Hoping to avoid Clinton’s 2016 mistakes,
Harris courts three ‘rust belt’ states

Of all the lessons Kamala Harris’s campaign will have learned from Hillary Clinton’s botched run for president eight years ago, among the most important is that it’s better to talk about jobs than guns in the three rust belt states that hold the key to the White House. The peculiarities of the US’s electoral college will almost certainly see November’s presidential election decided by voters in just seven states. Four – Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Georgia – lie in the southern sun belt. But it is the three to the north – the rust belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – that Democratic strategists are focused on.

Unemployment is creeping up, which is a bad sign in the rust belt where it's often higher than national average. But Kammy is miraculously promising good jobs at good pay - which lots of people seem to fall for.

One thing is certain Kamala Harris knows nothing about campaigning. Her whole plan is to listen to Obama's old campaign team and do what they tell her and say what they tell her to say. She is a babe in the woods being guided by the big bad wolf Obama team.

Ha, ha, ha, what a joke! No, I'm not talking about the Cackler "courting" rust belt states, or even the more imaginary Hildebeast "mistakes" in those areas in 2016. I suspect millions of people there dislike both of them. It's a huge farce because the only thing Shrillary did wrong was not cheat enough due to demonrats underestimating President Trump's support.

In an Aug. 1 decision over redistricting of county commission seats in Galveston, Texas, the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has issued a decision that stops the political misuse of the Voting Rights Act by Democrats and their allies to create voting districts loyal to the Democratic Party instead of protecting the voting rights of minorities. This decision may also affect the political makeup of Congress and state legislatures in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas—the states within the jurisdiction of the 5th Circuit—moving dozens of seats from Democrat to Republican.

ABC Washington correspondent and host of "This Week," George Stephanopoulos went down in a spectacular blaze when he tried to badger Trump surrogate and Florida Congressman Byron Donalds into denying the truth and accepting media gaslighting. The main subject on Stephanopoulous's agenda at a time when the world is teetering on the brink of a handful of major regional wars, financial collapse, the Western world is facing cultural devastation, and the calculated destruction of the norms that have unified the United States for over 200 years by Joe Biden and his lackeys was whether Donalds, who is black, considered Harris to be black.

I’m just catching up on some events that I have missed. The first press conference by the U.S. Secret Service about the Trump assassination attempt was alarming. This is the first time the media had to question USSS since the attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania. Fox News host Jesse Watters does a good job summarizing the event and encapsulating the largest takeaways from the briefing. *Why* do they want us to know/think this was an inside job? It seems like there has to be more to it than just lording it over us or simple distraction. I don’t understand where they are going with this.

By hailing Haniyeh as a "great leader," Abbas and his Palestinian Authority cohorts are sending a message to all Palestinians that the murderous Hamas leader is their role model. [T]he Biden-Harris administration and those who continue to talk about the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.... must be reminded that Haniyeh, who is being praised by Abbas and the PA as a "great leader," belongs to a group that has long been waging a Jihad (holy war) to murder Jews and destroy Israel – and that does not have the slightest intention of being "revitalized."

Japan’s benchmark stock index plunged 12.4% on Monday, compounding a global market rout set off by investor concerns that the the U.S. economy could be headed for recession. A report Friday showing hiring by U.S. employers slowed last month by much more than expected has convulsed financial markets, vanquishing the euphoria that had taken the Nikkei 225 to all-times highs of over 42,000 in recent weeks. The shakeup began just a couple of days after U.S. stock indexes had jumped to their best day in months after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell set the stage for possible rate cuts to begin in September.

What a mess has this created, along with peak entertainment value, but is it good? Despite the humor that’s deeply embedded in them, I still feel that deep personal attacks on Kamala Harris do nothing but animate the liberal base. There’s enough to rip apart Kamala on her record and accompanying video. With the race tightening up, the Trump camp needs to focus. Donald Trump caused a stir at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago when he said he doesn’t know what ethnicity Kamala Harris is, noting that she portrayed herself as Indian but “became black” when her national profile was heightened.

The Dow plummeted more than 800 points, and the Nasdaq was set to plunge into a correction on Friday, falling more than 10% from its July peak after weak employment numbers aggravated worries of a slowdown in the US economy, while Amazon and Intel’s downbeat forecasts dampened sentiment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 918 points, or 2.3%, to 39,429. The S&P 500 dropped 2.5%, and the Nasdaq slid 2.8%. The S&P 500 hit its lowest level since July 11 and the Dow was on track for its biggest two-day percentage fall since early March 2023. A Mississippi congressman proposed a bill that would revoke Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail. Now that Republicans are calling for his removal from the committee investigating the assassination attempt, the Democrat is downplaying how the bill would threaten the former president’s safety. Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., introduced the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act in April, which would revoke Secret Service protection for those sentenced following conviction for a federal or state felony with a prison term.

Georgia has been on Donald Trump’s mind since his achingly close margin of defeat there in 2020. This time around, polls suggest he won’t need a post-election phone call to state election officials to find him the votes — he’s gaining the votes he needs to win all on his own. The former president had maintained a continuous lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average over the incumbent president here since last year. Joe Biden hadn’t led in a single poll since November. Had he stayed in the race, its outcome was nearly a foregone conclusion. Vice President Kamala Harris’ entry into the contest has only served to narrow Trump’s polling lead.

At the conclusion of the investigation, fellow astronaut Frank Borman testified to Congress that his friends were killed by a “failure of imagination.” As he said, nobody -- including himself -- imagined that a test of the capsule, performed on the ground, could be so catastrophic. We heard the “failure of imagination” phrase again last week, when acting Secret Service director Ronald Rowe testified about the assassination attempt on former President Donld Trump. US President Joe Biden is set to meet his national security team on Monday to discuss “developments in the Middle East”, the White House has said, as the US deploys extra fighter jets and warships to the region amid growing fears of an Iranian attack on Israel. Regional tensions have increased after the assassination last week of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran a day after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed Fuad Shukur, a senior military commander from the Lebanese group Hezbollah. Both groups are backed by Iran, which has sworn revenge. Biden will also speak to Jordan’s King Abdullah II, the White House said,

An account of the terrors of working for Vice President Kamala Harris during the days she was a U.S. senator has resurfaced. Terry McAteer, whose son worked briefly for Harris in a long-ago summer internship, wrote an op-ed for The Union in 2019 when Harris was in the midst of her failed campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. This is not exactly a startling revelation. In 2021, as Harris’s staff was heading for the exit one after the other, Politico wrote a piece describing the vice president’s office as a hotbed of dysfunction.

Olympic boxing sunk to a new low last week. An Algerian boxer with XY chromosomes – the ordinary definition of “male” – and commensurate male testosterone levels – beat up a woman in front of thousands of cheering spectators. The woman who was beat up had to quit 46 seconds into the match, apparently with a broken nose. The liberal media wants to make Donald Trump’s comments about Kamala Harris’ race a significant point as we enter the final months of the 2024 election. It’s a tacit acknowledgment that the Democratic Party is underwater with groups that usually vote overwhelmingly for them in elections. They need something to jolt the base—and this subject matter could do it. That’s why I’m admittedly nervous: personal attacks on Kamala do nothing but energize liberals. Trump said that Kamala carried herself as Indian before becoming black after her national profile increased at last
