A California lawmaker has proposed an ambitious plan to raise the minimum wage to $50 per hour. Democratic Representative Barbara Lee argued that, due to the affordability crisis in the San Francisco Bay Area, a family of four needs at least $127,000 to survive. Lee's proposal means that minimum wage workers would earn more than $100,000 per year. She made these comments while debating with Reps Adam Schiff (D-CA), Katie Porter (D-CA) and Republican Steve Garvey. Schiff and Porter have both called for the minimum wage to be increased to at least $20 an hour. However, Garvey has resisted raising

Consider Biden’s storage of Afghan war secrets in his Delaware home, including a classified handwritten memo he wrote to President Barack Obama in 2009 that Biden kept because he thought it would vindicate his opposition to sending more troops.

It was Valentine's Day in 1984 when they skated to victory at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics, winning the gold medal and earning the highest ever score for a single performance. And now, 40 years later, Jayne Torvill, 66, and Christopher Dean, 65, are hanging up their skates for good as they have announced their retirement. The British skating duo will embark on one final UK tour next year, which will be their swansong and mark 50 years since they formed their skating partnership in 1975.

Several CBS News reporters were caught up in layoffs at Paramount Global that claimed 800 jobs, including one who is embroiled in a high-stakes First Amendment fight — and another who has reportedly weathered HR probes over his workplace behavior, The Post has learned. Catherine Herridge — an award-winning senior correspondent whose First Amendment case is being closely watched by journalists nationwide — was among the hundreds of employees at CBS parent Paramount who got pink slips on Tuesday, sources told The Post. The carnage provoked outrage from the rank-and-file at CBS, with some focusing their ire on Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s domestic support is on the rise as Israel’s war against Hamas advances, according to poll numbers released on Tuesday. Israel’s Channel 14 published the results of a survey conducted by Direct Polls on Tuesday evening, showing that if elections were held now, Netanyahu’s Likud Party would receive 28 mandates, its best numbers since the October 7 massacre — the most brutal attack on Jews since the Nazi Holocaust. In a matchup for prime minister between Netanyahu and his longtime rival Benny Gantz, Netanyahu is the preferred candidate, securing 47 percent of the total sample’s support compared to Gantz’s 34 percent. Democratic senators are admitting to private worries that President Biden’s age and health could cost their party the White House, but are loath to discuss those fears publicly, insisting there is no alternative to head the Democratic ticket in 2024. Democratic senators who have spent time with Biden recently say he remains sharp mentally and claim they didn’t notice any diminution of cognitive abilities, contradicting special counsel Robert Hur’s claims that the president couldn’t remember what years he served as vice president.

Bummed as I was when Ron DeSantis bowed gracefully out of the presidential scrum, it was nice to have arguably the finest chief executive in fifty states back home in Florida running things full-time. He hasn't taken a breather to recuperate from the campaigning either, plunging right back into the business of keeping FL humming along. The legislation he announced support for today, though, is kind of funny in its own right if you think about it in a national context. It's a shot sent squarely across the bow of California's soft-on-crime, unctuous Randall Flagg clone, Gavin Newsom.
