Why Farmers Are Protesting Around the World

Original Article

From Europe to India, farmers have taken to the streets in recent months to protest agricultural policies. First, demonstrations erupted across Europe, with farmers forming blockades, dumping manure in cities, and egging government buildings. Now, thousands of farmers have marched toward New Delhi in scenes that recall the mass protests of 2020-21. Although the reasons for agricultural workers’ discontent differ from country to country, the ongoing unrest comes as the world’s farmers are “increasingly feeling under political attack,” [snip]. This edition of Flash Points considers the root causes of the farmers’ protests, what unites them, and how climate and trade policy are transforming global agriculture.

Comments:

I would hope that American and Canadian farmers have similar thoughts on the matter. Klaus et al, the chickens are coming home to roost.

People should know their history. It seems Klaus Stalin does, and he’s not afraid to use it. I would hope he’d eat a really bad tomato one day, but I’m sure he has ‘tasters’ for that.

It's all very simple. Farmers have the life view that they are there to feed people efficiently, and thereby make a living. But, now the insane econazies have decided that they need to destroy modern, effective, efficient agriculture so that billions of people will starve. The econazies think that billions of people starving to death is a desirable outcome. And a LOT of us disagree. At some point we are going to have to eliminate these vicious, anti-human econazis, who want to make the old German Nazis look like amateurs.

The WEFers (and I do mean effers) are trying to eliminate non-organic fertilizers and pesticides in world farming, thus guaranteeing starvation of multitudes, who vill eat ze tasty bugs. These Green Luddites just hate modernity and cheap energy, especially the kind they incorrectly call "fossil fuels." Some would suggest that if we seem somewhat short of carbon life forms to devote to energy, the WEFers themselves can, under 50,000 atmospheres of pressure at 1,500 Centigrade, be converted into useful slick stuff like Valvoline. Just an idea, although Al Gore's oil is almost certainly inferior to "Texas tea" from the Permian Basin. In Sri Lanka in 2022, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who had supported the United Nation's draconian curbs on agriculture, had to flee to Malaysia to keep countrymen from literally ripping him to pieces. His resignation had to be in writing. Sri Lankan commoners who hated the country's agicultural plans were swimming in the president's pool, drinking his whisky, and going to the bathroom in his toilets, having themselves a ripsnorting time. That same day Sri Lankans surrounded the prime minister's house and burned it to the ground. Now THAT'S an insurrection.

Last week, The National Pulse reports that Trump is leading in all seven battleground states. Pop the cork! Trump wins... Not yet, anyway. This isn’t to suggest that Trump boosters shouldn’t be heartened by polling data and trends favorable to 45. Apart from hardcore progressive Kool-Aid drinkers, who believes that their lives are better off after three years of doddering Joe Biden? Four more years of the Enfeebled One would transform the Republic into Oakland. Yet what did we learn from polling in 2016, 2020, and 2022?

On Sunday, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida ended his presidential bid and announced his endorsement of former President Donald Trump after landing just over 20% of the Iowa caucus vote. [snip] Nevertheless, party infighting only continues with online attacks and congressional hold ups threatening the unity of the GOP. The Republican party needs to reset its priorities: There will be plenty of time to fight over budgets, abortion rights, and foreign policy after securing the presidency. Until then, any internal squabbles can be used as free ammunition by the Democratic party. Republicans will need to get their house in order to secure a majority vote in November.

The political adage “If you cannot beat them, join them” has been well-known for centuries. So, the Left made one extra step and arrived at the “if you cannot beat them, lead them.” The Left has been trying (unsuccessfully) various methods to eliminate capitalists and private property. Eventually, Leftists learned their lesson and decided to preside over private property instead of confiscating and spreading it around. Lenin used it (the so-called “New Economic Policy” in the Soviet Union 1921-1928), Mussolini used it, Hitler used it, and the Chinese used it. It blatantly violates a well-demarcated borderline between the government and the governed. However, by now, it is the cornerstone of globalism.

Lamborn, who represents the Colorado Springs area, about an hour south of Denver, talked about his plans to retire at the end of 2024 on a radio show Friday morning, saying he wants to spend more time with family. His planned departure comes on the heels of Republican U.S. Rep. In a recent article I pointed out that the conflict in Israel is very important, but it’s a distraction from another major goal: an attack against the United States that would make 9/11 pale in comparison. Remember, Israel is the “Little Satan” but the U.S. is the “Great Satan.” Though the world now rightly focuses on Israel, the world’s sole Jewish state is largely irrelevant as regards the real threat to world peace: militant Islam. If you really want to address root causes, then look no further. Israel and the Jews are but a convenient distraction, a red herring, just the canary in the coal mine.

A profound irony of Israel’s latest grim suffering is that the knife- and gun-wielding Palestinian (Hamas-sponsored) terrorists and their leftist cheerleaders in the American academy reveal a deplorable collusion between what ordinarily would be antagonists. The collaborative condemnation by the Harvard Undergraduate Palestine Solidarity Committee that held “the Israeli regime entirely responsible for” the October 7 slaughter suggests a bewildering collusion between far right and far left: fundamentalist Islamists supported by woke, neo-Marxist radicals.

It’s been a week since wildfires on Maui ravaged the island and sent residents streaming into the ocean to avoid the flames. So far, Joe Biden has “no comment” about the casualties and, presumably, he has nothing to say about the massive relief efforts that are surely underway. But are they underway? According to the Wall Street Journal, “State and federal aid is trickling into the region in the wake of the deadliest U.S. wildfire event in over 100 years.” So after a full week, aid is just “trickling in” from FEMA to deal with the destruction of most of the Western part of Maui?

Any rational person familiar with the behavior of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis during the prosecutorial misconduct hearings that finally ended last Friday has probably concluded that her conduct has created the “appearance of impropriety.” This, according to defense lawyers for former President Trump and several co-defendants, is sufficient to disqualify Willis and the Fulton County DA’s office from prosecuting the RICO case they launched last August. Indeed, defense attorney Harry MacDougald cited six examples of actual conflicts of interest, any one of which is sufficient to disqualify Willis and her office. Yet it’s unlikely that it will happen.
