There must be a lot of sour stomachs among Democrats in the wake of Donald Trump’s acceptance speech Thursday night. He did what he had to do: we saw a convincing portrait of a man whose essence remains the same but who has been simultaneously (and seemingly contradictorily) both softened and tempered.
His entrance was pure Trump, glitzy and over-the-top showbizzy, with flashing lights and his name spelled out in giant illuminated letters:

It wasn't too long for me, but I am central time. I didn't even notice its length- I was in a place where the mind does not measure time by the little annoyances and fidgeting that one usually measures time by. A place where the events of the last 4 years - massive and blatant deceptions, persecutions, abuse of power, horrific slanders, and jailings; events that are the stuff of myths - seemed to be washed away and resolved. It was a Moment. It was Mythical Time. I'm sure that wasn't true for everybody. But if you've been aware the last 4 years, you noticed something.

#2, I think they'll be just fine, and we know Vance won't be such a Caspar Milquetoast like Mike Pence. It will be interesting to see how Trump uses Vance, and I believe he will utilize him as he brings so many assets to the ticket.

I don't think it was too long, especially when you consider the initial half-hour the nominee gave his first-person testimony regarding his brush with death by attempted assassination. Not to mention his stirring tribute to Corey Comperatore and the other shooting victims. What impatient people we have become; so used to quick takes and short quotes that we can't give 90 minutes to a man that has given us nine years of his life, and willing to give us four more?

Not that it will change my intent to vote for Trump, but I thought his speech was rambling, stream of thought, something that he would do at one of his rallys. Of course there were plenty of red-meat remarks. I sat through the whole thing.

Some people complained that the Gettysburg Address was too short to be considered substantial.
What matters is what gets said, who said it, and his mission.

President Trump's speech was real nice. We just sat in amazement understanding that he was in very good standing with God last weekend. He was very much at peace with things thursday night and just five days after something unimaginable had happened to him. Then afterwards, a most lovely and always beautiful Melania joins at his side. What a great convention Day 4 it was.

Lefty talking points the morning after the speech were that it was too long, and Trump went off script by attacking Biden showing how divisive he is. Saw the same thing in two articles.
Stuff like this is why one cannot listen to critics.

I read an interesting comment under the article where the commenter thought that perhaps the speech was as long as it was because PDJT wanted to show his stamina after last weekend and to contrast himself with jill's husband who's unable to deliver a 90 second speech.

I watch every President Trump rally on Newsmax...and never get bored with Trump speak....it's in my blood...but if you're one of the whinners that thought it was to long...there's a simple solution...push the off button....President Trump connected to millions who had never heard his speeches before...so I'm thinking it was a smart move...

It wasn't too long for me. I watched the whole thing. It was an amazing feat, in my opinion, to talk that long, mostly off the cuff, and to not miss a beat. It showed Trump's strength and his resilience, and answered any questions about his age and mental agility, if there were any.

Lifson just proved to all that he has no powers of prognostication. I have more to lose from this stupid biden administration, namely about 2 thousand dollars a month in purchase power thanks to the idiot in the White House. Lifson is wrong and so is his boss. I, for one, sat transfixed from the first RNC opening until the closing scene. Trump was the ONLY reason I watched the entire 4-day meeting. I was not bored nor disappointed except by the snarky comments from people who are by, the media, for the media and fixated on the media. I hope Lifson loses his remote and has to reprogram his bank of television screens.
