For his own sake, DeSantis should drop out

The race between Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley to secure a clear and commanding second place to Donald Trump is starting to feel like an old Law and Order episode. You know the ones. Where two guys who committed a crime are separated and the first one to flip gets the better plea deal? As it stands, DeSantis and Haley could both choose to be the first to drop out and endorse Trump, thus ensuring the other is set up for a grueling one on one with the surging former president that looks to be a very uphill climb.

FTA: Aside from Chris Christie, Haley is the only candidate left who is running not to be a better executed extension of Trump style populism, but a turn, or return, in a different direction. From her hawkish foreign policy to her squishy stance on abortion, to her removal of the confederate battle banner from South Carolina’s flag, Haley runs to the middle, echoing the style of the Bushes.

A month or so ago I would have discounted this call for DeSantis to drop out. Now I agree with this writer's assessment. DeSantis should drop out and get behind Trump. Most of DeSantis' supporters would move to Trump, increasing his huge lead to overwhelming. It is time for Trump to be relieved of opponents so that he can wholeheartedly focus on beating the atrocious Biden.

The headline says it all. The longer he fools around this year and next, the more he spoils it for himself in 2028. And he really needs to (I think, but cannot prove) stop listening to his wife as a political advisor.

This DeSantis supporter believes the governor will (barring a miraculous outcome in Iowa) drop out very shortly after the caucuses. After that I will be with Trump to the bitter end (and I DO think it will be bitter).

FTA “Volumes will be written about the failure of the DeSantis campaign to gain traction, theories abound.” “It was too online, it should have officially launched earlier, it should not have officially launched on Twitter, say some, others say, well, he just doesn’t have “it.” This lack of understanding mimics people who think there is a “boycott of Bud Light “ No boycott at all , they destroyed the brand, the brand doesn’t exist anymore, so we can’t buy it. Simple. Ron DeSantis destroyed his brand. His constituency voted for him to be the Governor of Florida, not to run for President. He betrayed them and he’ll betray us. His brand does not exist anymore so we can’t vote for it. It’s that simple.

Oh, for God's sake. Trump saw DeSantis long ago as his chief rival for the nomination and has been savaging him ever since. Dem strategists determined early on that the governor represented the gravest threat to the Party's hold on the White House. Dems and their media lackeys targeted him unceasingly. Conclusion: the Trump campaign and Dems made common cause to knock DeSantis down. It appears to have worked. And I for one think it's a crying shame. There are reasons the left fear/feared DeSantis. Yes, Donald Trump is a force of nature. But in some ways, DeSantis is the most formidable person to run for the nomination in my lifetime. My two cents.

DeSantis got some really bad advice when he threw his hat into the ring for 2024. It was foolish to challenge a very popular Trump, especially since Trump could not run in 2028. He should have waited four years.

I've been a PDJT supporter ever since he came down that escalator and set the fake news on fire. But I've been a supporter of Governor DeSantis ever since he beat Andrew "Down Low" Gilliam and become the best governor in my beloved country. He cleaned Newsome's clock with his record and the facts so badly that Mrs. Newsome had to recuse him. I'm not a member of his campaign but I would've advised him to wait until 2028. With the PDJT juggernaut out of way with his record he would've been a shoe-in. What he needs to do now is bow out gracefully, fully support PDJT and try again in 4 years. Politics being fickle he may still have a shot at the Oval Office. He'd get my vote.

Successful public health campaigns and medical advances have enabled the United States to conquer a range of disfiguring and damaging diseases. Polio, which paralyzed thousands of Americans annually, was wiped out by widespread vaccinations. In 1999 the nation’s last hospital for lepers closed its doors in Louisiana. A global campaign eradicated smallpox, while lethal tuberculosis, the “consumption” that stalked characters in decades of literature, seemed beaten by antibiotics. Measles outbreaks still occur from time to time, but they are small, local, and easily contained. Recently, however, some of these forgotten but still formidable infectious diseases have begun to reappear in the U.S.

"I have decided that I will no longer be a candidate for president in the 2024 election." Most Democrats and the vast majority of voters overall hope that Joe Biden will utter those words sometime before the party’s national convention, which convenes in Chicago next August. It could happen. More importantly, it should happen. Polls show that Biden is deeply unpopular. Beyond serious concerns about his advanced age and diminished mental acuity, his job performance on every major policy issue that Americans care about is a dismal report card of inept management or misjudgment.

Upon leaving the White House on Saturday before spending his Christmas at Camp David, Biden was asked by a reporter about his "outlook" of the economy going into 2024. "All good. Take a look," Biden responded. "Start reporting it the right way," he added with a smirk. Biden has repeatedly been critical of the press, which he accuses of focusing more on negative news than positive things that come from his administration. But his approval among Americans continues reaching historic lows and his handling of the economy is a heavy factor in his unpopularity.

Gen Z voters are growing increasingly concerned about President Biden's mental fitness and "retiree" lifestyle as his approval rating slips to an all-time low in a national poll ahead of the 2024 election. "I don't mean to rag on the president of the United States, but honestly, he's acting like a retiree," Kale Ogunbor, a Republican Gen Z voter, told "Fox & Friends First" Wednesday. "It's been reported that over 40% of Joe Biden's presidency has been spent on vacation. And I think a lot of Americans, including Gen Z, don't want a president who seems more like he's retired the next four years after 2024."

The decision this week by the Colorado Supreme Court (by a 4-3 vote) to remove Donald Trump from the state’s ballot is a decided loss for democracy, arguably a worse loss for Democrats, and ultimately a win for Donald Trump — for several reasons. First and foremost, and most obviously, in the Republican primary, Trump’s argument has been that democracy has been undermined by the various investigations that he has faced and is currently facing. Now, before any of the major Trump cases — including the one related to his actions on Jan. 6, 2021, which was the reason Colorado ruled he was ineligible for the ballot — have concluded

"It sounded like people were being asked to close ranks to keep the broader administration stable—including its composition," the source said of Obama's involvement.

James Biden is expected to appear before the House for questioning in the coming weeks. The appearance may solidify a new line of defense for the Bidens: that they are harmless grifters.

Trump Derangement Syndrome became Orwellian with the recent ruling of the Colorado Supreme Court. It approved the erasure of Trump from the Republican primary ballot in Colorado, by invoking Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. That ossified clause was intended to bar any ante-bellum federal officials who joined the Confederacy from again holding federal offices after 1865. In no way is Trump’s conduct on January 6 comparable to calling for secession, much less prompting a Civil War that cost the country 700,000 lives.

They are so angry at the liberal establishment, the coastal elite, they look at people on television … ‘They don’t have to worry about us,’” Matthews stated.
