Prices at In-N-Out Burger in Democrat-run California have jumped due to the $20 minimum wage, making it even more expensive for families to enjoy a simple meal together.
The fast food restaurant’s Double-Double with fries and a drink costs over $10 in the state before adding in tax, the Orange County Register reported on Sunday. “A meal at In-N-Out is now $10.45 for a Double-Double, $8.65 for a cheeseburger, and $8.15 for a hamburger outside the headquarters in Irvine,” the outlet said. In April, In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder said she fought in company meetings to keep costs low as fast food prices in California rose due to inflation and

But if you bake and sell your buns in-house, you can use the Panera exception fir $16/hr

Or you can also be good friends with the governor and he'll find you an exception....for a price of course.

I have eaten at In & Out three times since the $20/min wage went into effect. A cheeseburger, fries and medium soda w/tax cost me $9.92. Compared to other establishments, that's not unreasonable. Prior to the wage jump, I could get heir double-double, fries & soda for $10.91. So, the actual cost increase is around 50 cents. Compared to other fast food places, I & O has held the line pretty well.

I think I'd pay that much for an In & Out meal I loved those double doubles and fries when I occasionally found myself in California.... maybe I'd treat myself to it once a month at current prices, and if I was too hungry to wait until I get home and fix something myself.
But the sad thing is that in the only fast food burger place within 60 miles of me is a McDonalds, and a Big Mac and fries costs about $10; and tastes like 'carp'. And my state has one of the lowest 'minimum wages' in the nation,
I've had fast food twice this year, and it was horrible and horribly over priced both times. I try to plan my trips to town so that I don't have to eat at a restaurant or grab 'drive through'.

Enjoy what your leaders have "done for you". If you don't like it, perhaps time to change leaders?
Probably not.

When we visited San Diego a few years ago when nephews graduated from USMC boot camp, after graduation, the Marines all wanted to go to I&O, it's some big tradition. I wasn't much impressed. We have plenty of other local burger joints around here which make just as good a burger. And, while I don't go to McD's any more, their fries are still way better.
Slim Chickens is a recent favorite. Great chicken fingers and their fries are easily as good as McD's and in our opinion, notably superior to most other offerings.

In-n-Out is always a pleasant experience because of both the food and quality employees. Everyone behind the counter is cheerful and courteous and makes you feel good about eating there. That's because they start their employees at $1-$2 an hour more than the other fast food chains, and maintaining that delta means the company is now paying a LOT of money to burger flippers. First, Rubio's files Chapter 11 and now In-n-Out is jacking prices - that $1.50 Costco hot dog looks more appetizing every week.

I remember, not long ago, when $20 an hour was good wages. Now its the poverty line.

They only raised the price of the hamburger 25 cents. In-n-Out sells so many burgers that they can spread the increase across many more sales than most.

I hope they all close up shop in Commiefornia and open locations in other states, the residents there are too stupid to understand that elections have consequences.

Thanks to California's generosity with other people's money, "approximately 10,000 fast food jobs have reportedly been cut at California fast food joints" and these people are now welfare clients.
That's just the beginning. If the cost increases end up pricing fast food out of the market, lots of others will lose their jobs with shrinking demand and some companies will close.
All this was predictable but the government just does not care. Authoritarian government doing what they want, not what is smart or right. Hamburger flipping jobs were never meant to provide a living wage. The value of the job to the business is simply not worth more. Such jobs are great for those seeking a little income when young and inexperienced. Or older and seeking a bit of supplemental income.

"Double-Double" refers to what In-N-Out did to the prices.

While the current price increase is disturbing, I'd really like to see a comparison to prices that existed in January 2021. That would be even more telling.

here's what we were given to understand: hair gel hitler was losing muuucho and was not expected to get the prize.

Normally I do not eat at any place that has a drive thru and does not have a bar. In & Out and The Hat (local pastrami chain) are the only exceptions.
Yesterday my daughter and I ate at In & Out for $20. Good food and still a good price, I'll continue to support them.

Two of the few things I enjoyed while being stationed in California was In-n-Out Burger and Jack in the Box. Now I doubt either are still in the Bay Area.
