A US couple who died during the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia were walking for over two hours in scorching temperatures before they succumbed to heat stroke, their daughter has told the BBC. Alhaji Alieu Dausy, 71, and Haja Isatu Wurie, 65, of Bowie, Maryland, were among an estimated 1,300 people who died during the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. (Snip) The grieving daughter told the BBC the Hajj pilgrimage was "very important" to her parents, and they had paid $11,500 (£9,000) each to go. Comments:

They paid $11,000 to get roasted to death. As a courtesy Saudi Arabia already buried their bodies.

One of the saddest things to me is that Saudi already buried them and does not even know where. 1300 people have died so far on this "Mecca". They are just doing mass burials I would guess. Insanity.

1,300 dead (so far) this year alone. Image the condemnation the Lamestreams would heap on any Christian or Jewish organization that held an event where a similar number of people died due to lack of protection from the heat, especially if that organization had the kind of wealth that Saudi Arabia possesses. It's all we would see on TV or hear about in the top-of-the-hour news. But it's Islam, so there is not a HINT of disapproval by the Lamestreams.

FTA - ""They went a few days having to find food for themselves, even though the package was supposed to come with meals every day."" Yeah, I am sure that the tour operator has disappeared by now. A complete lack of common sense by the couple. In 122-degree heat with minimal food, water, or protection from the heat. I can only attribute an outcome like this to the Darwinian theory of natural selection. And as for the other 1,400 who also roasted to death...

Interesting that the US places water stations throughout the desert for illegals coming across the border and Saudi Arabian has no water for people paying thousands to participate in a pilgrimage heavy promoted by Saudi Arabian. From my understanding every Muslim believer must make the pilgrimage once in their life.

U.S. health officials on Tuesday warned doctors to be alert for dengue cases as the tropical disease breaks international records. EUGENE, Ore. — The U.S. Olympic team is one of a handful that will supply air conditioners for their athletes at the Paris Games in a move that undercuts organizers’ plans to cut carbon emissions. The two face off again Nov. 5 for a full two-year congressional term that begins in January.
