'Unnecessary obstacles': Boise School
District superintendent on new Idaho laws

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho lawmakers wrapped up the 2024 Legislative Session in early April, signing several bills into law; however, three new laws in particular are being met with contention by some Idahoans, including Boise School District (BSD) superintendent Coby Dennis. The superintendent wrote to parents and staff addressing three bills recently signed into law by Governor Brad Little regarding the definition of sex and gender, the mandated usage of preferred pronouns and potentially harmful materials in libraries.

Comments:

FTA: “Obstacles that we will overcome together." So in other words, this government employee is implying he’s going to “overcome” these laws, rather than comply with them. Our government at all levels is run by employees who will resist any reforms regardless of what elected representatives enact. Who’s a threat to democracy?

Troubling for whom…the whacked out administrators? You know, why don’t we just eliminate our moral code and call the Ten Commandments the Ten Suggestions. Then society can devolve into total chaos , which is what the commielibs are striving for so they can come into power and tell us what is right and wrong. Problem solved!

Nice Laws! Personally, I'd make the penalties on the illegal publications harsher. Grooming and contributing to the delinquency of a minor are series subjects. If a teacher were to use such materials in classes, they might be arrested, fired and banned from interacting with minors, for life.

Much of what we now recognize as public evil became culture-wide because we allowed colleges the unsupervised freedom to indoctrinate our children with socialist and other immoral, leftist, ideologies. Among the consequences are generations of current teachers who think genders are fluid and children in the womb aren't human beings possessing inalienable their own rights. We have lost - perhaps forever - the cultural understanding that our Judeo-Christian heritage has intrinsic value over other faiths and a faithless life. As such, we are not surprised by what politicians do - they do what they've been taught.

Google announced Friday it would remove links to California news sites from its search results for some users as it continues to push back against a pending state bill that would require the company to pay publishers. In a blog post published Friday, the search giant said the bill, officially known as the California Journalism Preservation Act, would change the company’s business model. If signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom, the bill would require tech companies like Google to pay news outlets a “journalism usage fee” when they sell advertising alongside news content.

American Self-Government is Falling Apart 15 replies

The American system does not require unanimity. In fact, its design presumes deep disagreement on matters of morality and policy. This is why questions like religion are left to individual conscience, and why most policy is left to states or even smaller units, where the law’s touch will not be felt as harshly, because it reflects the more similar values of a smaller group. Finally, regardless of who has the reins of the federal government, the Constitution renders a great deal of substantive activity off limits, as exemplified by the Bill of Rights.

Two weeks ago, I warned my readers (on Substack of course) that Democrats were preparing to arrest President Trump on bogus charges to stop him from winning the 2024 election. As I wrote in that article on July 27th: “Democrats were hoping to dent Trump’s popularity with the January 6th Unselect Committee televised hearings but nobody’s watching it (outside Washington) and nobody cares. Since that gambit has failed, Democrats seem to think that arresting President Trump on bogus charges and trying him in a kangaroo court is their only remaining option.”
The key to understanding our ruling elites 6 replies

In the United States, Congress passes laws but exempts its members from the laws' reach. Presidents sign "executive orders" that are nowhere mentioned in the Constitution. Courts often make policy and change or obstruct laws by "interpreting" the Constitution to fit the policy preferences of judges. The laws are often applied unequally depending on the person violating them. The families of our governing elites often enrich themselves and acquire wealth and privileges on that basis alone. During the COVID-19 pandemic, governors, mayors, and other members of the ruling class imposed restrictions that they arrogantly ignored.

If they are so logical and science-based, these things raise the question of why?

In the end, almost everyone got what they deserved. The president’s Achilles’ heel—relying on the wrong people to advance his political interests—led to his final ouster this week. Donald Trump ran out of runway and instead of preparing for a soft landing, he pumped the gas. It’s hard to blame him: His court challenges had been thwarted by the very judges he elevated to the federal bench, his hodgepodge legal team whirred in defeat, and Republican senators he helped elect quickly turned on him. As usual, the president was right:

In 410AD, the city of Rome was sacked by the Visigoths under their king, Alaric. The Germanic tribes had invaded Italy and laid siege to the Eternal City, eventually breaking in and putting Rome to the sack. Now, today, the United States faces some implacable enemies. Still, there is a difference between Rome in 410 and the U.S. in 2024: Our enemies are already within the city walls, and the civic leadership seems unwilling to do anything about it. On Saturday, "anti-war activists" gathered in a Teamster's Union hall in Chicago. The Free Press' Olivia Reingold brings us an account, including a video of the activists shouting "Death to Israel" and

President Joe Biden is said to be privately fearing a potentially 'catastrophic escalation' as the Israeli government plans a retaliatory attack on Iran. Iran bombarded Israel with hundreds of missiles and drones on Saturday in response to a drone strike in Syria that killed 12 Iranians, including two top generals. The strike marks the first time a direct military assault has been launched by Tehran on Israel - despite decades enmity dating back to the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution. New York— Twelve news organizations on Sunday urged presumptive presidential nominees Joe Biden and Donald Trump to agree to debates, saying they were a “rich tradition” that have been part of every general election campaign since 1976. While Trump, who did not participate in debates for the Republican nomination, has indicated a willingness to take on his 2020 rival, the Democratic president has not committed to debating him again. Although invitations have not been formally issued, the news organizations said it was not too early for each campaign to say publicly that it will participate in the three presidential and one vice presidential forums set by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates.

On Saturday, Iran initiated a barrage of drones and ballistic missiles at Israel. Thankfully, most of them were successfully intercepted, causing minimal damage. Of course, in a stunning move, President Biden is pushing Israel not to retaliate. It's hard to imagine why Biden would do that, except when you consider that Joe Biden has been appeasing Iran since his days as Barack Obama vice president. With that in mind, it's also not surprising—though it's still shocking— that Joe Biden not only had prior knowledge of Iran's assault on Israel but also technically gave it the green light under certain conditions, according to a report from the Jerusalem Post.

The Iranian regime on Saturday launched a massive and unprecedented attack on Israel, firing over 300 projectiles, including drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, toward the Jewish state. It was the first time that Iran attacked Israel from its own territory, though the attack also relied on its proxies in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. Thanks to an impressive joint response from Israel and the U.S. (with help from allies including Jordan), nearly all of the projectiles were intercepted — even over Jerusalem, Israel’s capital. There was minimal damage to an Israeli air base, which remained functional, and sadly a seven-year-old girl from a Bedouin village suffered
