The sale of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve is among the provisions intended to raise funds in one of six bills setting out appropriations for some federal departments this year after Congress narrowly avoided another shutdown last week. [Snip] "Upon the complete of such sale, the Secretary [of Energy] shall carry out the closure of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve," the bill states, and "may not establish any new regional petroleum product reserve unless funding of the proposed regional petroleum product reserve is explicitly requested in advance in an annual budget."

this rogue government in D.C. has got to be stopped!!
- there is no reason why any of these half brained maneuvers they've made over the past 3 years should have ever seen the light of day and this is the wildest of non-sensical ideas they've ever had
- the communists are trying to dis-locate and re-locate all of the vital, ultra necessary services that serve the people of this country before November, clearly indicating that the plot is afoot to destroy the country before our President returns to office
- this is such Treasonous behaviour it creates a whole new concept of the idea or Treason

Not a problem. If the Northeast runs out of gas. they will just get the feds to call it an emergency and force the rest of us to send them our gas, and subsidize it too, just like during the oil embargo in the 1970's.

AND you wouldn't have to raise money if you stopped the profligate spending including giving it away to illegals and Ukraine.

Sounds like a company selling its assets to pay its bills to prolong bankruptcy. Ah, the rewards of unlimited spending are now setting in. Soon the severe shortages will kick in. Then Carteresque inflation. Then the collapse of our society. And a new socialist paradise will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. All part of the Democrat plan.

They really want to make certain that those folks in the NE get totally screwed in any future shortage of gas.
INTENTIONAL.
Sabotage of the safety net.

Well, the HairSniffer already drained and sold off the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
This apparently drains the NE Region's emergency 3-day gasoline supply.
Setting the USA up for an event -what it is, I have not idea- for which we will not be prepared.... because the foolish, evil Democ'RATS deliberately UNDID the preparations put in place by earlier, wiser, better people.

The military doesn't need it. Biden has ordered all military vehicles to be electric in the future.

Never thought I would live to see the day that an ignorant apathetic American population would willingly, adopt and elect, a government dedicated to the following proposition.
We the People of the United States, in Order to destroy a perfect Union, forego Justice, accept domestic violence, defund the common defense, promote the general Welfare State and secure perpetual debt to ourselves and our Posterity, do relinquish and destroy the Constitution for the United States of America.
We are now ruled, as opposed to governed, by a senile President and a radical Socialist Congress that has ignored the Constitution and rules by Executive order.
The time has come to defund the government. Those of us paying the bills must stand up and take back our country, if it is not already too late.
It has been reported that the National Dept of $34 trillion dollars is due to increase by a trillion dollars in the next 100 days.
In one of the appropriation bills to fund the government is a proposal to sell the entire Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve to raise funds. The bill specifically states, "Upon the complete of such sale, the Secretary of Energy shall carry out the closure of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve and may not establish any new regional petroleum product reserve unless funding of the proposed regional petroleum product reserve is explicitly requested in advance in an annual budget."
This insane proposal, along with the draining of the National Petroleum Reserve, and the depletion of the current arms supply in support of the war in the Ukraine, is the gravest National Security risk facing the country; it is tantamount to unilateral disarmament and will complete the destruction of the country as we have known it.

Built under Obama, as a very high cost "Prop" to his political base in NY, Maine, Massachusetts, as an after the fact...long after the fact...response to his abysmal response to Hurricane Sandy. Has NEVER BEEN USED...but costs over $16Million per year to maintain.
What has been it's total overall costs to date?
He threw LOTS of Billions at those locales, a decade later they still haven't spent it all, yet many are still clamoring for even more "Sandy Emergency" funds...ignoring that "Emergency" is based upon the word Emergent/Emerging, just now happening..
I'm a fan of Zero Sum budgeting, where every single line item has to justify it's existence. The key question being "If we were having to decide to START this program today? Would We?" If not...close it. Same thing with duplication/repetition of similar programs. If it "don't work don't fund it"

If Joe Biden would stop spending our tax dollars supporting foreign wars, the UN, and illegals, we would have some money in our budget. Do not agree with the sale. This is a crock of you know what.

Re #13, the military doesn't use gasoline powered vehicles, outside of the few staff cars and MP trucks on stateside bases.
100% of trucks, tanks, Humvees, and generators used by the military have used diesel for a long time. Basically, no combat or combat support vehicles use gasoline.

The Antideficiency Act, codified in 31 USC 1341(a)(1)(A), is already on the books, stating that federal employees are prohibited from making or authorizing an expenditure from, or creating or authorizing an obligation under, any appropriation or fund in excess of the amount available in the appropriation or fund unless authorized by law. Subsection (B) further prohibits federal employees from involving the government in any obligation to pay money before funds have been appropriated for that purpose, unless otherwise allowed by law. Violations are subject to administrative and criminal sanctions. Biden's political move to bail out student loans is in violation of the Antideficiency Act because Congress did not appropriate money for that purpose, nor did it authorize such in public law. The remedy is impeachment.

That's OK... They have electric buses , hydroelectric power, some solar panels to charge them.. And the good people of the Northeast are good little progressives who believe in 'climate change', so they don't need any gasoline anyway. They should be glad to get rid of it, so that their elected overlords can have a little more 'walkin around money'.

How about we sell off the northeast states? They have become outposts of the west coast far-left states.
