government to eliminate diesel fuel subsidies would push their businesses to the brink of bankruptcy, while the administration of left-wing President Gustavo Petro argues it must phase out subsidies to cut a growing budget deficit and direct more funds to education and health. On Saturday, the government raised the price of diesel fuel to around $2.90 per gallon, an increase of 50 cents, following numerous meetings with truckers unions.

Former President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that his message to undecided voters in Pennsylvania ahead of November’s general election is that his administration would bring prosperity to Pennsylvanians through common-sense approaches to energy, border security, and strengthening manufacturing. “We are going to bring the cost down on energy, and that is going to bring down the cost of everything,” Trump said. The former president added that he wants voters to know he would take the country to a better place not just on costs but on the massive influx of illegal immigrants who have crossed the southern border since the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration.

In her one and only interview of the presidential campaign, Kamala Harris claimed she is “very proud” of the economy she and Joe Biden have presided over for almost four years. Her rosy view of their management of inflation echoes Biden’s tone-deaf boasts about what a great job he’s done, while Americans struggle to pay for groceries. “I’m very proud of the work that we have done that has brought inflation down to less than 3%,” Harris told CNN last week.

Polling is a useful tool in politics, if somewhat blunt and slow, and this weekend Democrats were taking no small comfort in an ABC/Ipsos survey showing Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump by 4 points nationally. But the important thing about this poll is not the margin. After all, Rasmussen has Trump up by 2 points. Nobody knows which is right. What’s important is that on Aug. 13, this same ABC poll also showed Harris up 4. Put another way, Harris' momentum isn’t just gone, it's been gone for a while.

You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time."

Credit where it’s due: It takes serious chutzpah to gaslight an entire nation. That’s what progressives did last week at the Democratic National Convention when they tried to seize the mantle of freedom. A political movement that has, for more than a century, been explicitly devoted to taxing, regulating, mandating, and surveilling is making a big push to rebrand. Don’t fall for it. Progressivism remains as wedded as ever to empowering bureaucrats to control countless aspects of everyday life, unhindered by democratic accountability. Conservatives, not progressives, are the true defenders of freedom.

The U.S. government has seized a plane used by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro that officials say was illegally purchased through a shell company and smuggled out of the United States, citing violations of sanctions and export control laws. The Dassault Falcon 900EX was seized in the Dominican Republic and transferred to the custody of federal officials in Florida, the Justice Department said Monday. U.S. officials say associates of the Venezuelan leader used a Caribbean-based shell company to hide their involvement in the purchase of the plane, valued at the time at $13 million, from a company in Florida.

Under pressure, Harris just completed her first “live interview”—a disastrous performance that was mysteriously taped, edited, and emotionally supported by her co-interviewed running mate. During the interview, she claimed that her values remain the same even though her manifestations of them have admittedly changed. Translated, that means for the next 70 days, she will advocate for popular policies antithetical to her own values, which will inevitably resurface after the election once the current façade fades away.

When George H.W. Bush was ducking debates during the fall of 1992, Bill Clinton’s campaign sent trolling 7-foot chicken mascots to every Bush campaign event. The humorous jab was brilliantly effective. A chastened Bush relented, agreeing to three debates. But by that time, “Chicken George,” as it came to be known, had done its damage. Clinton emerged as the alpha-male to Bush’s beta and Clinton never looked back as he rode the wave into the White House. Kamala Harris is potentially setting up the same trap.

Hunter, it seems, just can’t get a break. First, he gets convicted of all three counts on an illegal gun purchase. That doesn’t sound like much but it carries a potential 25-year sentence. Bad luck, that conviction. This week, his trial for tax evasion was to begin. At the last minute, he trotted out a scheme where he pleads guilty without admitting guilt. (It’s a lawyer thing.) The prosecutors were having none of it, and the judge was skeptical. So then, Hunter just entered a straight guilty plea on all nine counts. They carry a potential 17-year sentence. If he were sentenced to the maximum on both the gun and the tax charges,
